the reason why they do not want to mention Led Zeppelin at any time is because the people and the media talk too much about being the reincarnation or a copy of Led Zeppelin, you have to understand they are just developing musicians with a great talent, they do not want to be label as the new Led Zeppelin, they simply want to make their music, their own style and it shows that it is their passion.
Like the comment and as if it had to be said led zeppelin was an influence i think its obvious im happy they didnt mention zep anyone who is a fan of greta van fleet is a fan of zeppelin its a give in I am so happy this band has emerged being a huge zeppelin fan hopefully theese young talented guys will make a very succesful name for themselves i say rock and roll boys!!!
The media talks about it so much because they sound exactly like Led Zeppelin. These guys have to be the laziest group of “musicians” to come out since The Black Keys.
Josh’s voice talking AND singing voice are so unique. Like I would say that it might just be a Michigan accent but his brother doesn’t have his voice, so unique
Personally, I really don't care if they sound too much like Led Zeppelin or not. I'm just glad that young kids from this generation even know who Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin are.

GVF is one of my favorite bands in the world and listening to their music is transcendent😌 also Josh, Jake, Sammy, and Danny are some of the most amazing, talented, funny, intelligent and kind people on the planet. I just love them so much🖤✨😌
Immediately before seeing this interview I watched a performance of GVF at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado. I remembered how in 1981 I had driven more than 1300 miles to be there on the night of my 21st birthday to see John Denver. Then, to my surprise, I see this video and Josh mentions John Denver among his 3 greatest influences. Did not expect that. About all I can say is, "Far out!"
And for all the Led Zeppelin rip off comments, just keep in mind that half of Zeppelins catalog are other people songs, and their sound wouldn't have been made possible without directly copying American Blues. Page and Plant would be the first ones to tell you that. So in essence you're whining about who stole from the person who stole from the person who stole
Ya...but...nobody sounded like Zeppelin before Zeppelin...there is influence, then there is almost identical style and sound. I'm ok with it though....Proof rock and roll ain't dead...fuck Beiber and the rap shite...these kids can rock.
IAmStoned I saw a zeppelin at Market square Arena in 1977 in Indianapolis. Is that good enough for you? Jimmy Page was the most in-demand session guitarist in London in the mid-to-late 60s because he could mimic American blues rock guitar better than anyone. Robert Plant sang in a cover band that the Name Escapes me right now, that did a lot of Blues covers Howlin Wolf, Etc when he was recruited by Page. Douchebag, listen to me! Do you know what the first song that these four musicians played together when they met at Jimmy Page's estate in 1968? Train kept a-rollin. The American Blues classic. The first song they ever played together according to the book Hammer of the Gods. Sure they develop their own sound. But they were also one of the most influenced bands that there ever were. In fact in an interview in Rolling Stone Robert Plant was talking about his relationship with Alison Krauss and Union Station by saying that he believes he was an American blues man in a former life. Led Zeppelin is no different than the Rolling Stones. Completely an absolutely built on the foundation of American Blues. In fact, skiffle, which is what all these English musicians grew up on, is a folk style of music that uses 12 Bar Blues and other Blues progressions. So do you think I have a clue now you stupid douchebag? Did you ever see Zeppelin in person? The only one in the band The could ever even claim the weren't purely American Blues was John Paul Jones who fancies himself a jazz musician and keyboardist before he took up bass for Studio work. But then again, jazz is also distinctly American. So obviously you don't have any idea what you're actually f****** talking about. When the band Spirit recently sued Led Zeppelin because of the similarities between their song and the intro to Stairway to Heaven, the biggest reason everybody knew they would be found innocent is because if Spirit could successfully sue them, then so could be estate of every single Blues performer that lived in the first half of the 20th century, because they influence Zeppelin that much too. Saying that Led Zeppelin is not almost purely influenced by American Blues is like saying Elvis Presley was not influenced by American Blues. When Robert Plant first met Jimmy Page Robert Plant went through Jimmy Page's record collection and was amazed that Jimmy had all these old original pressings of Robert Johnson, Howling Wolf, Leadbelly, Etc. You have absolutely no f****** idea what you're talking about.
IAmStoned so you're some f****** douchebag that claims that I regurgitate everything that I read online. I was an expert about the ship before there even was an online, you douchebag! I was going to concerts when computers were only for the government and major corporations, I grew up reading books and listening to records. This band might sound a lot like Zeppelin, which is true, but you know what? You can tell they're not trying to rip Zeppelin off, because I haven't heard this band play any covers. And also, they are not engineered in the studio to sound like Zeppelin. If you want someone who actually used the studio engineering to try to mimic Zeppelin, you need to look no farther than the 80s band Kingdom Come. Now that was a band that tried to rip off Zeppelin. In fact I've already been through this argument 30 years ago about bands like Kingdom Come and Whitesnake especially. David Coverdale made a career mimicking Robert Plant. But then again, I saw White Snake at Deer Creek North of Indianapolis in 89, I believe 88 or 89. Were you even born then douchebag?
