Fantástico!!! un baritenor fuera de serie, Aria sumamente hermosa y difícil, las notas sobre agudas muy bien hechas con voz mixta. Su registro medio es hermoso!!! 3 octavas en esta aria. Casi imposible a tenores.
Cada tenor en su epoca, cada uno tiene su propio color de voz, su diverso repertorio, timbre diverso... cada uno brillo en su epoca, cada uno ha ganado su publico, que los ama y respeta, nada hacemos con atacar a uno para ensalzar al otro, de nada sirve. Alva, Blake, Merrit, Ford, Florez, ahora Camarena, Spyres.... son maravillosos, pero diversos, lo importante es que han dado gloria a la lirica mundial.

an exquisite aria, superbly sung. There is room in the world for Franco Corelli on the one hand, and Spyres on the other. This is certainly how this was sung at the premiere. Bravo, Michael. Divine music.
Bellisimo timbre, tenor de grazia, muy expresivo, hasta el do sostenido bellísima voz de pecho, clara, diáfana, brillante, luego la voz mixta potente y con el mismo color.... un gran tenor.
I just heard him in concert in London. One of the most impressive things about his singing is that the ornamentation and the very high notes are just part of what he's singing. No sense that he's - just - about - to - sing - a high - passage. It just flows as part of the aria. Doesn't hurt at all that his voice is also beautiful. (And before you ask, he's superb dramatically also.)
C'est le fameux air du duel de ténor que l'on retrouve (en partie seulement) dans le film Le Maître de Musique de Gérard Corbiau (1988) - l'air est interprété de façon très classique et honnête par le ténor Jérôme Pruett. Michael, lui, est absolument sublime, acrobatique, génial...
Estensione incredibile e senza sacrificare le ottave medio basse. Speriamo solo che non si rovini subito la voce. Cantando così si fa presto, vedi per es. l'altrettanto grande Merrit.
A travers cette incroyable prestation on peut imaginer l'engouement que les ténors comme Rubini, héritiers directs de l'école de chant des castrats, ont pu produire sur le public. Ici Mickael Spyres me semble utiliser un falsettone puissant assez proche de la voix mixte voire de poitrine jusqu'au Do au moins, et en tout cas parfaitement maitrisé sur le Fa, un peu moins sur le Mi b. Il se passe quelque chose avec ce chanteur de magique, car sa sincérité prend le pas sur l'artifice et nous convainc totalement. Bellini écrivait là son second opéra, son premier hors conservatoire, commande de l'opéra de Naples, et témoignait déjà de son amour pour le "bel canto". Un beau chant d'expression romantique avec son inimitable ligne mélodique d'une grande pureté, déployant sa palette de nuances empreinte de douce mélancolie. Une exigence de la part de l'interprète qui préfigurait déjà celle des oeuvres à venir. Bravo à Mickael pour son engagement et merci au maestro Bellini pour la beauté de son art !!

Yeah, I think you are probably right. Mr. Spyres began as a baritone, and has found a way to navigate between every register from full chest to reinforced head and falsetto without breaks, which is what this rep. demands. He breaks with the idea that tenor singing has to be in the position of a shout, and that a tenor must bring weight up as high as he can, to achieve a hyper masculine effect. This kind of singing inspires me as an example that a bel-canto tenor can sing with class and balance, just like other voice parts, without shouting and straining. Time to hit the practice room I guess :D
