Since this video dropped I have some things to say, there were 2 whole arcs by the time i'm typing this. Which means that they're rushing out arcs for no reason and their writing is getting sloppy, i'll briefly discuss my opinions about it because i'll probably make a video when the next arc finishes (prob about the scary tv) It's Not Perfect arc: it's definitely not perfect lol, it's bad with character moments that don't make sense at all with the final movie being bad up until like the last 10 minuets of the vid when it starts to get good. One Show Wren arc: VERY mediocre, it's balancing over if it's bad or tipping on mediocrity, same issues happen some characters say and do stuff that isn't in their character. All but the last episode is bad, unfunny and mediocre at best, the last episode while actually pretty solid, is extremely dark in tone. Which is hasn't earned at all because the rest of the arc is light hearted with like 1% being mysterious. It also once again shows that they can only write Meggy atp and puts her at the front of the line when she already has her own movie and arc, One shot wren is not bad as a 1 time villan but i assume were seeing him again, if he doesn't then oh well. But like i said as like a random episode it's actually good for the tone it's trying to pull off despite some little nitpicks here and there. yea

@WillPlay77 many things really it was rushed in some parts. The arc was focusing on two story's at the same time the splatfest story and the anime story at the same time. Really many things were not explained well or moments were rushed in the arc if you watch many reviews of the anime arc they will talk about the same thing on why the arc was bad though people say the main reason was meggy turning human and desti dying that made the arc bad. Though in my opinion though they are right on my things on the anime arc it is still my favorite arc of smg4
I'll have my opinion on those you didn't rank. It's gotta be perfect: This arc had REALLY slow buildup but the payoff was good. It's the first time we see Mr. Puzzles and the ending was sweet. 7/10 Western Spaghetti: I'd rather not call it an arc.. since it really isn't, but since it's considered one, that would mean it's really rushed. It had 2 episodes of buildup and the movie didnt leave much of an impact to meggy, her character development VANISHED. It is my favourite arc though, so the good parts are the darker directions this movie took. Once again, Mr. Puzzles is indirectly responsible for this. This movie genuinely made me almost cry. I'll take off a point because the 2 episodes weren't good but the movie just straight up redeemed this arc as a whole. 9.5/10 WOTFI 2023: I didn't think much of it. It's a lighthearted little game for the people voting. It is pretty unique and it doesn't HAVE to have a dark tone or character development. 6/10, enjoyable. Puzzlevision: It was truly perfect, every single episode had little bits of hinting that they aren't themselves. Seeing Mr. Puzzles show up in Marios Mysteries (the 2nd or 3rd part of the arc i forgor) was soo awesome since he was responsible for every arc I have mentioned. 9/10 One point off for the first 3 episodes being kinda useless. We get it, they're being controlled. They were funny though.
As someone who sees the Anime Arc as meh, you hit the nail on the head for me. While I'm in the camp of people who think Desti's death would be more impactful (for the audience) if she was a main character and made more appearances before this arc, Desti's death was still impactful. I never understand why people don't like Meggy being upset over Desti dying because "she knew Desti as a jerk," and to that, I say, "if you were in Meggy's position, you would be traumatized too." In addition, Meggy's character arc after this arc was great. You made me reconsider how I viewed Meggy's Destiny, even though I think Sunset Paradise did better at completing Meggy's character arc.

You know what I'm not a fan of? The relationship between Axol and Melony. Axol was already an adult when 1 of the masks that the Majora's Masks Masks sellsman touched her when she was still a water melon which is how she transformed into Melony. On top of that she acts and behaves like a child ontill stuff becomes super serious and is even given a child like voice. I know that Axol and Melony are fictional, but that doesn't prevent me from finding the relationship really weird. Also when it comes to the animai arc, I really thought Peach was gonna be the final boss of that arc. I thought that after our heroes were able to convince her to lift the ban on animai, that she grew such an osession with it to the point that she authorized the mass-kidnapping of all of the inklings and Axol in order to saticefy her adiction, which is why I never gave Francis any mind.
