Again, great session :) I was at the London festival of railway modelling today. There were some lovely layouts but so many of them seemed to have nothing moving. Huge layouts and not a sausage running. On today's video I particularly like the tools on the top of the tender. The star of the show for me is the patriot, I don't know why but I always liked that model from Hornby. I think it was the coal rails on the tender, it just looked extra detailed at the time.
Hi, Thank you for your comments and insights. Yes, I know what you mean. I was at a local one last weekend. You do see some superb layouts and small set-ups, but I could never be bothered with all that packing and transportation and the potential damage and extra wear and tare that must occur. I come away thinking, well, I've got nothing to worry about really...I'm more interested in the array of market stalls. I find them fascinating and you can pick up some real gems. I think the 'Pat' slightly pre-dated the Hornby 'fightback' of the early '80s if memory serves. You are quite right about it, although the Bachmann one is more accurate I've never felt inclined to purchase one. It's funny isn't it, Hornby added the 'detail' packs but I get the impression they were rarely ever used. When you do see them they are added almost like an afterthought; crew and fire irons unpainted, lamps stuck on backwards. The best one was three straight unpainted fire irons stuck remorselessly on the top of a Bulleid BB tender!!! There's another upload tonight.
Hello Lynden, Thank you again for your insights and observations. Always good to hear from you! It doesn't take much to do this stuff. A bit of time and the details are easy to get hold of. Cheers, Graeme
As I’ve said countless times , love this layout and the stock running on it . Have I got this correct . I think your Patriot is pulling Stanier stock from Bachmann , Hornby , Airfix and Lima . It mixes very well , although the Hornby coaches I have are much creamier than the Bachmann ones . The 2MT train is intriguing ( sorry don’t know the difference between Ivatt and Standard versions) . I originally thought that they were Hornby LMS suburban , but could they be Graham Farish ? Great video .
Hi Russell, Many thanks for your informative comments and observations. Yes the 'Pat' is running all those coaches you mention. The suburbans are (modified Farish, flush windows and LMS roof vents added). There's hardly any difference between the Riddles and Ivatt class 2 moguls. The dimensions of the Riddles are identical to the final batch of modified Ivatts. Visually, the cab of the Riddles slopes in towards the top whilst the cab is 'square' on the Ivatt. The Ivatt has a gap between the running plate and front buffer beam and the 'Standard'has extensive external pipework around the boiler and firebox. BTW, I'm guessing that you are viewing the videos on a mobile device? I've noted that the description I provide does not automatically come up on iPhones/tablets etc. Try pinging them to your TV, even I'm impressed sometimes!!
So kind of you sir! Thank you for your observations. Yes, I'm rather fond or them myself. Always could be relied upon to do do good work for the railway. A top link LMS driver said they were the fastest 4-6-0s on the LMS.
@@crewelocoman5b161 Oh that's a surprise, thanks for that nugget. I doubt I'll see the new build in steam, with the setbacks and naive project mis-management they've had I don't know if anyone will, sadly....
@@chrisvaughan159 I'm a paid up member of the Project to get 'The Unknown Warrior" a working reality so I'm hoping the ambition is fulfilled. Yes, there have been setbacks but I still believe that the story of steam locomotive preservation since 1968 in the face of seemingly insurmountable financial and engineering obstacles has been a fantastic achievement, to the point where new builds from scratch have become a reality.
@@crewelocoman5b161 I agree, we have never seen such an amazing time. To be honest, my disillusionment with the management of the project and realisation that I don't stand a chance of seeing her in steam caused me to quit. Maybe there's a chance she will be finished and outshopped and you will finally get to ride behind her. I do hope so. Best regards Chris.
Thank you for the observation. Delighted you enjoyed. Yes, they operated in that area and some built at Darlington? Except that this one didn't get stuck in the snow!
Again, great session :)

Lovely session, I particularly like the covered loads👍
Thank you very much for that kind comment. Yes, loads make a big difference to the look of a freight train. I can't stand seeing empty wagons!
Great to see things back on track Graeme.
Hi Rod, Always good to hear from you. Many thanks again...more in the pipeline!
Another great running session! I especially like to see your wagon fleet and how you have detailed them with loads, sheets, labels ect.

@@crewelocoman5b161 I've recently done a couple of real coal loads and added a sheet to some of my wagons. Your videos are a great inspiration!
