grape garden was always my favorite world in kirby's adventure. the game itself was always my favorite kirby game as well, despite me having started with the modern titles. the music always sounded so beautiful and pure to me. like something from an alternate universe where everything is magical and peaceful. like a fairy tale. really, the kirby series in general always had that sort of vibe to me: pure magic and wonder. themes of friendship and forgiveness. kirby has been a big part of who i am for basically as long as i can remember for these reasons. i don't think i can really convey in words how grape garden's tune always made me feel... it reminds me of when i was a very small child. it's really nice, but there's also a twinge of sadness in there. so it's a complicated, yet beautiful feeling... anyway, lately, i've been having a difficult time coping with my mortality. especially since i don't really believe in any sort of afterlife or anything. listening to this, though... not only is this a remix of one of my favorite songs, but it feels so elevated on every level. it even has lyrics. and not only does it have lyrics, it has absolutely _beautiful_ lyrics that encapsulate everything kirby is about. and _not only_ do they encapsulate everything kirby is about, it touches me on a personal level, as well - the lyrics are probably meant to be taken literally, seeing as this is kirby, but it's very easy to see it as a metaphor for death. what i'm saying is, this is probably the first thing i've seen that's made me feel this much better about it. i don't know if this feeling will last. but at least here, right now, i'm feeling more ok than i've felt in a long time. and that means something. maybe it seems silly that a remix of a song from a game like this would mean so much to me that it would make me feel at least a little better about something like death. but it just goes to show that everything means something to someone. you never know what someone's gone through to form those kinds of connections in the first place. i think it's amazing that we can create things such as this and that they can have such a profound effect on people. thank you, itoki hana. even if the feeling fades, i at least have another incredible remix of one of my favorite songs to listen to!