"This band might sound a lot like Zeppelin, which is true, but you know what? You can tell they're not trying to rip Zeppelin off, because I haven't heard this band play any covers." - Well then let me enlighten you. There are dozens of videos of them playing Zeppelin songs on TH-cam. Not just performing the studio version either, but playing live versions. Go see for yourself. The guitarist of GVF also said in an interview he spent thousands of hours learning every lick Jimmy Page ever played. This band started off doing ONLY Zeppelin covers. So, you're WRONG!
IAmStoned could be wrong about Greta Van Fleet not playing covers, I never claimed to be an expert on that band. And sure there are similarities, but if you think this is the first band that people have tried to accuse of sounding like Zeppelin, well, you haven't been alive very long. You met page. Yeah, I'm sure you clipped his toenails. He only Rose to Fame in the first place because he could mimic guitar sounds. You understand that? Mimic. This is a stupid f****** conversation because the only person that can say they weren't influenced by anybody is whoever taught Robert Johnson how to play a guitar. In the only people who have been truly ripped off our American Blues men. And since you aren't old enough to have seen many of the Great bands I've seen live let me tell you something else since yourself are such as Zeppelin expert. The only time I ever saw them was that show in Market Square Arena, and it was a very ordinary concert. They didn't really sound that good at all and most people walked out of there thinking the same thing that I did. A lousy show, because years later we know that page was strung out on H, and Bonhomme lived his life as a full-time alcoholic. And they played 20-minute versions of a few of their hits and on at least two of them they went in to Elvis Presley Blues medleys. The grand f****** point I am trying to make is that for as much borrowing a zeppelin did, nobody has the right to say that someone doesn't have the right to borrow off of them. Heart played a lot of Zeppelin covers. Do they suck as well? And I promise you I am stoned or whatever your stupid name is, if you met me in person you would not call me buttercup
Im obsessed with their music and listened to them for 3 days straight without a break in January. It was so peaceful to just walk through Washington DC and look at everything in the snow while listening to my favorite band. They’re so fantasmical
What the heck is the point of this, "they copied Zep." B.S. For this sound to come out of this era, of Beiber or Minaj, this is a God Sent Sound. Real rock coming from some young adults from the 2000' s what?!?!?! Keep it up GVF, just found out about y'all today.
J. Church their are great rock bands today no one really talks about. They’re not famous cuz they came out with a decent album. They’re famous because they’re an obvious knockoff of one of the best rock bands in history. They’re not trying to be original. And it’s just not really cool. I’ve seen better Led Zeppelin cover bands. And I know I know. They’re not a direct cover band. But totally ripping off a sound of such a great band just isn’t cool. Rock should be evolving. We don’t need to go back half a century. We can’t. Thiss what happens when people try tho
Andrew O They grew up pretty much on the same blues artists Led Zeppelin was heavily influenced by (because of their dad, who is a huge blues man), so no fucking wonder they have the same old classic rock sound to them. I've seen a lot of their live shows and interviews, they're really humble and chill guys who are really passionate about what they're doing, success came to them unexpectedly and they're floored by it. And no one's saying rock isn't evolving, there are so many great rock bands out there- both famous and not
Great band. It's so refreshing to see and hear young kids really rocking. If they are similar or not to Led Zeppelin ... that is not an issue. They are really creative and they sound fantastic.
I am 52 and I'm so utterly impressed with these guys ..i have all my grown kids listening now!! No one has played guitars like this or sang like this since the 880s!! Most don't even want to practice anything kind enough to get that good! Please keep it up guys!! We need wayy more u put there to carry on real rock and roll!!
I've noticed that they're a mixture of different types of rock like grunge, punk rock, and other rock classics. They're bringing the old and making it new again.
