Good video, excellent analysis. The point Tom made about the lead foot turning in is something that can be seen in Basketball take off. Great work Verky.

One underrated and crucial part that most people miss (including myself), is the arm swing. As soon as his hands take off the wall, he swings his arms up in a circular motion. Most people just leave their arms behind until they land. The arm swing seems and feels awkward and reckless, but it can add a little bit of distance to the jump. Basically, this upgrades the kong pre from a double jump to a triple jump.

The lead foot turn in is very common with two foot take offs (gather steps) in basket ball and volley ball the idea being to create a better block and to decrease ground contact time of the jump.

I grew up playing basketball, and that side step-in that you're talking about with the kong is a great blocking mechanism used to transfer forward momentum into upward momentum. If you watch athletes dunking you will see this a lot.

@@EzzeSoy yes, thats exactly what I meant. Kong pre and double kong are basically the same difficulty, some say kong pre is harder because you must bring your hips forward in the air (double kong is obviously scarier tho)

Was cool to see you callout the inward foot. I've notice on my biggest kongs I do the same and have been considering whether that's a good/bad thing. For the past 2 years I've been dealing with cartilage damage (fairly similar to Res') in my takeoff leg.

Sick video guys! Maybe an interesting topic for another video would be on the different methods of landing a cat leap/armjump. There's the hit it like a precision method and drop down vs the hit it and slide down method, I'm trying to figure it out myself still since I'm a noob lol.

I have one thing he could improve (at least on this kong-pre) Caleb, in a Rilla Hops blog post, talks about the kong tech, and he mentions the shorter the time you're in the air between you take-off and your hand-to-wall contact, the better it is (because you don't lose vertical speed at all). That's probably fucking hard to do after a sprint like that, you'd have to tuck harder, but Travis stays like 2 frames, hanging in the air
I loved it, I'm gonna watch your other breakdowns, that's awesome
