I love Mayfield and am a lifelong Bucs fan. It is obvious that Bowles needs to go. He's a nice guy, but that matters little. This is a very good team with a ton of talent and I hate to see it wasted.
Casuals want the answer to be as simple as the final score. If Baker lost, then he sucked. But if you do the work of watching the all-22, understanding the route concepts and what the QB is supposed to do, then it's easy to grade the performance and discover that Baker was great.
24:32. Total agreement with you here. Baker has it in him to be patient, make the right read and easy throw, but too often he gets spooked by pressure into doing something he shouldn't do. McMillan is open right in front of Baker's face. Take it.
I missed the rest of your analysis. It's a tough call because to get it over the defense in his face, Baker has to float the ball a bit, and then he's criticized if he floats one that gets picked or gets McMillan crushed. The sack is obviously on the right side of the OL. Baker can eat 5% of the blame for that sack for Ledyard's sake.
Thanks for the giving us the All-22 breakdown along w your takes! I had thought the offensive line seemed a bit different than prior games, but seeing this video it's clear that this was their WORST showing in pass protection all year. The amount of times that Baker had a Cowboy DLineman in his lap was too many. To me this is a byproduct of the Bucs not having Cade Otton available. Payne Durham is solid. However, he's not the offensive threat that Cade is capbale of. I've never seen a Bucs opponent blitz as much as they did. It's smart, because it negated the backs releasing out for screens, forcing them to stay in for pass protection. It even forced the Bucs to NOT have Bucky Irving in the final drives because the blitzes were nonstop. The no-huddle seemed to be the only thing that neutralized the constant blitzing. All in all, this game was STILL just 2 points removed from becoming an incredible comeback win. As you noted, a 4th down drop pass here; a sack-fumble there; Jalen McMillan (whom I think you should give him a lil grace as he's still a rookie) NOT understanding that he has to catch the ball or DEFEND the ball in 50-50 plays in the endzone. And even leaving time in the first half by calling a timeout to allow the Cowboys to kick a FG before the half ended came to bite us in the ass. This is one of those games, where the Dallas Cowboys wanted it more and IMPOSED their will. It sucks given how VITAL this game was for winning the division. Baker's performance in this game did NOT leave me feeling that he didn't do enough. This game was more about everyone playing w the intensity urgency and DISCIPLINE to finish the season strong. Before I end this rant session lol, during the SNF telecast Chris Collinsworh revealed that Baker is actually LEFT-handed?! That might explain why he throws so well right-handed despite going to his left. Anyways, thanks for sharing your expertise! Fingers crossed that the Bucs playoff chances aren't over after losing this game.
Been waiting for this video since the last snap last night. My man Joe knows ball and he puts his money where his mouth is. Excellent speed on this video Joe. Glad to see you as fired up as I was about the game last night.
At the 30 Minute Mark when the ENTIRE Dallas Defensive line is already past the Bucs Offensive Line in two seconds and Baker is running for his life is something I don't think I've ever seen. If you pause it, it looks like someone magically made them switch places, but in reality they just sucked this game.
I’m extremely excited to see what this team can become next year under certain conditions: -Coen either becomes the head coach (preferable option), or somehow remains for one final year as OC and Bowles remains head coach. -Bucs resign Godwin, manage through draft, free agency, or trade acquire a true edge rush, a CB2, a true ILB, a punter (pray Camarda found the cure for his bad yips and comes back) and a guard if at all possible. -Injury luck turns around The Bucs are generally bad on special teams and it would be nice if they went beyond being salvaged by the excellent kicker Money Mac, but honestly it won’t matter if the defense shows signs of life (just being average lol). This team could be scary if some very attainable conditions are met, at least roughly. Either way, I will still have fun watching, as it really is a pleasure to see Baker run an offense. You’re at the edge of your seat every time you see him really zip it down the field.
Bucs fans and twitter widely overrate the bucs pass blocking does Baker occasionally take sacks that were on him but a lot of the times Baker and the quick pass game makes the Oline look much better than they actually are
Now do a Cooper Rush analysis and look how easy everything was. How many times is it this season that Bowles gets worked by a bum? Cousins had two good games this year, both against Bowles, and Rush just had a career day. Unacceptable.
I think you were a bit harsh on Goedeke. Considering he was up against the functional equivalent of 2 average edge rushers and spent much of the day not getting basically any help, I thought he had like a B- performance. I'd say the amount of pressure Parsons' generated was lower than expected given how most linemen would do against him in that spot, I feel that the rest of the line didn't take enough advantage of having numbers vs the non-alien members of the Cowboys
I think that's an extremely accurate way of describing what happened, personally! It isn't that Goedeke was bad, it's just that he's not the kind of stud you trust vs a monster, & they didn't give him enough help (likely because the interior was a mess)
Good stuff. Baker played great. Not many QBs can throw the 30 to 40 yard pass as well. The problem is he often doesn't have enough time to plant for those kind of passes. In the bigger picture, the terrible pass defense was what lost this game. You can't have soft coverage and no pressure on Rush that allows over 200 yards passing in the first half. What happened to the blitz that threw Herbert off his game a week earlier?