Great Band period.... no matter what people say about LZ cover band. Thanks for keeping the roch spirit alive, now that we have such terrible music aka regueton
Yeah, Josh’s voice sounds a lot like Plant’s. But, come on. They’re not copying anything from zeppelin. Give their music a REAL listen, there’s just WAAAY more blues inspiration from way before zeppelin that they try to emulate just like zepp did. These guys are brand new
Jamamegapr Zeppelin were very bluesy and they're extremely like Led Zeppelin, the singer even does the same grunts and onstage movements that Plant did
Jamamegapr youre so delusional, the only thing that separates these guys from zeppelin is a different singer who tried to copy plant, a shitter guitarist, a much shitter drummer, and a much shitter bassist, with shitter song writing
This video is three years old but I have recently become obsessed with this band. It's so exhausting to explain over, and over again that they are not a cover band. The new album is beautiful, and I don't think Led Zeppelin has ever produced songs like that. They have their own unique sound, he may have the ability to sound like Led Zeppelin but this doesn't mean he's any less talented. I try to get people to listen to their new album but they are so closed-minded they won't even give it a chance because they are a "cover band." It's truly upsetting and I hope they become more successful than they already are now.
Your vocals are phenomenal and the band is just kick ass. Surprised that Led Zeppelin was not mentioned. I came across Greta Van Fleet while searching for my Led Zeppelin songs and was happy to find this amazing group
I'm Brazilian and the music of these guys is unbelievable, finally after so long, we have a band to take us of that garbage musical scenario that we are living, thank you greta van fleet !!!
I think imo the reason why they don’t mention a single word about Led Zeppelin is because they are already being compared to Zep, and if they mention that then people will more likely point out that they are just a ripoff of Led Zeppelin. They don’t wanna be called ripoffs of Zeppelin because who does? They want to be their own thing so that they could really make a mark, but that’s just my opinion though
Josh is going to be one of the great voices of this generation. he has an exceptional voice with superb control. I mean they are all talented, and jake is a wonderful song writer and guitarist.... But Josh is one of those rare Freddie Mercury, Robert plant, Rob Halford voices that only comes around every so often. He is truly Gifted.
Johnmoore do you know what the heck you’re saying?! It’s the past of rock n roll… it’s rock n roll half a century ago and it needs to develop… not go back
Andrew O I agree but these guys themselves are the future. Sure, they’ve gotta evolve. But when rock and roll was in its prime, bands were taking influences from another time too. These guys need experience and time, and they will be a force to be reckoned with
Theyre not the reincarnation of Led, they are actually the connection between new generations to the classic legends of rock& roll, GretaVan Fleet has made my son to do more research about the music I like!
They drew me in like a force listening to “Highway Tune!” Zeppelin influence, Yes! But now completely only hear GVF! Absolutely love how unique, creative, and talented these young men are!
I love them. You can tell that they as a really young band we’re influenced by zeppelin in their early early years. That’s just who their influence was. Once they got comfortable as a band they were able to take their influence and make it their own as heard on their newest album. They are outstanding and such an important band now. Unreal talent
My 2 favorite tunes. Black Smoke Rising and Safari. Is any one hearing a little Rodney James Dio in his voice? Also Lover, Leaver would make Judas Priest proud. Black Smoke would make Rush proud. So Zeppelin, yes, but there is a ton of influence in this band. I'm loving them more & more. Excited for Madison next March.
i understand why people are calling them out for sounding a lot like Led Zep. i really think since they're just starting out and obviously have mass amounts of potential we just need to let them do their thing and grow as artists. they're SUPER young and obviously have lots of passion and i'm excited to see what they become! i personally am super excited that there is some hope for the future when it comes to music, these guys are so refreshing from everything else out there.
I agree with Jake, safari song really shows what they’ve got, and flower power shows another side as well. But all amazing songs can’t wait to buy a CD
the reason why they do not want to mention Led Zeppelin at any time is because the people and the media talk too much about being the reincarnation or a copy of Led Zeppelin, you have to understand they are just developing musicians with a great talent, they do not want to be label as the new Led Zeppelin, they simply want to make their music, their own style and it shows that it is their passion.
They may take the Zep style to another place, but don't try to deny the influences. It does not look good. Embrace it or move away from it.
I love it that they are keeping this alive. Zep is my favorite band right next to Yes.
Yep…and not just their sound HE EVEN LEARNED PLANT'S MANNERISMS BETTER THAN PLANT HIMSEL. WTF!!

Their music is actually pretty original if you give it a listen. Their emulation of Led Zeppelin is honest and all they’re trying to show you is, “This is who we are. This is who inspired us, and this is what it has influenced us to create.”
Thomas Holt lol. I somehow doubt they’re a popular band because they’re so “original”… if they didn’t want to be known as a Led Zeppelin knock off maybe they should’ve tried just a tad harder to be original …
So, you mean to tell me that Flower Power isn't a call back to Eric Clapton? It's a Led Zeppelin Knock-off?
Well put, brother.
If their emulating Zeppelin was honest they wouldn't deny that they were their main if not only influence
Thank you! 👏🏼 there is not a thing out there today that’s not influenced by something else in some sort of way!
