Today we are working on Donna’s yard. Her daughter reached out to us recently to share her story and the situation she was in which called for our help. Donna purchased her first home and quickly realized it had some major problems that needed to be fixed. One of those problems was that the entire yard needed help. Unfortunately, she had a heart attack on top of working third shift that has stopped her from being able to handle this job alone which is where we come in. Today we will be helping Donna get her yard back into shape so in can be maintained and on top of that we have a huge surprise for Donna. Those children are so amazing, they're a total joy to watch. Notice how they realized the metal post would last longer than the wood post. When dad was leveling the mailbox , they were paying strict attention to dad and his level. Always willing to learn new things. Not only are they all hard workers, they realize the satisfaction in helping those less fortunate. Watching this beautiful family work together puts a smile on my face . It certainly was appreciated by the lovely homeowner.

I agree. I grew up on a tobacco farm. When I worked in the corporate office of a large pharmaceutical company, so many people complained about “hard work”. I thought it was the best job anyone could have. Heat in the winter, A/C in the hot, humid summer, paid vacation, paid holidays, paid personal days, paid sick days, great insurance, and a 40 hour work week. You don’t get any benefits when you work “blue collar” jobs and you don’t have set hours. Cleaning up lawns is extremely physical work. I am thankful we have people with the integrity to do this work. Where would we be if no one wanted to work picking up garbage.

It was clear that they had been trying to get on top of this, but then had issues. I think the best part of this blessing is knowing that with the help you were able to provide, they will likely be able to keep it up. Some of your blessings are for the neighbors and the hope that it will help someone else be able to take over. This one was directly for the homeowner to give her the ability to keep up.

There's no greater feeling than doing something nice for someone you expect nothing in return.
Surely with the sons helping , people can give the sons something . Just my thought . In appreciation for all the hard work done on people’s yard , I notice no one offers a drink of water or anything just go into their homes and shut the door , . Yes one lady offered the lawn guy a sandwich . Very considerate of her. Some people take service for granted but it is the appreciation that counts for many of us. who are fortunate to get that overwhelming help needed . Bless you all who offer of their time and that of their family.
I have also been noticing for quite a time that nobody ever seems to offer some water or fruit juice to them .. doing this hard work when it gets hotter must be difficult without being properly hydrated..! What's wrong with the people in N. Carolina..? Do they expect others to work for free (for them) and never offer a glass of water or a cookie..to the kid at least..??? I hope I'm wrong about these people as Americans..!!

Question, why do you leave stumpy branches, why not cut them flush to the stem, I know some times you can't reach it properly, but when you can, you leave them branch stems. Most times those branches will shoot more growth & cause issues again, if not cut properly back to stem. Love the videos, & yes I was in landscaping, I love how you teach your boys value in working.

Teaching the boys to go "Above and Beyond" is SO important in todays world ( there is very little of that around these days ) . . . the gift of the mailbox, as she said, was almost as nice as the lawn work. if you haven't seen it already, your family needs to sit down and watch my favorite Highway To Heaven episode, called: "WALLY" . . . it's on TH-cam a few different ways - you have to watch the FULL episode, that is at least 45 minutes long, though. The boys should really get something from it, they are already doing some of the same type of things Wally does for others in the story. ( make sure to notice who wrote and directed the episode, too - which is shown on the screen in the opening credits )