Honestly even if we make the Playoffs its painfully obvious that ANY NFC South team will be in wayy over their heads post season.. So tired of simply competing for Divisional Banners every season and nothing more. I couldn't agree more with you about Bowles, we need to Promote Liam Coen to HC!
I'm not totally certain that Baker alerted him properly. You're totally right about Bucky being bad in pass pro, but I don't know that Baker ever saw the free rusher.
Joe you voice my feelings about this team better than I ever can and I appreciate that. Cody Mauch needs to hit the gym or just give up cause he’s been bullied on the line for 2 years now and is still somehow considered a starting guard. Barton needs to figure his shit out and learn to snap properly because this game he just seemed to forget how to. Bredeson is bad but we don’t expect him to be good. Goedeke MIGHT be a starting RT if he can just keep improving. Bowles needs to be gone because his handling of personnel has also just been fucking god awful all year, refusing to use Sean Tucker after he goes for 120+ yards in his first actual game, criminal, refusing to use Robert Hansey as a guard at all this year? Criminal. Fucking using McMillan more than Trey Palmer after Palmers rookie season? Criminal. Fire this emotionless soul sucking leach into the sun and give me a real head coach and not a statue who spews bullshit.
Literally you don’t know shit . saying Mauch needs to give up and he’s been bullied 😂 he’s been our 3rd best lineman by FAR ! he’s been bullying lineman if anything . and goedeke could be a starting Rt ? no buddy he already is an elite starting right tackle . the guy shut down parsons and shuts down every major pass rusher that test him .
@ 3rd best on a line that is below average isn’t a great compliment, Mauch had the shit beat out of him last year almost every snap, I WANT him to be good, I really do but he’s weak as shit and only looks good this year either when we do quick passes, or zone runs, since he can’t handle power this year just like last year. I also like Goedeke, he legit sucked last year and I wanted him gone but this year he’s surprised me and improved, so yeah, starting caliber RT but he still gets manhandled once in a while like this game. Better than Skulle that’s for damn sure but he is not elite like Wirfs. Do you happen to disagree about Bowles too or are you just calling me out for not fellating 2 linemen you apparently like?
I was at this game, and the stadium does a terrible job showing any replays. They gave no explanation or replay for the first McMillan drop that was initially ruled a catch. I dont recall "replay assist" overturning a catch, without a challenge, on a non-scoring play? I cant watch many games outside the Bucs, how often does that happen? McMillan not fighting more for that bomb was pathetic, Bucs beat reporters talk about how slim he is. Needs to bulk up in the off season, get closer to 200 lbs. Barton needs an off season in an NFL weight room, too. He may be hitting the rookie wall, seems like he has been wearing down of late. 81 is a practice squad WR elevated due to Godwin and Kam Johnson being on IR, so like WR7 not a backup TE. I think they missed Otton: he blocks and runs routes better than Durham. Otton hasnt missed a game in 2 1/2 years and usually plays 95% of snaps. But Bowles is the problem. I'd love to see a Cooper Rush breakdown. He had about the same yardage as Baker, but it just seemed like his average completion was wayy more open and easy than Baker's. And the Bucs D never smash people and cause incompletions like the Cowboys did tonight. Then Bowles wastes a timeout to give the Cowboys a ton of time at the end of the first half, with a lethal Kicker who can hit from 60.
I agree protection for Baker was often not good. I agree; this game was not primarily Baker's quarterbacking that lost this game. O-line was often bad ;and D was probably worse.
Im always hearing about this “Todd Bowles” defense & yet every other game teams are putting up 30+ points on us. Not to mention career nights by Jags like Kirk Cousins (now benched) & Cooper freakin Rush. Ridiculous! Get Bowles out of here!
Best analysis. Baker played his heart out. His hussle & field awareness to recover the fumble was huge. The terrible snaps ruined the timing of many offensive plays. McMillan should have easily caught the TD by using his positioning rather than "handsing" every ball. The offensive line was NOT good. Irving, like Mayfield, makes the running game better than it is by making the first 2 defenders miss on nearly every run. The bias of SJW "analysts" who beg to blame Baker for everything (because his middle name is Reagan) is becoming damned near legendary. Cade Otton's absence was more conspicuous than expected.
The problem with this team is the defense! They have been consistently bad under Bowles, no improvement from year to year! It's time to go! They must name Cohen head coach or else next year we'll have the same lousy defense & Baker & company are starting from square one again!!
Bucs had the worst run game last 2 years while the defense was holding up last 2 years… so injuries hit the Bucs defense means fire Bowles now? This is comical they have holes but you act like the Bucs offense under Dave caneles was putting up points and sustaining drives .. this is comical
@@mckickz665 no the bucs D has been at best below average including the SB year, but they did play well in the playoffs. You made my point about the offense, they were better under Canales, but they've taken off under Cohen in one year! Todd Bowles is 46-59 as a head coach, speaks for itself! This team doesn't have another two years to waste!
@ the Bucs haven’t had the $ to spend on defense they had to bargain shop I think they spend $ this offseason because they had to bargain shop last 2 years

