I upgraded from the quest 1 to Pico 4 a few months before the quest 3 came out. I only really use it for wireless PCVR, the only thing I purchased from their store was virtual desktop lol, but never regretted my decision.
I am testing P4 vs Q3. I wish P4 could have Q3 lenses. More FOV, more details, more brightness. But Q3 not comfortable, heave on front. Also P4 has horrible reflection from bright vs darker scene! I guess will return both and will keep P3. Unlucky there won't be PICO5 😕
I owned both of them, but I personally love the P4 more. The Q3 may have better specs, but if you are already in your comfort zone, you cannot leave that zone, as a VR user, you know what I mean. I am an Asian; the Q3 face cover doesn't suit my face shape, and there's a lot of light coming in, although I already changed the gasket and replaced the strap with the BOBOVR S3Pro, but with the P4, I don't experience this kind of thing; just put it in your head, and voila, the comfort zone is so irreplaceable. And the VR looks so premium in P4 instead of Q3. The battery placement in P4 is similar to Quest Pro; they place it in the back instead of in the front. Hopefully the meta changes the layout in Q4. I do really miss the software in Q3, so seamless.
I bought my Quest 3 with the Elite Battery strap - and even though it's a significant price increase, I think it's essential. Or a cheaper AMVR strap that adds weight at the back.
quest three is obvious winner, but pico 4 really isn't far off, the main benefit at least where i live is that there is a cheaper used market, i got my pico 4 near new condition for 220 USD, which an insane deal, but i have never seen such prices with the quest 3
You’re so right the head strap on the Quest 3 is awful. I had to order a different one after an hour using it. The itching and pressure spots and the fact that it pushes down on your face is so bad that you have to wonder why they even shipped it that way
Standalone software is the big one for me... and EVERYTHING looks barren compared to the Meta Quest family. Even Apple Vision Pro looks weak by comparison when it comes to immersive experiences.
Quick question; I can see in the comments the Pico 4 is being discontinued, however I am starting to shoot 360 video content of bands and would like to know if you would recommend the Pico 4 just for viewing this? Not for gaming.
