This video is brilliant, as an aging skater, hobbyist, not even amateur, I'm findng my heel and Achilles in my push foot is starting not to hurt, but feel really off and it's a great reminder of how impermanent health really is, I can see you in a year or two this becoming a major issue and I'm starting to think about things like balance in health. Thanks.
Hello from Spain, a beginner skater here, the biggest change in my progression was starting to skate swicht or fakie. The improvement was incredible, I feelt more stable, more reliable and confort. I think it is related to the balance of my body and your video. I do cycling and jump the rope too. Thanks for sharing man, I love your videos.Regards.
As someone who started skating at 40, exercises, food and working out are key to being able to skate for hours and have fun! I actually went to a personal trainer and asked for training sessions specific for skateboarding. She is amazing and did lots of research (she loves a challenge) and came up with heaps of exercises for strength, balance, and core. My knees don't hurt after a session no more. :)
@@markvickery5894 Lunges, squats, planks, push-ups, upper body twists, calf and ankles. All with kettlebells, pretty much anything that challenges your core to keep your body balanced.

wow Man, we really need more of that, thank You, cheers from Brazil Edit , ive included some of The exercises in my routine, and even show one of them to the Boys in the Park yesterday. Thank you
I just started skating a few months ago and your info confirmed some of my thoughts on how to approach skating in way that will allow me to skate for a long time: resistance training and skating switch.
after skating for almost 20 years and knowing im not going pro lol i ask myself all the time when skating and doing something new or sketchy..."is it worth it?" i got work tomorrow lol
Wish this video existed when I skated(1990-2000), lol I'm all F'd up now from injury when I skated including an ACL repair, broken toe, and both hairline fractured ankles.....can still switch tre flip, but I can't regular tre any more!
@jamalempfehlung9841 the ankles were on big gaps, separate times. The toe was joking around on a board slide with a ledge that was really rough. The ACL was nose sliding a 7 stair handrail at night
Welcome back! I feel you there though, it's only recently that I've started to feel comfortable pushing through the streets switch. Been focusing on it a lot this last year after about 19 years skating 😅
@@TheDailyPush For me its the balance itself. I can push but when I get my feet on the board its like my balance is backwards. Skating switch is like starting over from scratch lol
I always feel my left knee (I am goofy footed) is weaker compare to my right, thats why i often feel the pain and couldnt skate because i cant snap the tail to ollie
Yes definitely helps you build a stronger and higher pop, good for cardio too... also try make marks on the ground to try keep your feet on one position to also practice coordination with the feet... I've drawn a skateboard on the ground with chalk once just to have a space to hop inside with the rope... that worked pretty nicely!! Goodluck and keep skating!!+
I have lower back problems all the time when I skate I spend 3 to 4 hours a day 5 to 6 days a week skating a bunch of flat ground. I pretty much skate in one stance and my lower back kills me.
My right side is my dominant side but I recently pinched a nerve on my right arm from lifting and I hyperextended my right mcl from skating but bc of that I’ve been working on my imbalances and it’s been really helpful in my overall balance and motor control. 😊
I’ve done so much research i could have a degree but I can’t overcome my patellar tendonitis in both of my knees. Its ruined skateboarding for me for years now. Has anyone had success

Same here m8, starting at 40 is a challenge but if you keep your body fit, we can do it :)))
….could, could we get some of your training routine please? :)

Making this video a proper skateboard physio session!!!

Nice one thanks mate
Thank you for sharing I think a good tip on split squats would be to keep your back glute squeezed that way you can maintain proper form!

I got a pretty bad ankle sprain a few months ago and it fcked up my ankle mobility, that's how skating damaged my body 😢
Thanks for your work and content
Thanks for the helpful content
You're welcome 🙌🙌
THANK YOU!

Fantastic info thx

Physical therapist? Nah bro i got the daily push
I always get really bad lower back pain on my left side. Makes it hard to stand up or bend down. Will this even out over time once my muscles build?
Awesome Content 😍😍👌 thank you
Ive recently started again after a 5 year long break!! And switch makes me feel sooo stupid! haha lol bit I am slowly getting there!

You can skate without ollie, there are lot's of tricks without it, or even just cruising. Ollie is not St Graal.
Basically all the exercices my pysio gave me when i got injured ! Seems legit
Is jumproping good for skaters?

I don't think its switch or not, skating is the great differentiator. It just to be tough. Exercises are good.
Skateboarding has caused me to develop plantar fasciitis :(
How do you know you have that?
@@troidberg Diagnosed with it by my doctor, when you think about it, your plantar fascia is constantly being worked when skateboarding.
what are your symptoms? @@Keaguan
P Rod doesn’t have imbalances
That is because he has overcome his imbalances
..even the healthy stuff like ..., ... or SMOKING CRACK! ... xD dude...
