This contemporary setting (published in 2015) takes on the traditional British carol with light touches of jazz, bells, marimba and a bit of rhythmic pizzazz. “The Holly and the Ivy” had many localized versions of both the lyrics and the melody in 19th century Britain but has since been standardized to the familiar melody that is tossed from section to section in this festive arrangement by Tom Wallace, who served for many years as arranger and director of University of Georgia marching bands.
