Hi, sorry I’m late to the party....so for rows 13-25 you are not increasing. On top of the previous shell (what they are called), NOTE: {When ending a row...Join row w slip stitch, then slip stitch to next stitch -- } you sk (skip), the first stitch, put dc1 (one-double crochet), in the next 4 sts (stitches) * (after you’ve slst(slip stitch), over to the second st when you join the row), (a stitch is whatever the previous row stitch was, here it’s a dc, you’re working into the top of that st) then do a V-stitch in the ch1 (chain), space * (*V-st is dc1, ch1, dc1....double crochet 1, chain 1, double crochet 1 in the chain 1 space), then, dc1 in the next 4 sts **(for the next shell - ie the second shell of the row and remaining shells of the row-remember you had one st left on the shell just completed) [^^^Sk next 2sts (last st of previous shell & first st of next shell); dc1 in next 4 sts; dc1, ch1, dc1 in the ch sp; dc1 in the next 4 sts. Repeat from ^^^. Join with a slst, then slst to next st.]. Repeat [ ] sequence for rows 13-25. I hope this helps and isn’t confusing. I tried to explain just in case someone was a beginner and didn’t understand the abbreviation lingo.

If I want to make it for my 5 year old grandchild, I should just measure her 1st raw to make sure it fits her on her neck. I should do chains to start that should be decided by 4. After the chain, for 1st raw skip 3 and start on 4th chain. 1 part of 4 decided by 2 -1 , double crochet I should do and then chain 2 and 1:4 portion dc and continue. Measuring my grand daughter’s chest leangth, that many row I should continue before starting the skirt. If this is size 3 then almost double the size I might have to do. Appreciate the feedback.
What should the length of the shoulder to shoulder for 1.5-2 years old? I used US Medium 4 yarn and looks like it turned out small with shoulder to should length of 8 inches.
