Well in reality if you think about it the Pacific war was a war on its own totally different to the European war where you could say it was technically two separate wars just by the difference in destruction they both were
@* AnimalHeadSpirit * Well be glad God does exist because Judgement is coming to Hollywood. You don't think that place isn't full of the most repulsive wickedness on the face of this Earth? Just because he is your favorite actor does not mean he isn't an evil pedophile.

Hatfield, where this was primarily filmed, was the aerodrome of the De Havilland aircraft company as well as the London Flying Club and DH Flying School. The company was founded by Geoffery De Havilland, cousin of Olivia De Havilland, both from a very wealthy family of landed gentry. From all his DH aircraft of WW1, through the interwar Moths, Dragons & Comet racer, the WW2 Mosquito & Hornet, the world's first production jet airliner, the Comet, to the Vampire, Venom & Sea Vixen, many piston & jet engines, missiles such as Fire Streak and Blue Streak (intended to also launch satellites), the DH125 (later BAe125) exec jet and the Trident, all manufactured at Hatfield. Then, after joining into British Aerospace, the 146 and eventually work that culminated in the Airbus 300. Sadly it is now slowly becoming a housing estate, although many historic buildings do remain.
I thought that after seeing the pacific once, but after I seeing it as many times as I did band of brothers I started liking it just as much. Also reading Eugene Sledge's ''With the old breed at Peleliu and Okinawa'' helps you get more atached to the soldiers and their stories. I think the pacific and its characters are just as beautifully portayed as the characters in BoB. If you have not read ''Band of Brothers'', "with the old breed'' or '' A helmet for my pillow'', I highly reccomend it!
I bet a lot of the actors had Cub Scout backgrounds. Their attention to detail and realism is top notch. I was in the Cub Scouts in the 70s and can totally relate to the actors.
@spawnofwheezedog Yeah xD Apparently when he got there his American accent was so good that some of the cast wouldn't believe he was British! :L He's called Damian Lewis.
@alldelicious He wasn't really comparing it but just stating that when the soldiers back then were at the highest risk of being killed when they were reloading their guns. If your in a gun fight and you ran out of ammo then you hope that your buddies will be able to give you cover long enough to reload.
Their attention to detail and realism is top notch. I was in the Cub Scouts in the 70s and can totally relate. One hike it rained the whole time. We were so disappointed.
The british airborne didnt have reserve chutes The x parachute had a quick release Many american airborne drowned in the flooded fields due to inability to extract themselves swiftly In market garden other chutes were used!
You are exactly right saskboy. Most of the German soldiers were "kids" who were only fighting for their country and were not NAZIs. They were only fighting for the honor of their country.
Aye, that was indeed funny as hell. About 30 years ago I volunteered to join 1Parachute Battalion. The things I could/would willingly do back then I call today madness.
@JediKnight0405 no debating it! Pacific was good as well but did not compare. I thought that Pacific did bring something that BoB did not and I respect that but it still was not of the same level.
The set designers get little credit compared to the actors but think about it all these buildings they've created around London they created four different countries and four different towns on the one set
People: Since all the Easy company members are gone, what about the other world war 2 veterans from the other companies that belonged to the 506th regiment such as Abel company, Dog company, Fox company? Are there some surviving members of any those companies?
Why are we talking about Germans? Why can' t we just talk about the making of the series?... I was amazed that how great they did with the series. They put a lot of effort into it.
I think both are fantastic, but i found The Pacific to be much more emotional and harrowing. Band of Brothers was better at depicting comradery and the bonds amoung the troops however.
yeah, not all germans where bad during this time of war, people also tried to do cou day tas(that's how it's pronounced not spelled) but yeah like in the movie "Valkyrie" which was a true story.
At 6:34 he talks about the paratroopers being "experimental" and new... He must have forgotten that the German paratroopers (Fallschirmjägers) were used in combat and dropped behind enemy lines during the early stages of WW2 (invasion of Poland, Belgium, Holland). A famous attack is the completely airborn capture of Fort Eben-Emael in Belgium by the German Fallschirmjägers.
Wow! The actual footage from the most famous military unit ever. The Germans had no change against these elite troops. My relatives fought in WW2 as well, but did not have the skills of these people. I had a relative that helped with the 505th in forming it. He may have even met the heroes of Easy Company.
Ditto...remember, the Iraqi "Republican Guard" actually thought the war was won, and the Allies were defeated in Gulf War 2, and were genuinely shocked when we came rolling into downtown Baghdad on the M1s. All thanks to propaganda.
Must have been a pinnacle of their careers to be part of this fabulous production ...they all did such a great job ....best TV series ever.
Wow the actors really trained like real soldiers.. thats why this series is the best series ever!
Their attention to detail and realism is top notch. I was in the Cub Scouts in the 70s and can totally relate to the actors.
I love how the actor who plays Luz is still doing those impression off-set haha
I think it was because of his impressions of Dye that they put it in the show.
band of brothers is more based upon the combat and the and comradery, but the Pacific is more based upon the emotion and the real life horror of war
Totally agree
Both are still great great series. Some of my favorite HBO work.
Well in reality if you think about it the Pacific war was a war on its own totally different to the European war where you could say it was technically two separate wars just by the difference in destruction they both were
@Stetson Darwin yeah nobody believes that
Wellll
Thank God there were men like these to fight for our country then. Thank God there are men and women who fight for us today!!!
Stven Sipielberg and Tom Hanks and all the actors did a great work in Band of Brothers;I still ahev it in VHS tapes.
the actors are soooo good in this thing
lol Winters is British? he has a damn good Pensylvania farm boy accent
4q'
My Elders fought and died fighting against the Germans in Crete, Egypt, Cassino, Italy in WWII.
“Their job was unique in that they had to jump out of planes”. Thank ya there David Spade.
everything Tom Hanks touches turns to gold
I wonder if that includes the little girls

