    Oh this is really cool! It's the perfect intersection of jewelry and armor, and the ruffles are a REALLY COOL twist that you cannot get from traditional chain mail!! I love how it turned out, and RIP to your hands and wrists oh my goodness

    Thank you algorithm!
    I've been looking at knitting "chainmail" like the original Monty Python to wear at Ren faires but this is super interesting because I crochet too.
    I'll probably still do the knit chainmail but this is so interesting to see the awesome ideas people come up with.

      knitted chainmail would be SO pretty with a larger project, & thank you!

    I'm in art school and just last semester I was trying to do this exact thing (crochet/knit 'chainmail' armor) for my fibers class! It ended up being too time consuming and costly because I was making a chest piece, so I went with metalic cord instead. Mine far campier than this, but I feel like the algorithm really hit with this one :) so cool!

    This being my first video of your's I'm watching, the whiplash I got from "Crocheting chainmail" to "LOOK AT MY MIRROR!" Was Wiiiild 🤣Both things turned out great though!! The chainmail was very KnightClownCore and honestly nothing has described me better then that. I do think I'd like to give it a try 🤔

    learned a few weeks ago that the ICONIC lady macbeth beetle wing gown was crocheted because it had a similar look to chainmail and ever since then the idea of crochet chainmail has been haunting me I have been so obsessed with the idea of crocheting chainmail

    As someone that's worked with wire alot in a similar manner. You can take it out but it's not easy to do and can leave the wire with bends and you can break wire that thin if you're not careful. What you're doing looks good and leaving mistakes that don't interfere with purpose alone is a good call.

    I think this would work well in Pride, Prejudice, and Zombies too!!!!!!

    This was really interesting and looks really cool and unique, I think it would be neat to have it woven in with yarn as combined mixed material
    pieces.

    These books are so long but I'm sure people have done illustrations and stuff, but the storm light archives by Brandon Sanderson is my favorite book series ever, and that's including classics like Lord of the rings. Fashion isn't a huge part of the series, but it's absolutely present because Brandon Sanderson does such a good job of world building, and I would love to see some of the clothing mentioned, or even clothing that you think could exist within that universe. One of the characters, shellan, is an artist and they include sketches of hers within the books and you could find those online, and she does sketch some fashion as well as lots of creatures. Maybe you could draw inspiration from those?

    You look like Nyssa of Traken (old school Doctor Who) when wearing the ruffles. So pretty! Yeah, SciFi, but she comes from a culture which looks old-fashioned, so it fits. Bravo to you for persisting, I'm sure it DID hurt your hands and fingers, wire is tough to work with. Also very wise not to try to undo it, you'd never be able to straighten the wire, and it would likely break.
    I have to wonder, which would take longer - doing this crochet, or making something similar with actual chain maille.

    • @crystald3655
      @crystald3655 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can but you would likely need to work with shorter lengths to slide the beads on.

  • @GallowglassAxe

    Great video and that looks absolutely gorgeous. Though feel free about testing it but I don't think its going to work well as actual armor. Not because its crochet but because its made of thin copper wire. Now if you could crochet a piece out of 20 gauge (idea 16gauge) steel wire then we could do a comparable test. But as you can imagine that's going to put a lot more strain on your wrists.

    I tried this years ago & while super hard on my hands & the pieces looked pretty good, they were not durable. I think if flattened to keep the shape & put onto material it might keep the over all shape better but I just gave up on it.

    I was debating something similar for an overly ambitious project, and one question I had was how damaging it was to the hook?

    • @maybebre

      From what I can tell there is little to no damage at all (I see nothing so far but I will test it with yarn later)

    I can believe it!!
    I've been thinking about this for the past 2 or 3 weeks!! I'm not thinking of a chainmail, but a fence xD
    I have a question about this one though, how does it feel in the skin? when using it? if I were to add this to a t-shirt.. would it hurt?

    • @maybebre
      @maybebre  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you tuck in the ends well (I didn't lol) it shouldn't hurt, however, if I don't put something underneath I do have slight sensory issues bc it is not soft. But no it does not hurt!
