I always thought Destoroyah was just "discharging" energy into Godizlla. Sort of like how Godzilla and Spacegodzilla did when they were slapping each other when they were in their close quarters fight.
Yeah that's why G-force wanted Destoroyah to fight Godzilla because they thought his oxygen destroyer power would stop the meltdown. And as shown it completely drained his red color, but with his internal reactor being too broken, draining his energy just made it worse.

And 1200 Celsius there is about 2200 in Fahrenheit :/

Also the fact that he has zero motive for destroying everything is even worse. But he was able to help stop Godzilla's meltdown so that's the one good thing he unintentionally did.
