She is so cute when she does that. Maiko has a cute voice and I love when she switches from Japanese to English. I think that is like "thank you for the meal prayer". Correct me please if wrong.
Hello Paulo. I stumbled across this video and I decided to watch. I thought it was fascinating how the first Bento you grabbed was the kid’s bento when you walked into the shop. Who knew that in the future you would be buying it for your own adorable son!🥰💕
I especially love this video. The beauty about bentos in Japan is it’s really hard to find a bad bento. You may find some that you might not like but never badly made ones.
Ya gotta do more like this! BOTH of you, do these reviews! It totally makes the viewing experience sooo much more authentic! (Sorry, your solo work is awesome) Great job! Thank you very much!
The fact you include the ones that weren't good is one of the reason's I like your channel. Glad I can trust you to not deceive. Thanks for all the great info.
Thanks for showing us all the great food you can get from Tokyo station, we've been through Tokyo station so many times but with how big and busy it was, it kind of put us off! But now I know we missed out on some decent food options! Great job Paolo and Maiko 👍
For all the vegans out there, don't fret! T's Tantan sells a vegan bento box at Tokyo station, and you can also find this same bento box at other bento vendors around the station, just ask for "vegetarian bento". My wife had it and it was delicious!
Just wanna thank your girlfriend for recommending that daruma doll bento. I just had it on the Shinkansen to Awara Onsen and it’s the best bento I have ever eaten.
I'm loving your videos. I'm planning to visit Tokyo in September and this will be first holiday outside of Australia and as some who has a limited budget and traveling solo .l find your content so helpful in planning my holiday
Hello! Paolo and Maiko! Thanks 4 doing this video! Now i know what Bento i Will buy if I’m going 2 Tokyo (again) More Videos to come! GOD bless both of U🙏🏻
I wish you guys made this video a month before! I had such a hard time picking bento at Tokyo Station and I wasn't the happiest with mine. The daruma one looks so fun! My bf had an octopus one though that was very yummy. It comes in a clay pot if anyone is interested. Super worth it!
14:25 actually we just bought a train and my melody that u can put your food and drink in few weeks ago at macdo xD it was really nice because its also a 2 way so u can also hang it on the car sit
The Shinkansen bento makes a happy meal look cheap and stupid! I didn't realize Tokyo Station had so many bento places! I would've liked to see a bit more video of walking up to the counter just to get a frame of reference instead of a map. However, the review of the food is what is important. I love Paolo's reaction to food he likes and Maiko always pops her eyes open and exclaims oishiiiiii with a mouthful of food. haha. Looking forward to the next episode! Thanks again!
That was some mouthwatering toro slice. Tokyo station was so big! And full of criss crossing salarymen who walked fast. And they were your competitor along side housewives at 8pm discount hour :D Thank you for the vid, I’ll be sure to check it next time
I wish I get to try one of those bento! I usually just bring 7eleven snacks into shinkansen trip when I was in Japan. But now I heard they have halal bentos so I hope to try them next time hehe
Great video! Ive been a fan of your content for some time. Its great to see what bento boxes are available because im heading back to Tokyo at the end of December. Keep up the good work!
Tokyo station is one of the best place to get train station bento! If i remember correctly, there's this 1 big shop that has a hugeee variety of bento to choose from, from the regular to the exotics! Thanks for the video, Paolo! Cheers from Jakarta! **Edit** That shop is the 3rd shop Paolo mentioned!
Literally had the same bento from Yamanobori when we visited home couple month ago! We took it to Chiba, Softbank Hawks last season game and it was amazing!
This is interesting, funny also, but mainly quiet explanatory video, thank you for sharing. :) I'll be in Japan soon, my 3rd time already but my wife's first one, and I'm doing some good research in order to bring to her some good, hopefully the best, experiences possible. I'm following your videos for some time and all of it is so good what makes us so much more anxious to be there in Japan! Thank you again for sharing! Please send our regards to your wife also, she made this video funnier! Isn't she kawaii desho? she reminds me my niece. :)
Great stuff as always. Really cool hearing both of your takes on everything with food, especially Maiko being native. I'm with you though - all about the fried chicken, katsu, and anything like it!
Paolo, I love your and Maiko's videos and the Japanese SUBTITLES you have added; as I am trying to learn Japanese. I know I am asking a lot but a JAPANESE LANGUAGE VOICE OVER that could be switched ON AND OFF to go with the SUBTITLES would make this one of the best Japanese learning tools that I have come across. You guys are speaking every day useful language and I cannot really find any other site or with your level of enthusiasm. YOU GUYS ROCK !!
Your videos are excellent and informative.. reading up everything now on Shibuya, your hometown as we'll be there in 29 days .. can't wait... Thank you @Pablo!
I'm heading to Japan at the end of April (During Golden Week) and one of the biggest highlights is the Shinkasen from Tokyo-Kyoto and back......Pick up a few Bentos along the way..... Honestly, I want those child ones just as a souvenir
Kaiseki would be my favourite! But I wish there's sweet beans in it though. Old person taste. Hahahah.. yes this old person here but with a young heart!
Came across your channel early this year and subscribed right away because your contents and videos are very very informative. Your videos actually made me plan a trip to Tokyo in April next year. I want to explore all the places you've featured but the only one thing i am nervous about is moving around Tokyo by train. I am so initimidated by the whole metro system. I am afraid i might get lost in the sea of people and take the wrong train.
The first bowl, considering each piece of those sashimi could cost $7, that bowl is a great deal! Can’t wait to go back to Japan. ESP with $$$ so strong right now. 😂
Maiko! It's good to have opinions from you and Maiko, that way it seems less biased and it's also great for you to have shops other than Ekibenya Matsuri. For me I always go for the salmon/salmon roe, saba sushi, or self heating gyutan. Funny that my self heating box did work properly last time. Perhaps another video just for the self heating types of bento+some other interesting types?
Ohh I'm obsessed with Ekiben nd I would go straight for the old person taste one hahha🤣 didn't know there are Kaiseki Ekiben whuoo. Thank you so much for sharing, this was a viewer service for me only because haha, I love them so much and can't get enough from them ^^/
nice video, it reminds me of my childhood back 20 years ago, I used to watch japanese TV program called TV Champion, and there was one episode where the contestants need to guess which bento made from each train station. I think at that time each train station have unique bento that distinguish each other. Wondering if they still have it now...
YESSS! Thanks for reminding me of that show! I remember the train bento episode as well, and how one contestant guessed even before tasting because he recognized the stair layout, and another from the peas in the bento haha
They all look so yummy!! My first taste of uni was in NYC and ever since I’ve been wanting to eat more. Hoping I can visit Japan one day and eat all the things 💕 Thank you for another great video! 😊
See, I thought number 8 looked the best out of them all. I love pickled/fermented foods - and it's super healthy to boot. I try to be more vegetarian these days anyway. How hard is it to be vegetarian in Japan? What if you don't like seafood? I like shrimp, but I hate fish, don't really care much for the rest of it either - lobster, crab, etc.
Hi Paolo! have you seen vegetarian bento in Tokyo station? It was so hard to me (a non japanese speaker) to fin anything but salad. Thanks for your work, i really like your videos! Keep going ♥ hugs from Chile
I'm a vegan but for some reason I can not stop watching your videos... I would love if you made a vegan japanese food video... I know is hard but that would be awesome
i like how she says "itadakimasu" in every video before eating
Aren’t Japanese people supposed to do that?
She is so cute when she does that. Maiko has a cute voice and I love when she switches from Japanese to English. I think that is like "thank you for the meal prayer". Correct me please if wrong.