Melony as a CHARCTER is decent ig because it’s not the way that she acts, I can see why you pretty freaked out but I’m pretty sure that every one in the main cast besides Mario, peach, and everyone in the main games is around upper teens 16-21. Melony acts like that because she wasn’t really a character because the mask just made her (basically birthing her) so it’s understandable why she acts like a baby most of the time, but then slowly starts to mature throughout arcs. I also thought that peach was the final boss, which is why Francis is a solid twist villain.
I knew the Anime Arc is the BEST SMG4 arc! I thought I was the only one thinking about it because people hate the parts with Desti's death & Meggy changing to human.
Currently the most resent arc is about a maniac who is obsessed with making the perfect 5-star TV show and enslaves the main SMG4 cast in order to do it
In the 10 year anniversary, it’s pretty much specified that since SMG0 is a “virus”, he can hurt avatars like Mario, so your argument about there being no stakes in the Genesis Arc because Mario can survive anything is kinda invalid.
Oh well here’s my list 7 Revelations Arc: just wasn’t utilized Nearly as much as Genesis, not a bad arc by any means and I absolutely loved the Movie but one of them had to be last 6 The Lawsuit Arc: still an enjoyable arc but I don’t know, there’s something about it 5 Rapper Bob Arc: Just a fun time about Bob somehow becoming an even bigger asshole 4 Waluigi Arc: has an engaging story while still feeling like SMG4. Their first arc was a very solid one 3 TH-cam Arc: Idk I just like this one 2 Anime Arc: going from simple shenanigans about dealing anime like drugs to a full scale cataclysmic war, absolutely peak 1 Genesis Arc: origins about the SMGs, a movie, a WOTFI and a new antagonist who’s a real threat, easy #1 (Btw The Television Saga isn’t really an “arc” in the typical sense but that’s my number 1 in terms of SMG4 storylines in general)

Melony and her “protect my friends” anime trope is the most asinine thing SMG4 ever did and was when it officially died. Anime tropes are the most repetitive and cringe things ever and should NEVER be including in a dark comedy series that started out just fine as a parody with characters that have personalities that are original and funny.
1. The Genesis Arc (perfect arc, SMG4 & SMG3's character development hit peak at this point, the 10 year anniversary was a masterpiece & the WOTFI is just unbelievably great) 2. The Waluigi Arc (great arc, Tari's debut is great but the WOTFI is a masterpiece and the way SMG4 take the Waluigi not in smash thing to a whole story is just perfect) 3. The Anime Arc (funny ass arc, Desti's death was so unnecessary, i feel like this arc focuses more on Meggy then anime, Axol's debut was great, the fight between Saiko's gang and Desti's gang in The Splatfest Incident was amazing, Meggy's character writing was at it's best in this arc) 4. The TH-cam Arc (the first arc i watched since i became a fan in 2020, good arc, i like the SMG3 villain thing) 5. The Rapper Bob Arc (its starting to get downhill from here, i mean this arc is mid, Bob was a total asshole but i mean makes sense since this arc focuses on Bob being famous and like betrayed his friends, also Saiko's song is great as a rock fan myself) 6. The Lawsuit Arc (THEY DID A 6-EPISODE BUILDUP AND IT LED UP TO AN ASIAN AHH REDESIGN) 7. The Revelations Arc (fuck this arc, probably my main problem abt this arc ARE THE FUCKING GIRLS, i swear Saiko & Meggy being annoying hit peak level at this point, also its so stupid to reveal Niles as a fucking villain, Niles is a annoying ass character, besides that, the girls did Mario dirty everytime, anyway this arc is a piece of junk)
