I’ve been skateboarding since I was like 11, I’m 27 now, and when I was a kid I completely bought into the whole feud between skateboarders and rollerbladers, for a good long while. In the late 2000’s skateboarding, and “extreme sports” in general were sort of at a cultural peak in America so that animosity was kinda every where. Which is just fucking stupid. Plus, if you skateboard long enough after a few years you’re gonna inevitably come across a rollerblader that’s pretty cool, and you’re gonna see them come up with some of the most batshit insane ideas for tricks and things to skate that it’s gonna open your eyes to what’s actually gong on. And it’s gonna humble ya a bit. Rollerbladers are just absolutely fucking insane. Let’s be honest, it takes a spell kind of crazy to strap wheels to your feet and then try to do one of those super weird grinds down a handrail or bio-flip a ridiculous gap knowing that you either land near perfectly or just eat a metric ton of shit. They don’t get to realize in mid-air that they didn’t get enough speed and just kick a board out from under them. Nah, they get to realize they don’t have enough speed and with enough time to think to themselves, “well this fucking sucks. Man I really hope don’t lean to far back when my wheels it the ground and knock myself out.” They also don’t get decide a third of the way down a rail to jump off land on their feet and kinda run it out and not eat shit. No they get to jump of the rail and then worry about whether or not it was more worth it to just stay on the rail and see what happens or jump of the rail and almost certainly eat. That’s a special level of crazy, That I don’t possess nor am I envious of those that are on that level. Truly got respect for rollerbladers in general, though based mainly on the sheer insanity of the sport, but respect nonetheless.
iv been a rollerblader for 20+ years at the age of 35. my best mate is a bmx’r we had the most mental sessions cos he would say ‘air out 360 truespin into topsould then swith to alley oop...’ etc etc an i was there like ‘surely you can ice pick that back board 🤷🏼♂️’ 😂 fruitbooters, wood pushers, kids bike riders and even the dreded scooter kid... we all gove each other shit but at the end of the day Rwilly just goes to show that scooter kids can teach the old heads new tricks in their own sport 😎
To everyone that complains about the amount of credits... This is not just for one skater. This was just his section from the Ground Control video (The reason they have a closeup on the frames). All those credits are for the entire video at the end, and the 8 other people that had sections. Besides, there is NOTHING to complain about with skating like that.
I am a Rollerblader since 1996(currently inactive due to age and broken bones) but my respect for skateboarders and all kinds of extreme sports was always there. Because everything they do is sick!
And yours respects special skateboard respect wow that means so much too us Thankyou oh greatwise skateboarder. I can only dream of one day having the elitist respect you so freefully handout
Back in the day when we were all much much younger I must admit I wasn't an Aragon fan no reason just preferred other skaters, but man looking back now and looking at today's standards no one comes close! Just this eve I was looking at a few of his sections and just think no one came close to the style, the tricks and the fact he had park and street under his belt with style says it all. Respect!
Personally, I feel that, back in the day, Brian's style came under criticism for being 'too clean', 'too polished', 'too perfect' and for lacking the imperfections that gave the way other people skated 'character'. But revisiting these videos after over a decade, you can see that Brian's character is laid bare in his striving for perfection. To me, his style is more synonymous with what I might expect from an olympic athlete - A style meticulously crafted over tens of thousands of hours of self criticism and ambition; perfection, or at least, the closest he could come to it with the time he had.
Simon this should be on TV, the boost it'd give rolling would be HUGE let alone the inspiration it could give kids starting to strap up.. some channel somewhere would undoubtedly front $$$$ for this level of content
like i was just thinking about physics and wondered if people could grind with rollerblades. this is just amazing, you actually have to be insane to put that much trust into your blades
Just rewatched this for the first time in years (and a ton of other old skate videos) on a nostalgia rabbit hole, and its blown my mind again, peak aragon was unmatched. Really tempted to dust the boots off and get back out there at 33 years old 😅
I started skating in 1996... back then we always seemed to be just a step behind the pro's even thru the early 2000's... but I can definitely see a kid watch this and just be like "fuck it... I can't do that"... Aragon's absolutely amazing, but I also think he's part of the reason rollerblading is dead. Lol... too fkn good.
Fuck it, they got to have something to aim for...Even though this guy is kind of a arrogant punk there is no denying he's got skill. Remember what it was like watching Shima? Lol
noooo way! i look at the skateboarders nowadays and think "fuckk i couldnt do that" and then look at blading and think "i can skate pretty good, i have good balance...i think i have a shot at doing some of that" but thats only because i feel im better suited for blading...i think the kids nowadays like to follow eachother and copy to look 'cool' if no one is blading and everyone are on scooters then thats the way they will go!
Inline is dead because it's too limited, it's not so versatile and in depth like skateboarding, grinds are boring, and you get used pretty fast, so it's not challenging, you kinda hit the wall too early, after that there's the brain aragon level, but only few people have to balls to do what he does, same goes for ramp or bowl, i'm not sure if i've explained myself properly.
Brian Aragon is pretty sick. i was wondering what all the hype was about since the other vids of him done showcase his talents as well, but this video does him more justice.
Damn bro.u just move so freaking smooth I swear u were born with skates on ur feet lol u make everything look so fluent and natural love this video bro sick af
I agree .. i main rollerbladin and it's still my favourite sport . If you watch rollerblading videos so you can write some negative comments after... well , you could be one of a 10 year old Ryan Sheckler fan . That's it !
@Louis Williams i think you cant Do nothing wrong. Try roces Mj12 in a skateshop. Your foot must feel good in the skates. You will carry IT for hours. IT must be comfortable.
I love skateboarding so much but i'm addicted to the pace of blades. maybe if I could build up speed on my deck I'd be more inclined to use it more but something keeps pulling me back to blades. i feel like i'm flying on blades.
+Steven Taylor Aragon has moved on, Haffey's doing his own thing with the Nitro circus. So there is a bit of a gap in terms of current influence. But Franky Morales and Broskow are pretty much the only ones from that generation that are still pushing street skating and holding it down, but in a new way. Its more creative today, people like Scott Quinn and Mason Richard are doing well, I guess Eugen Enin is probably at forefront in terms of the younger generation.
+Niko Salaman thanks, not seen all these, I forgot his name, but there is a little French dude, he did the first double bio flip I think, tore his ACL in his knee, come back strong, dudes got mad mad skills, will check these guys out now, thanks again
+Steven Taylor John Bolino, Alex Broskow, Nils Jansons, Soichiro Kanashima, Yuto Goto, Montre Livingston and Aragon has been caught skating Valo's recently so you'll probably hear from him again soon.
1 Mio views wow! I can't watch this section without being motivated for days! rollerblading is not so big but everything for bladers and that's all! when you love what you do then fucking do it 🖤
razors cults for cheapness and then you can't rly go wrong w valo i like the v13s but the soul plate is a bit small aeons i have heard are good but not the best beginner skate since they are a flatlline setup (when there is wheels on the inner part of the frame) which makes it harder on ledges
Watched this as a kid, now 9-10 years later, still rewatch this.
Congrats to 1million views on this section. It's no wonder why bladers don't put out sections like this anymore cause Brian set the bar so damn high!
Hammer 🔨 Era!!
It’s prolly more bc no one watches this stuff even tho it’s sick.
And I would prolly say it’s a lot of view bots watching it

