Hello @fredvanleeuwen9996! Sorry for any confusion.
Equifruit imports both organic Fairtrade bananas and conventional Fairtrade bananas. These have two separate production systems.
The organic Fairtrade bananas receive only organic/natural inputs and fertilizers supervised by the organic certification body.
Conventional Fairtrade bananas receive lower-risk chemicals (fertilizers) allowed by Fairtrade International. The most harmful chemicals are banned.
Growing organic bananas everywhere is impossible due to the high humidity in some locations.
We buy 100% Fairtrade bananas that ensure fair pay and safe working conditions for farmers. It also includes an additional social premium that we pay for community social and environmental projects.