This one’s gonna be long. 1. The Waluigi Arc (2018) 8/10 (SMG4’s first and best Arc. It’s simple and based on meme which in turn, makes it work very well within the world of SMG4. Wotfi also fits surprisingly well in this arc. Waluigi is tired of being rejected from Smash, so he wants to make his own Smash instead, he brainwashes everyone and puts SMG4 and Mario against each other in a series of challenges. The challenges are pretty fun and the ending battle with Waluigi controlling Mario and Tari controlling SMG4 was pretty cool, although I felt like the rap battle was a downgrade from the previous year.) 2. The Rapper Bob Arc (2018) 6.5/10 (I do actually enjoy this arc but it’s a big downgrade from the previous arc. The big problem is that Bob is a lot more sympathetic than I think Luke and Kevin wanted. Most of the cast treats him like shit and then when he makes the diss track against them they’re so offended by it even though most of them had done far worse to him, except for Tari and Boopkins, but that’s because they’re just nice in general. I can’t blame Bob for getting pissed at Boopkins because he’s the reason why his concert failed. Bob even gave Boopkins the chance of viewing him from the crowd but Boopkins still didn’t care and tried to push his way through. Bob lost all his fame and is homeless again, because the cast felt like that was the appropriate punishment for someone who’s only wrongdoing was lightly manipulating and humiliating them, even though again, most have done worse. He tries to make amends with them but they don’t accept it. It isn’t until Waluigi gives him a near death experience that Bob finally comes to the conclusion that his “friends” are the most important thing to him. So, in the end, Bob gives up everything he had, his fame, his fortune, all for people who never really cared about him that much in the first place. It’s a dumb ending with a terrible message, and it kinda ruins the last two episodes, but there’s still a lot in the arc that is pretty enjoyable to watch.) 3. The Anime Arc (2019) 5.5/10 (Oh boy, this arc is pretty controversial and for good reasons, but I think that the first half of this arc is actually pretty fun. It’s a dumb premise, anime being banned, but the premise can make for some pretty funny scenarios and jokes. I especially really like the inclusion of Swagmaster and all the dumb shit that he does and how he reacts to things, like when he sang Baby Shark while on patrol. This arc introduces us to Axol and he isn’t a great character. Like Tari, Axol’s existence doesn’t ruin any episodes, but It doesn’t make them better either. The “ending” with “Mario Saves Anime” feels so damn rushed, it’s obvious Luke and Kevin wanted to get to the second half so badly, sadly though, it’s even worse. The Splatfest/second half of the arc is pretty bad. It tries so hard to have this “deep” story and takes itself way too seriously. There are so many “emotional” moments placed throughout this arc and I’m gonna get it out of the way, but they do not work whatsoever. It feels like Luke and Kevin thought having characters cry are enough to make us feel emotional, but you need good writing if you want an emotional moment, which this arc painfully lacks. So instead of crying or feeling whatever they wanted out of me, I either laugh or cringe because of how bad the attempt was. Desti’s death is an awful attempt of having a permanent death, after not seeing her since “If Mario Was In… Splatoon 2”, which was her debut, she’s still the same asshole and steals Meggy’s weapons so she can’t train and lose the Splatfest, Desti then proceeds to nearly kill Meggy and her friends for trying to get their weapons back, so why the hell would anyone care about her death? Now obviously, it’d probably be traumatizing to see someone get killed in front of you like that, but from an audiences perspective, what are we supposed to feel? Because not one part of me was saddened by her death. I was more confused, what purpose does Desti’s death have? Obviously, it was for Meggy’s “character growth”, but it still makes zero sense. Meggy only met Desti once before the Anime Arc, then all throughout the Anime Arc Desti was constantly being an ass to Meggy and her friends. When Desti got captured, she and Meggy only spent what was like a few hours together, there’s no reason for Meggy to be this upset out her death that she, “doesn’t know what to do.” as she puts it. It’s made to be such a huge deal when no one liked her in the first place. None of this even mentions the fact this completely goes against the rules of the world of SMG4. SMG4 was just dumb cartoonish, comedy videos that you never had to take seriously, nothing was ever permanent, and many characters had constantly died and come back, so to have Desti’s death be permanent completely goes against the inconsistency and absurdity that the series was known for, not to mention that earlier we saw Mario use a grenade to launch himself and Desti died from a stab. In the end do think there’s still enough good to just barley outweigh the bad, but Jesus Christ, the second half is awful.) 