Please you KNOW that Robert Plant is your #1 vocal inspiration.
lmao no doubt, how can they not mention zeppelin at all.
I hope they don’t stop sounding like Zeppelin just because they sound like zeppelin
Apparently they didnt mean to sound like them at all. The bands they said inspired their style all have aspects of them that make up their music. Just happened to end up sounding like Zepp
Sometimes artists hide their inspirations, even though it's clear where they came from.
Probably want to distance themselves from that comparison cause then they just seem like a zep cover band even tho the resemblance is undeniable lol
I remember that Rush was called a Zep knock-off; may you doubters eat your words; these kids are destined for greatness!
Rush never sounded almost exactly the same as Zeppelin though. This bands a carbon fucking copy.
Never heard that and completely disagree with the claim. I saw Rush open a show for Michael Penera in 74 in Detroit. So I have followed them their entire career. Not a thing like Zep. I have seen Rush a half a dozen times since then.
In Science I Trust It's true; a lot of people thought Working Man was Led Zeppelin the 1st time it was played on the radio
I guess I could see that if you had not been familiar with it. I saw them play it live in 74 so I never had that confusion.
It's thanks to us "haters" that they'll change their sound and morph towards something ORIGINAL…do us all a favor! Hell, they even got the same damn Bonham snare drum.

So cool i love this!
I agree with Jake's "Safari"! Badass song
Im obsessed with their music and listened to them for 3 days straight without a break in January. It was so peaceful to just walk through Washington DC and look at everything in the snow while listening to my favorite band. They’re so fantasmical
So many reasons just here to adore these multi talented young men
Josh:fantasmogorgal
Jake:love
Those r the most jake and josh responses ive ever heard
Lol you sound so jealous it hurts.
Domingo C not really…
Andrew O They grew up pretty much on the same blues artists Led Zeppelin was heavily influenced by (because of their dad, who is a huge blues man), so no fucking wonder they have the same old classic rock sound to them. I've seen a lot of their live shows and interviews, they're really humble and chill guys who are really passionate about what they're doing, success came to them unexpectedly and they're floored by it. And no one's saying rock isn't evolving, there are so many great rock bands out there- both famous and not
Andrew O I bet you’re one of those people who were calling for rock to be revived but turned their back on these guys for sounding too much like Led.
Great band. It's so refreshing to see and hear young kids really rocking. If they are similar or not to Led Zeppelin ... that is not an issue. They are really creative and they sound fantastic.
These guys rock. From The Fires is a phenomenal album all the way through!!!
led zeppelin is better
EndLevelBoss fuck yeah it is. Not a bad song IMO. Rock and roll desperately needed a band like this. 🔥🤘
THESE MANZ ARE SO ATTRACTIVE I AM YELLING
Way more than all these same looking, dull, uninteresting boys...
One of the greatest bands I ever heard. They opened for Halestorm and blew my mind, have loved them ever since. ❤
Greatest ?? Hohohohoh
How boring
00:13 love Jake's laugh.
“The instruments I play are usually sexual” God I love him 😂🤣
I am 52 and I'm so utterly impressed with these guys ..i have all my grown kids listening now!! No one has played guitars like this or sang like this since the 880s!! Most don't even want to practice anything kind enough to get that good! Please keep it up guys!! We need wayy more u put there to carry on real rock and roll!!
Revisiting this 3 years later. I’m emotional.
Great sound, don't stop. Giving us the best .
“Love” with that cute freaking grin gets me every single time 🥺😂
Black smoke rising is one of my favourite songs now, I just get chills every time I listen to it
Pretty honored to say that there a local from where I live. Its such a small town too. Pretty cool
Bay city or frankenmuth. One of my buddies is from bay city
Frankenmuth
I've noticed that they're a mixture of different types of rock like grunge, punk rock, and other rock classics. They're bringing the old and making it new again.
Great Band period.... no matter what people say about LZ cover band. Thanks for keeping the roch spirit alive, now that we have such terrible music aka regueton
lustardo yeah they bring some great roch spirit for sure 🙄
Christ.. and I thought "trap" was bad.
Yeah, Josh’s voice sounds a lot like Plant’s. But, come on. They’re not copying anything from zeppelin. Give their music a REAL listen, there’s just WAAAY more blues inspiration from way before zeppelin that they try to emulate just like zepp did. These guys are brand new
stop bullshitting yourself of course theyre just a shitter led zeppelin
Rory No, shithead. If the only thing you can hear from them is Zeppelin, then u have no knowledge of blues
Thats what ive been saying. Their musicality is more similar to The Who with plant like vocals IMO
Ok buddy
Haters are gonna hate.
its funny because black smoke rising was actually the first song i heard of theirs, and now me and my dad listen to them all the time
Your vocals are phenomenal and the band is just kick ass. Surprised that Led Zeppelin was not mentioned. I came across Greta Van Fleet while searching for my Led Zeppelin songs and was happy to find this amazing group
Love these guys. I here the Yes, Rush, Zep and The Who all at once.
