- Sometimes, you just want to spoil your pigs, right? And what would they like better than tasty homemade guinea pig treats?!
This recipe is the simplest of them all, using only 4 ingredients: Oxbow Critical Care, oat flakes, apple and carrot. If you don't have those handy, don't worry! We'll provide you with a lot of alternative ingredients in the video.

I made this but into a cake version and added a few bits of oats, their pellet crumbs, grated Apple and their hay crumbs. Thanks for this video I think your channel is nice and your piggies are very cuteee😍❤️🥰

What is that awesome kitchen tool you used to make the treats? I've not seen anything like it, and I'm wondering how I have been baking without it!! 😆
It's a pretty handy tool isn't it! 😊It is a cookie cutter with a handle lid press. (sorry we are not sure of the technical term for this 😅).
I have a senior pig who is struggling to maintain his weight so I reckon if I used this recipe and made them smaller, he can have them instead of oxbow oat porridge!
So sorry to hear of your piggie! Sometimes by offering a bit of variation such as this treat into their diet can help stimulate their appetite!
Can this be rolled out thinner and cut into squares? Please also add °F to your instructions for us people across the pond. My piggies Oreo and Chip love Oxbow Simple Rewards heart shaped cookies which are not cheap but I’m willing to try your recipe. I have Critical Care left over from a previous piggie who passed away from an inoperable bladder stone. 🥰🐹🐹🎃 more recipes please!
They could be rolled out into thinner squares, however, please note that the string may not hold in the hole as it is thinner 💖

These treats are good for up to one day, when left in the cage. However, you can store these treats in the fridge for up to 3 days.
These sound delicious also are there any pellets that you recommend the one my pigs have right now are twitch nuggets and I think that these aren't very healthy

Our treats haven't been tested with a dehydrator, we would recommend cooking in an oven ❤️

Can I give my guinea pig rolled oats? Also, I've never given her oats as I've been told it's not good for guineas.
For the oats can you use porridge oats please i need to know because its my guinea pigs birthday/home day on the 12th of Feb ❤
Poridge oats can be used, however only in small amounts as they should only be fed as treats ever so often ❤️
Are these suitable for bunnies as well?
They probably are at least most the time but bunnies can probably eat this aslwell

Thank you for your comment as it is a great question! This recipe is safe for guinea pigs and is often used for piggies who require additional recovery support. The short baking time is only necessary to help the treat keep its shape. This will not affect the safety of the treat. Treats should only be given occasionally as raw vegetables are more beneficial to their diet. Cooked vegetables become an issue when they are given in place of daily veg, or have additives to the dish (spices etc).

Hi I want to make these but I've read that oats aren't safe for guinea pigs or will it be fine if you feed it in moderation.
Rolled oats are safe when used in a treat such as this recipe, fed in infrequent small quantities 👍