4. The TH-cam Arc (2020) 2/10 (It It doesn’t matter how bad the second half of the Anime Arc was, because the TH-cam Arc is almost all bad and barely anything good. This arc is genuinely terrible. The pacing is very bad. It takes so goddamn long to get to the main plot, and most of the videos are just set-ups for said plot, they have very little entertainment value and are just boring to watch. When we do get to the main plot, not much happens. There’s barely any progression, it feels more like a series of events happening rather than an actual developing story. It doesn’t have huge stakes like the Waluigi Arc and it’s not as dark like the Anime Arc, it’s just dull. Except for The Anime Arc, all other SMG4 arcs had filler, this Arc is no exception. The problem here is that they’re just borderline unfunny. At least I was able to enjoy the filler episodes from The Waluigi Arc and The Bob Arc, but these videos are unwatchable. The worst one, though, is “SMG4: Stupid Mario Arcade” the TH-cam remote is for TH-cam, as it says in its name, so why the hell does it transport Mario into video games? In fact, the rules of the remote are incredibly inconsistent which we’ll see later. The only enjoyable episodes of this Arc are Mario’s Spicy Day and Wotfi 2020. The inclusion of Wotfi in this arc isn’t done well like with in the Waluigi Arc, the remote magically comes alive? And it takes over Jub Jub and then makes SMG4 and his crew and SMG3 and his crew complete challenges to see who’s worthy for the remote? It feels so shoehorned in, like it was a last minute decision and they didn’t think it through. The Anti Cast has already been talked about many times, they’re not good characters. They’re just there to be an alternate to SMG4’s crew. Rob’s entire personality is corn. JubJub is Boopkin’s brother. Weegee Doll is Weegee Doll. Melony is just a watermelon with Meggy’s headgear. I’ve got nothing to say about Whimpu. I don’t have anything to say about Anti Shroomy, cause I don’t remember his debut episode. And, Belle is just more promotion for Meta Runner, like Tari. They’re all boring as hell. Things get worse during the last few episodes. In “SMG4: Deleted.” The cast get deleted. And this what I mean by the rules of the TH-cam remote make no sense. It seems like SMG3 and his crew are changing the videos to where the Original cast didn’t appear, but in some instances, we do see them, like with Fishy Boopkins, although a black hole is created because of future Fishy Boopkins. Tari also appears, even if Belle stopped Mario from meeting her, how does that banish her from existence? She was still in the video. The worst video of the Arc might just be “SMG4: A Totally Normal S̷͍͖͉̙͚͎̑̃̿͑̆̇̚͠M̸͇͇̦̮̌̿Ğ̴̫̗̖͎͔̳4̶̞͇̰̎̀́̚ Episode” because it completely undoes everything that “SMG4: Deleted.” did, and in the worst way possible. All of a sudden, SMG3 no longer knows how to use the TH-cam remote, he tries to zap Mario with the remote? When he can just do what he did before and pause him, and the way Mario escapes being paused is because Susan still has enough power left to get him out, there’s just so many coincidences and ways out of situations. Mario is somehow able outrun the Oof Buttons, and he only gets caught because SMG3 handed the remote over to Weegee Doll to spam it, and it’s presented as SMG3 outsmarting Mario even though he could’ve done that all himself. Mario is able to take the remote from SMG3 even though WEEGEE DOLL FUCKING HAD IT, and everyone is able to get home, and all of this happened because the Anti Cast didn’t care to help because SMG3 started treating them like shit out of nowhere. My mind is genuinely blown by how unbelievably poorly written this entire arc was.)