They are gonna be the next big legends
I'm Brazilian and the music of these guys is unbelievable, finally after so long, we have a band to take us of that garbage musical scenario that we are living, thank you greta van fleet !!!
Awesome band, awesome guys
Holy cow batman these guys rock
Excellent, I really like to hear them.
Oh, and I love Josh's smile.
Jake is the best
Low key, but gets his point across. ❤
I think imo the reason why they don’t mention a single word about Led Zeppelin is because they are already being compared to Zep, and if they mention that then people will more likely point out that they are just a ripoff of Led Zeppelin. They don’t wanna be called ripoffs of Zeppelin because who does? They want to be their own thing so that they could really make a mark, but that’s just my opinion though
stay humble ..you are so beautiful ..kind and important..do not let the others let you in
Fantastic band & great sense of humor. Love their sound.
I love hip hop, rap, r&b and old school. But I absolutely love this band. They jam pretty hard.
They have such a good vibe. So nice.
Demmi Russo wowww se ve que tiene un espectei bastante amplio de géneros musicales. Sin mencionar que Demmi Russo es un excelente cantante.
They are so adorable, love their music.
I'm stealing it. my opposition to his opinion. love it
You may have showed up Late during our Time. But you are Welcome to Stay......Please!
Josh’s smile is the best smile in music.... don’t tell me otherwise XD
Josh’s diction is so strong 😂he talks like a 50 year old man teaching 😂it’s cute though I love it
Literally Josh Some chick accused me of killing it on the stage 😂😂😂
So refreshing to hear music like this in our generation.
They look so cool, I hope never change.
Rock & Roll!!!!! It's back baby..
A tear fell from my eye when they talked about their inspiration.
RESPECT
This is the future of Rock and Roll
Johnmoore do you know what the heck you’re saying?! It’s the past of rock n roll… it’s rock n roll half a century ago and it needs to develop… not go back
Andrew O I agree but these guys themselves are the future. Sure, they’ve gotta evolve. But when rock and roll was in its prime, bands were taking influences from another time too. These guys need experience and time, and they will be a force to be reckoned with
@@Andge121 when it developed into modern rock, you fuckers complained about it and stopped listening.
Josh is right! Black smoke rising was their very first song I heard and I fell in love 😍
when my crush showed me these guys, he didn't know I would fall in love with them instead of him
Safari song.... Mi primera cancion❤❤❤ y la q más amo
The instruments that I play... are usually sexual😂😂
That is so David L.Roth🔥
Lmao
black smoke rises live sat coachella first time i ever heard them... been in love ever since 😍😍
Let the kids rock and shut up to all the "experts".
Thank you so much you 've been bringing "THAT MUSIC" again in this era...!!!...,awesome🔥🔥😎
I love them. You can tell that they as a really young band we’re influenced by zeppelin in their early early years. That’s just who their influence was. Once they got comfortable as a band they were able to take their influence and make it their own as heard on their newest album. They are outstanding and such an important band now. Unreal talent
How can anyone look at these two in this video, and NOT see the incredible resemblance. Seriously, look beyond the hair. ❤️
The sexual joke and comment afterwards - he sounded like Ace Frehley 😂
I dont even listen to rock music but man i would have to say this is my favorite band .. These guys r really good especially the lead singer
Black smoke rising, Highway tune, safari song, and edge of darkness are my favorites by greta van fleet
i understand why people are calling them out for sounding a lot like Led Zep. i really think since they're just starting out and obviously have mass amounts of potential we just need to let them do their thing and grow as artists. they're SUPER young and obviously have lots of passion and i'm excited to see what they become! i personally am super excited that there is some hope for the future when it comes to music, these guys are so refreshing from everything else out there.
I agree with Jake, safari song really shows what they’ve got, and flower power shows another side as well. But all amazing songs can’t wait to buy a CD
Young band rescuing the Old Good Rock’n Roll! Great Job!👍🏻👏🏻
"Heat above" .. makes me feel absolutely Euphoric.
Citing Demis Roussos as an inspiration made me become a fan of GVF instantly! 🤘🏼 🎸
Demis Roussos...♥️ OMG, I am so impressed. Love these guys.
Beautiful smiles
0:27 I think about this a lot.
I watch this like every day