You are totally right. That int was not even an int. His knee was down. If that is the Cheifs, no way they call int. Mayfield played well. No way in the world can the fumble by white be in anyway on Baker. He is extending the play, getting away from 2 defenders. It's just a chance to hate on him like always. Bucs fans have to root for Commanders against Pennix and ATL next week to make the playoffs. I think it can happen, but this loss sucks. I will say I don't think this game is Bowles if fault; the ATL game, Chief game, and Niner game yes; this game no.

I was like are we watching the same game baker balled the f out if it was any other qb they’d be talking about how the team let him down the baker hate is crazy
Look quit saying bowles need be fired .he does his job as coach and respected as black man with make right decisions .it's the team itself cause themselves to slip on play they suppose to stop and create problems for teams

You should watch the game instead of quoting the stats The VAST majority of Baker's time in the pocket was time HE created by extending plays Did you watch the video?
your right...the oc is overrated baker makes chicken salad out of chicken shi...play comes in receivers are running vertical to far ..online can't hold that long ..short crossing route causes confusion..bucs don't play to bakers strengths....you saw him in the 2min offense.hes a sand lot player...to much info causes a stagnant result..your rught..pat d.
McMillan having the ball taken from him
going into the end zone was a joke….
Right? When the ball crosses the plane, is that not a TD?
he still needed to show he had sole possession and completed the catch, which he didn't. baby hands.

Brother, Baker has singlehandedly avoided another 20-30 sacks this year. Baker's elusiveness in the pocket makes this line look better than it is.
There was dropped balls, fumbles, ball stripping. Nobody could hold onto the ball besides the top guys who I'm sure they were trying to rest.

Baker had 3.09 seconds on average to throw. That’s pretty good. With that said lots of mistakes by all 11 on offense.
You should watch the game instead of quoting the stats
The VAST majority of Baker's time in the pocket was time HE created by extending plays
Did you watch the video?
@ lol I did watch the video. Analysis was interesting. OL wasn’t perfect as same can be said for Baker. Overall too many mistakes by the offense.
your right...the oc is overrated baker makes chicken salad out of chicken shi...play comes in receivers are running vertical to far ..online can't hold that long
..short crossing route causes confusion..bucs don't play to bakers strengths....you saw him in the 2min offense.hes a sand lot player...to much info causes a stagnant result..your rught..pat d.
Baker blows.
You don't know ball
I'd appreciate it if you didn't comment on my videos without watching them.
@ Saw the clown play at OU, that’s all I needed to see.