thx for sharing, but i have some things that i think got misunderstood. Bob didn't make the diss track because he was treated like crap, he was treated bad because he treated the cast arguably worse. When he yelled at boopkins he reveals that all of the charitable stuff he did for him and his friends was for money, in the episode Saiko and Bob were brainstorming on how to get bigger. So Bob thought of trashing his friends for views, he is very wrong in this arc. Yes boopkins ruined his concert and they kinda bombed his house, but him manipulating his best friend and the entire cast for fame is obv wrong. Boopkins made a mistake and he went to apologize to Bob for ruining his concert, he then went to trash him, his friends, and manipulate him into thinking that his rap career is ruined because of his messed up concert. The reason the crew made a disstrack back was to show that all you had is numbers and that he's very lonely without them, and to diss them is rlly stupid. And that's exactly what happened, after the diss he lost everything and he had no where to turn to. They did care about him despite them both being horrible like the entire cast is, but they acknowledge that he was their friend and what he did was wrong. The anime arc review you gave is kind of more your personal opinion rather then getting stuff wrong, I think axol is fine in this arc he gets better later but he's alright. he added a new personality that balanced out the cast well. Idk how Mario Saves Anime was rushed. It took 2 episodes to actually break in the palace and the reason it went so well was because they had a plan that they surprisingly executed well. Personally the splatfest part is the best written part in any arc, i didn't cry because lmao im not crying over that but I think it's written well in which people feel invested in the cast. Despite of how good the walaugi arc is it's more of a fun arc then making you care about the characters, that's not a bad thing for that arc but it's respectable when luke and kevin tried a more serious tone. All the characters are written nicley with some emotional moments that made some fans legitmely cry in reaction videos, that's insane for smg4 back then. I think you misunderstood how desti character arc played out, desti was a dick from the start by stealing her weapons and trying to hide it to win Splatfest. And for some reason you just skipped over the middle chunk of her character arc, after Meggy is kidnapped we see the reason why desti does what she does. She doesn't hate Meggy and she actually respects her, she just wants a rival that can go back and forth with her in the splatfest tournament, she goes far lengths to get her. She teams up with her friends who she hates, gets into a fight with some of her friends because they disagree of where meggy got taken. I even point out in the video when Desti gets kidnapped she tells Axol the reason why she wants to be Meggys rivial so bad is that she sees the determination Meggy has in order to become champion and believes that she will become one, it also gives her a challenge that also pushes her too and she respects that. And vise versa with Meggy's reasoning to like her in the end. And with her being more open and friendly to the crew and showing meggys she's willing to do all of this just for her yeah it makes perfect sense that all of them are shook that she died, specially sense shes the first character to die in an arc so it ads great shock value. Of course Meggy is shook the hardest not only is her biggest rival that she kinda connected with at the end, but she was dealing with her guilt that the crew did all of this for her, and desti died so that she can win a championship for both of them. That's why Meggy cares, and that's why the crew cared, she had impact. Also Meggy and Desti clearly had history before mario met them they wouldn't be rival just like this if they didn't have history before, basically Desti changed into showing that she cares for her rival. And her death being weird in the smg4 universe is kinda understandable that goes for every arc but if it helps ppl with toon force in cartoons die permanently before it retconned later (the only example i can think of rn is tom and jerry) But yeah that's reaching and ig if it takes away the seriousness i understand. i would glaze the movie that meggy had but i alr did that in the vid and yes pop off on the yt arc it sucks i love how you missed on 3 other arcs because their that forgettable lmao