It's always so crazy to find out actors are British, they can do American accents way too well lol
Just saw the serious Christmas Eve, don't get tired of watching as Saving Private Ryan. Love actors!!

Despite the actors their talents, you got to have a certain affinity with the ww2 to create this kind of excellent work, thank you guys.
I bet a lot of the actors had Cub Scout backgrounds. Their attention to detail and realism is top notch. I was in the Cub Scouts in the 70s and can totally relate to the actors.
RIP Major Winters true hero
i liked the pacific but it couldnt beat band of brothers. band of brothers had more of a connection among the men
Agreed. The events that occurred in The Pacific went by too fast, discouraging us from really getting to know the men
Captain Dye: captain Sobel why is your soldiers not moving?
Sobel: We were on a break!!!!
the bloke whos plays col sink is in loads of war films
@spawnofwheezedog Yeah xD Apparently when he got there his American accent was so good that some of the cast wouldn't believe he was British! :L He's called Damian Lewis.
One of the best Movies ever made 5/5
I would love a HBO series on the war in Africa

@RealityCheck86 Damien something...he did a great American accent.
One of the best warseries ever!!
"your strapped on 'what do u meen im strapped on! im not strapped on!' go go ! *pushes* 2000 3000- what the hell was that!"
The british airborne didnt have reserve chutes
The x parachute had a quick release
Many american airborne drowned in the flooded fields due to inability to extract themselves swiftly
In market garden other chutes were used!
hello is there a chance of re uploading this to a better quailty please
The actor who played Nixon was on House.
R.I.P Winters
I carried 148 lbs of equipment (including chute) when I jumped, and I only weighed 145 lbs. You can't weight (pun intended) to get out of the plane.
5.20-5.44
I LOVE it
1 1000 2 BAM!
whahaha
love them all
You know I just relized the actor who played Buck was also in Flags of Our Fathers as the officer Briefing Officer
Damian Lewis is kind of a genius
You are exactly right saskboy. Most of the German soldiers were "kids" who were only fighting for their country and were not NAZIs. They were only fighting for the honor of their country.
Stalingrad is a very good movie to view the war from the German point of view, I highly recommend it.
Oh I like. I'd hit that like button again and again if I could.
Great Series
this is my favorite TV movie ever. i think it's hard for a lot of people to understand that these are based on real events. I know it is for me
Well done for clearing that up for everybody
im glad they casted rick gomez for luz because he has the personality of him out of acting
Awesome series, but its funny as hell hearing these actors talking about how hard their 0-day "boot camp" was. Bless 'em!
Aye, that was indeed funny as hell. About 30 years ago I volunteered to join 1Parachute Battalion. The things I could/would willingly do back then I call today madness.
@alldelicious y? its called getting into your role, none of them are saying its on parr with what they went through
Just finished watching episodes 8, 9 & 10 yesterday (Saturday).
Anthony teodoro good story bro
Joe Toys real scent is WILD.
@JediKnight0405 no debating it! Pacific was good as well but did not compare. I thought that Pacific did bring something that BoB did not and I respect that but it still was not of the same level.
