Wouldn't it be great if Nintendo released a Fire Emblem collection on Switch with Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn?

5. Opoona (VERY underrated game)
6. Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn (formerly my favorite FE, before Three Houses came out).
7. Super Paper Mario
8. Monster Hunter Tri
9. Avatar the Last Airbender (actually decent, although it's a port and I couldn't think of more games.)
10. Pokémon Battle Revolution (hardly an RPG anymore, but eh.)
I unfortunately couldn't get my hands on Arc Rise Fantasia or any Rune Factory game yet, so if I did, my list would definitely look quite different.
Great list there FF. Defo pick up a copy of Arc Rise Fantasia when you can, such a great adventure!

Arc Rise Fantasia is my second favorite. I couldn't recommend it enough. It is all i ever wanted in a jrpg game.

I'm just here to like the video for understanding Fragile Dreams is good. It's one of my favorite games of all time.
Another solid list, TVGS! I am excited that more people will be able to enjoy Xenoblade Chronicles with the remaster coming to the Switch this year. It's such an astonishing game in scope and characterization and sits among my favorites all-time. Not many games get an audible "wow" from me, but this is on that shortlist.
Your summaries continue to be short yet in-depth, and it's again lovely to see Fragile Dreams get so much love and promotion. Sadly, I believe Arc Rise Fantasia never released in PAL territories, which is a real shame as I do like my turn based RPGs.

I only played The Last Story and Super Paper Mario out of all of those, but they're immensely enjoyable!! I hope to get to the rest of those in the future.
Nice list! I'm surprised you didn't include Opoona. It's a turn-based JRPG with a ton of charm, created by the people who made the Dragon Quest 7 remake on 3DS. Highly recommended. The OST alone is worth a playthrough just to hear the amazing music, but the story and gameplay is really good. It's also a Wii exclusive.

Great list! I liked Opoona a lot and now I'm playing Earth Seeker with english Patch. It's also a great RPG with Monster Hunter Vibes
Another fantastic list! Last Story is one of my favorite RPGs I've personally played. It's one of the few RPGs where I wished I could fight MORE lol.
Also nice to see Fragile on this list too...it's definitely not a masterpiece, but it's worth a playthrough for sure. It's story and settings are truly haunting and stick with you after you beat it.

Last Story is great and online battles was fun till servers worked, pity its too short and easy.
Xenoblade Chronicles is my favourite game of all time. Played it on the 3DS and Switch, with a Wii play through following soon!

@@nintendokolekcjoner239 I love Baroque. Definitely my biggest hidden gem of the Wii (and there are plenty). I'm currently doing an upscaled 4k playthrough on Dolphin. Wow, boy does that style look great in HD!
Pandora's tower looks mighty interesting, and the story is intriguing.
The facial animations in the last story bar cutscene shown in the video have a bit of uncanny valley.
Great vid as usual! Many games I hadn't given attention to before. Funny how after having watched this Xenoblade seems like the least interesting rpg on the system for me when it usually is fronted as the most amazing rpg on it. Gonna have to try out a lot of these. Just discovered the translation of Earth Seeker too so that's a must as well since the music and atmosphere gives a monster hunter vibe.

Xenobade chronicles is one of few games that makes proud for playing it

I would love to see “The Last Story” ported to the Switch with some quality-of-life improvements along with a port of “Xenoblade Chronicles X”!

Wiis are relatively inexpensive now and considering they double as a gamecube... good time to get one before they become a ridiculously priced retro collectors’ item.

Yo, I hate to tell you this, but the NA version of Pandora's Tower has a game breaking glitch late game that WILL come up.
Man, The Last Story was really fun. Short game but at least it has the New Game+ option

Did they release like 10 copies of Fragile Dreams in the Uk!? Was convinced it never made it here. Expect to pay nearly £100 for it now. That’s a no from me then unfortunately. Oh well, can’t own them all I suppose. Great channel btw. Keep it up brother.

I wasn’t able to get into Muramasa or Fragile Dreams. Would like to play The Last Story someday but seems it’s gone the stupidly expensive route.

Sometimes you mention remakes/ports and other times you don’t. It’d be nice if you could always mention them so that we know that we can pick it up on a current/different system.

4:22 How come that you didn't mention the special sword attacks that use souls? Especially given they are mostly unique to said sword.
7:45 Radiant Dawn was my very first Fire Emblem. (And is still my favorite.) I will highlight one of its elements that is hardly talked about albeit it deserves it.
It's Tutorials. Or rather the system's structure: If something happens that needs an explanation "series mascot" Anna will show up and take you to a special map featuring a narrated/explained autoplay section. That is pretty standard (still funny for people who know the game as Anna occasionally takes jabs at your current Commander at the time) but what is great is the way these tutorials are handed out to the player. If no tutorial is needed the game will normally progress without any interruptions sometimes for several chapters. And this balance between being useful yet not annoying is a thing that games often fail to deliver.

10:38 I miss one feature of Xenoblade Chronicles that you should have mentioned. Especially given it was cut from its sequels(most likely due to time constraints) and is extremely rare amongst all RPGs.
Equipment in the game exists beyond the menu screen.
Whilst many modern games actually change the weapons of choice they hardly go beyond that. Maybe you get costumes or visible accessories if you're lucky. In XC that's different. Any part of equipment is actually modeled and your characters will *wear* it during gameplay.
Which is amazing.
Xenoblade Chronicles X is like that as well.

While it may not exist in XC2, XCX(although a spiritual successor than a sequel) literally has that feature. It even has a fashion gear feature which adds a layer solely for how you want to look
Radiant Dawn was my first fire emblem, and still is my favourite too. I never noticed what you pointed out there, what a great bit of design!

I have path of radiance it is such a hard game.
This is kind of funny, veterans in the Fire Emblem community think that Path of Radiance is actually easy. Can't say I agree tho. Either way, it is one of the best game in the series, only behind Three Houses.

Ive played all of these, with the exception of Pandoras Tower (sadly I never knew about the game when it came out). And out of all of them, I enjoyed Arc Rise Fantasia the most.
Any jrpg fan should try this game.

I struggle to understand how you can call Dawn of the New World.... "good." That game is beyond trash; it single-highhandedly turns people away from the delightful Tales of series.
I don't agree. It's a good game on its own merits, but weighed down immensely by being a sequel to Symphonia. That were not big but impossible shoes to fill.
But I see your point.
If a game in a series is a departure from the series' standard you might not like it.
I have basically the same problem as I don't like the "Offline-MMO" approach of Xillia 2. (And what the hell did they do with the rigging of a certain little girl?)

I have strong opinions on Fragile Dreams because:
1-. It isn't even an RPG.
Yes, it has RPG elements but they're so minimal that it really doesn't deserve being called one just like lots of modern AAA games integrate those light RPG elements but they aren't called as such for that.
2-. Combat mechanics are repetitive/boring
Coming from the premise that it isn't a real RPG now we have to judge it by its real time combat mechanics and they're barebones, repetitive and boring, it's liteally pressing A three times to chain the only combo avaliable, truly a letdown.
The game has a fantastic art direction and atmosphere and the story and concept are very interesting at start but the later fall apart late on the game. It's a shame cause the world and exploring is very interesting and I think a remake would fix a lot of its problems.
it s amazing how tales of gave use good 3d roam games while others stupidly offers turn based shit waiting and pressing buttons like hell