@@fmbloo Yes, know that Bob’s motivation for the diss track was because he wanted more views and had nothing to do with what his “friends” did to him. Bob is an asshole, there’s no doubt about that, but so is everyone else in SMG4 to a degree, they’ve all done terrible shit to each other, the most Bob has done was be annoying, scam people, or give up his friends when it benefits him, Mario had done similar things like risking his friends lives just for a bit of spaghetti. Bob’s diss track is far more tamer than the other stuff he’s done to his so-called friends, they didn’t drop him for the other stuff he’s done, but the diss track was the thing that went to far for them? It’s just so stupid, and like I said, the final episode has a terrible message, your friends and family are the kost important thing to you, which would be fine, but almost nobody in the cast even liked Bob except for Boopkins, there’s been many episodes of them mistreating him and even Wotfi challenges relating to that. A lot of the ideas here weren’t executed very well. Yeah, no, the Anime arc has terrible writing all over it, you cannot convince me that this actually good storytelling. In fact, I no idea how someone can watch this and genuinely take it seriously. When you have all this build up in a story your conclusion needs to be worth the build up, in this case“Mario Saves Anime” was not, it’s an incredibly anticlimactic end to what started this entire Arc. The ending should feel like this triumphant moment, or maybe I’m the idiot for thinking that because of the past 6 episodes showing how out of control the Mushroom Kingdom had gotten and how it had effected a few lives. SMG4 and his friends get back from Japan and illegally enter the Mushroom Kingdom while also revealing that they have a plan to get anime unbanned, yet nobody from the A.S.S thought to be on high alert and be prepared for the forthcoming events? Axol opposes the idea of violence because it’s what got anime banned in the first place, yet there entire plan revolves around forcefully getting into the castle by beating up A.S.S members and using a goddamn bomb, and throughout all of this, nobody else is alerted about the break in attempt and zero backup comes in. Then to unban Anime, Boopkins sings a crappy song and Acol draws anime char so the Peach learns to like anime. It’s just so sloppy and like I said, incredibly anticlimactic. I did originally go over Desti and “The Anime Arc” in great detail, but it was way too long so I had to cut it down. Desti reveals that she never wanted Meggy to go missing but just wanted to beat her in the Splatfest, I mean, sure, but she stole all of Meggy’s weapons which would has given her the upper hand, so that doesn’t make much sense. In a moment in “The Inkling Disappearances”. Desti coldly calls all the Inklings “Pathetic wimps.” because of hiding due to the abductions, which shows more of how much of a dick she truly is, because fearing for your life is somehow cowardly and not at all normal behavior. Also, I don’t really play Splatoon except for a couple of times during the pandemic, but I don’t think Splatfest works the way this Arc is portraying it. Anyway, thank for pointing out the moment between Desti and Axol, because it’s awful and another showcase of bad writing. Desti gives a pep talk to Axol about not giving up, and she claims that Meggy gets to be her rival because she always gets up when she outs her down. It makes me laugh every time, because Desti barely even knows Meggy and the moment is treated as this uplifting speech that leads to hope of them breaking out. Desti does bond a bit with Saiko, which in nice I guess, and she does somewhat bond with Meggy in Anime Island, but non of that is enough to make the audience care about her, and that’s important. If you want people to care about a character dying, then give them a reason to make them care about her; it’s not that hard and it seems like Luke and Kevin realized that, but the relationship between Meggy and Desti never developed fully. Like I said, it would make sense for Meggy to be traumatized, but for this to affect her to the point of making her miserable and being the main plot for her own movie, is beyond stupid and already sets up this character growth for failure. The crew have an even less reason to care for Desti, for all they know, she was an asshole, the only person besides Meggy that she tried to make up with before her death was Saiko. The during the funeral scene, Swagmaster, Chris, Bowser, and Shroomy are present, why the hell would they care to show up? Is it to pay respects to her? They don’t even fucking know her. Your last point is all speculation, you can’t base an argument around that because then everyone would have arguments to defend underdeveloped stories and plotholes. I did watch the Meggy movie once during its premiere, I don’t remember anything about it, and I don’t care because I’m already through with all of this. I missed the other arcs because I stopped watching SMG4 back in late 2020, so everything since then, I have not seen.