@JediKnight0405 well said sir
Oh no, a 10 day boot camp!? :O
@Hibrahizzle buy the DVD's?
@ndspencer07 but it's Ross.... the problem is his appearance on Friends...
both are good
what years did the filming take place
2003
@@Samn3212
Pretty unlikely, since it aired in 2001.
And the masterpiece called "Das Boot" movie about german submarine warfare.
@JediKnight0405 Have you see The Pacific yet?
my grandson asked me "were u a hero at war"?
I said " NO....i served in a company of heros".
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
The set designers get little credit compared to the actors but think about it all these buildings they've created around London they created four different countries and four different towns on the one set
5:01 Man, he is a good imitator!
Yes, a lot of the cast are British. Liebgot is Scottish, though.
People:

thank you so much for posting this!!!!
Tom Hanks looks a little skinny as he lost/was losing weight for Castaway.
I can't see Sobel as Sobel, all I can see is Ross.... Darn you Ross
@valentinopivac Would that be you? Und warum magst du dass nicht?
Anyone know the song in the background at 0:52?
Why are we talking about Germans?
Why can' t we just talk about the making of the series?...
I was amazed that how great they did with the series. They put a lot of effort into it.
5:01 Luz by nature
really? I thought it was the other way around. The Pacific was much more personal and intimate
@JediKnight0405 the pacific?
if there 10 day boot camp was that hard I'd like to see them go 3 months...
When I was still in school we went to a nearby military base for 1 day for a sort of 'bootcamp'. I was dead after that day lol
What's that line ? "We're Airborne, we're supposed to be surrounded!"
@spawnofwheezedog yepp i saw him and he told me exactly what u said
I think Stalingrad does a good job of showing the difference between regular German soldiers and the NAZIs.
I think both are fantastic, but i found The Pacific to be much more emotional and harrowing. Band of Brothers was better at depicting comradery and the bonds amoung the troops however.
what is the song on 6:35
Wish there was an HD version
Was Sobel really such a hardass? Thats what I want to know haha
It was
what the hell 12 acres of the same area?? that is cool
holy shit, I didnt know any of these actors were british
where can i watch this, the whole series?
HBO
The premise of Tropic Thunder.
@achtung000yo I think you can have a "ya and ya" in it XD
yeah, not all germans where bad during this time of war, people also tried to do cou day tas(that's how it's pronounced not spelled) but yeah like in the movie "Valkyrie" which was a true story.
where can I watch this in HD?
HBO
@JediKnight0405 that and the pacific
@PeterMayer ha ?

Well they were new for the American army
Hey! Isnt Capt Dale Dye the the.. the.. er... they guy
Band of Brothers > Pacific I'm afraid. Oh look, an Englishman in the lead role ;)
101st comment
The actor playing Lt. Winters is British?!?!?!
but Scott Rees thank you for your service but they didn't go to war to face the situation that you were in.
10 day boot camp lol...
Some of them probably got blisters
leibgottt and bull and luzzzzzzz

Nobody told these guys the difference between a clip and a magazine.
But the M1 did have a clip.