Koenigg99 ty for this!
Yeah cheers for that. I was just wondering about that myself.
I can eat
Chicken, mutton, beef.
And I am a Muslim. So the meat has to be cut in a specific way...
So if I go there, I will only get to try vegetarian
How about pp who dont eat soy and pork meat? Am I going to have problems to find something nice? Dont wanna eat veggie food XD
I love T’s Tantan!
Paolo... branch out and refine your tastes! There’s more to life than fried chicken! Ha!
Good episode, having a bento on the shinkensen was a bucket list tick, yum.
"Old person tastes"...should I be offended? Just kidding. Always enjoy your videos! Thanks for producing.
you should, ask him to take you around when you are in japan! :p haaaa

"Refined old person taste" 😅😅 best description ever!
I am always amazed by the amount of food you guys manage to gobble away. Thanks for all the great tips!
Just wanna thank your girlfriend for recommending that daruma doll bento. I just had it on the Shinkansen to Awara Onsen and it’s the best bento I have ever eaten.
I'm glad there was an almost vegetarian option, thanks to Maiko

I like the Kaiseki one as I like a variety of tastes, textures & lots of veg. Most of all is visual apeal.

The kid's bento was the original 1964 Shinkansen 0 Series train! Until I saw this video, the only train bento box was the N700 Series.