@@CarrCarr2421 what made Bob's diss personal is how boopkins reacted to it, boopkins is treated as the wholesome guy in the group who you wouldn't mess with because he's rlly nice and even bob didn't annoy him as much as he did the rest of the crew. They considered each other best friends, so when boopkins came home one day extremely upset the entire episode was devoted to help him get better because the crew looks back for each other. Also because Bob dissing the rest of the crew unprovoked was a bit more personal, ik the crw and bob annoy each other but just to go out and diss his only friends and manipulate his best friend, like i said it's not that out of place for them to get upset (also forgot to mention Saiko also wanted to start a music carrer with bobs success so that's half the reason why they went the diss track route). Also Bob was friends with the crew, Bob wouldnt invite the ENTIRE crew in his new house if they weren't friends. Bob wouldn't have lived in peach's castle for a while if they weren't friends, bob wouldn't show up to bowsers castle and hang out if they weren't friends, and he wouldn't help mario on several occasions if they weren't friends, he wouldn't go out of his way to make Meggy, Tari, boopkins happy if they weren't friends, etc. He was part of the crew which is why he changed into the main cast instead of a gag character like he previous was. He isn't that close the entire crew because he annoys them a lot but he's still apart of it none of the less. Also while he was in the friend group (he wouldn't be fully into it until the anime arc imo) they also did it for Boopkins so he can cheer up, as nice as boopkins is the fact that he's friends with Bob is insane. the anime arc, comparing good writing from any decent media is obv gonna put this arc down it's smg4. But it was the best writing in any SMG4 arc, realistically it's like 5 max 6 out of 10 but it's still pretty decent considering it's smg4. The Mario Saves Anime isn't still rushed, the anime ban only mattered to a certain part of the mushroom kingdom. And idk why you expected a heavy cl;imatic battle for the episode they built it up well, they needed to convince Peaach to unlift the ban because she was part of the crew, so they go to japan and find a manga artist to help them. They meet up with the other half of the crew and get meggys weapons back, in return they collab with swag, chris, and the Francis who they hate but are forced to join if they want anime unbanned. Also Axol wanted to solve this problem without violence, but 1: the only violence caused was from Francis's men who actually killed people, Meggy sniped soldiers with a splatter g*n with is non lethal, and the bomb was to trap potential soldiers guarding Peach. NOT kill them, don't act like the bomb actually killed people, the "back up" was outside which was why saiko and the others were out their to stall them while the other half of the crew snuck around. IT wasn't an easy job there was A LOT of soldiers, the only reason why it went so smooth was because they actually stuck to the plan and that entire crew used their skills to get to peach, because that was the point. The point was to CONVINCE peach to unban anime so with that song was supposed to be a joke and a way to convince Peach. I've watched reactions videos and they all found funny but you thinking it's unfunny is fine but it's not anticlimactic. The anime part of the arc wasn't this huge thing like you present it to be, that's why it was the 1st half of the arc. With desti, when desti stole her weapons she knew that Meggy would get it back, because Desti said that every time she knocks meggy down she always comes back up. It would make no sense in her character to steal the weapons for the entire time, when Desti calls the inklings pathetic wimps is a dick move because it is. She's still a dick rn her character development hasn't start yet. When Desti gives Axol a pep talk about how Meggy always gets back up, she had enough time to come to that conclusion. In her first appearance she makes fun her and tries to steal Mario onto her team, she then gets into a stand off where they're equally matched before Mario leaves. Another example is when she stole her guns and threatens to disqualify her, she then fights to get her gun back, with all of that she shows that she is determined to win splatfest (it's kinda like how luffy always says he'll be king of pirates constantly) it gets some respect out of her. (not to mention that Meggy is taking be tortured by getting the blood sucked out of her for a while so that's another example). That gives meggy Desti's respect and gives her enough to say that. Her saying the speech to axol was also a way to inspire him to not quit and it worked for a little bit before she got put on a newspaper. Not only that she does spend time with Meggy before her death and i'lll admit that we should've seen more of her and megy but there was a