Underated comment imo
iv been a rollerblader for 20+ years at the age of 35.
my best mate is a bmx’r
we had the most mental sessions cos he would say ‘air out 360 truespin into topsould then swith to alley oop...’ etc etc
an i was there like ‘surely you can ice pick that back board 🤷🏼♂️’
😂
fruitbooters, wood pushers, kids bike riders and even the dreded scooter kid... we all gove each other shit but at the end of the day Rwilly just goes to show that scooter kids can teach the old heads new tricks in their own sport 😎

I am a skateboarder and my respect for rollerblading just went up 100%.
It sucks that he is a massive tool sack, and impossible to like. I'm too judgmental of this kind of attitude
fuck your respect
I am a Rollerblader since 1996(currently inactive due to age and broken bones) but my respect for skateboarders and all kinds of extreme sports was always there. Because everything they do is sick!

officially my favourite skate edit ever.
Found this video after listening to songs from JSRF and never even thought that this could be real. My new fav video
Damn man between Brian’s balance while grinding and Frankies spin in and out of grinds, by far, my two favorite skaters of all time.
V-neck game is too strong.
lol, amen! :)
I can watch this like all day
Simon this should be on TV, the boost it'd give rolling would be HUGE let alone the inspiration it could give kids starting to strap up.. some channel somewhere would undoubtedly front $$$$ for this level of content

Pure perfection and probably the highest level of skating that has been and will ever be filmed
Blading is my life and people like him just want to make me try harder and get as good as them :)
Well, are you that good yet?
Lurp Jr 😭😭😭
Michael McMillan do you still skate? Blading is having a resurgence. I hope you're still wheeling.
like i was just thinking about physics and wondered if people could grind with rollerblades. this is just amazing, you actually have to be insane to put that much trust into your blades

Dre1ofakind Install a Powerblade frame setup to enjoy both worlds.
Sure you can!
@Louis Williams i think you cant Do nothing wrong. Try roces Mj12 in a skateshop. Your foot must feel good in the skates. You will carry IT for hours. IT must be comfortable.
@Louis Williams take them. I got my pair in White too.
Of course you can turn tricks in rollerskates, just look at Boogie Nights.
You're amazing! you're my hero!
I love skateboarding so much but i'm addicted to the pace of blades. maybe if I could build up speed on my deck I'd be more inclined to use it more but something keeps pulling me back to blades. i feel like i'm flying on blades.

Who are the best skaters today? Is it still Haffey an Aragon? Or have some new young kids taken over? If so, who? So I can look them up :)

+Niko Salaman yeah, that's him, dudes insane
+Steven Taylor John Bolino, Alex Broskow, Nils Jansons, Soichiro Kanashima, Yuto Goto, Montre Livingston and Aragon has been caught skating Valo's recently so you'll probably hear from him again soon.

Amazing.
ICONS: Brian Aragon, Tony Hawk, Travis Pastrana, Dave Mirra, Candide Thovex
Is it possible to cut the cuff from your agressives and make the same tricks? Or that's impossible and I will fmslf doing that?
Drolwer it depends on how you gonna cut it. If you mean a V-cut then its okay, a lotta ppl do it to get them cuffs more "flexible"
Drolwer it's generally not a good idea. Just loosen your cuff. And yes you'd most likely do an ankle.
The Top Sole to true Savannah transfer on the orange rails ... I yelled out loud OHHH MYYY GAWWWWDDDD. lol
I was like an orangutan throwing my hands up in there "OOOOoooooohHH"
simplismente foda ! !!!