scene showing they're playful rivalness and shows that meggy is growing respect for Desti, because even though that they were rvials she did all of this to save her. Which is a another point you missed, it makes a lot of sense that MEggy would be depersed after Meggy's death. Not only for the fact that she was changed to human and lost her inkling power, survivals guilt is a real life thing that causes people depression. Meggy felt that when her rivial died for her to win splatfest when Meggys feels like she didn't deserve it, all she wanted was her friends to live, she wanted to axol to kill her in order to charge Axol's pen ot stop Francis and Goku because she much rather die for her friends then vise versa. The crew cared about her and she cared for them, in the scene with saiko she says herself that she cares for all of them and even jokes about it with Meggy the next episode, they all got closer before desti's death. The crew had no other thoughts about Desti besides mario because they never met her until the locker room scene, " for all they know, she was an asshole" no they don't? Saiko and Desti fought over suspicion that Axol was behind Meggy's disappearance, not because she was being a dick but it was a genuine suspicion with convincing evidence that even had Mario, Tari, and luigi (2 of them are the more logical of the group) on her side. They would have no reason to hate her because they never had a bad time with her. Another reason is the goal was to save meggy, that's it. Desti was a huge factor to saving meggy and she died for it, just like in actual war. So no shit that the crew and sawg respected her death, there's a reason it's called paying your "respects". Swagmaster, Chris, Bowser, and Shroomy pay respects because she died trying to save their friend, the fact you have a problem with that is bizzare And the audience part, the audience cared about Desti so much that Luke and Kevin were spammed for days to bring desti back, there's video online of people almost crying and saluting to her in her funeral scene. Is it too much imo, yes, but don't say people cared you can go on the episode where desti dies or her funeral and you'll find many people upset and caring over her death. Since you didn't watch anything after the youtube arc heres another thing, there was a new arc where MEggy was being maniuplated by a villain that i forgot the name of, in this the villan was taunting Meggy byt bringing back Axol (who died in a later arc) and desti. When Desti showed up the chat went ballsitic matter fact I bet the comments are tlaking about how much they miss Desti just by her being in the episode for less than a minute. A lot of people clearly cared.

I absolutely despise the Revelations "arc." The build up to the movie was so sudden and out of pocket that it was just forced, by the time it came out Meggy was used so much seeing her as a main focus again was annoying. and Niles, oh boy. The Revelations arc completely ruins the Genesis arc and Zer0 as a whole. In Genesis, Zer0 was portrayed as an SMG who lost his universe and wanted to bring peace and became corrupt in his ways. A villain you could hate, but also understand. Now, *Niles* is just this selfish bitch who wanted everything to be perfect for his friend. WHAT. Also, I feel like Axol was underutilized here. Before being possessed, we saw Zer0 trying to get a body to use for his plan, and when he got Axol I saw it as them both merging. I didn't expect Axol to come back to life, but considering we got a sneak peak at SMG0's appearance through the body combination of Axol, I feel like he should've played a bigger role into defeating Zer0 than just saying hi to Melony and telling her he'll wait for her. Also I despise the Lawsuit arc. Its just a rehash of the TH-cam arc but worse.
Arc ranking for me: 7:Revelations: This arc was very pointless. All it does it milks Melonys Character, the Finale is great but it feels like a waste of time. It should just end with the Genesis, the sacrifce was meaningless, and I dont even want to talk about Niles I hate that bastard so much. 6:Lawsuit:This arc was boring, weak, and predictable. Another WOTFI Ending does not help. 5:Rapper Bob: While this is the most lighthearted arc, all it just does is Improves Bobs character. The Arc wasnt as bad as the other 2, but its kinda boring. 4:Anime Arc: This is were we get into the good arcs. This arc is a 2 in one. The first Arc was about the anime ban. This first 7 had nothing special, the last 4 episodes are great. Desti had a bland personality, Axol was great and was a creative addition to the crew. The last 5 episodes were it gets dark. Meggy gets kidnapped and gains a lot development. This arc was not as aburpt as the Genesis but my only downside was the emotion, as it could have been handled better. 3:TH-cam Arc:I dont get why so many people hate this arc, this arc was pretty good. SMG3 was peak villian. I honeslty sided him. He was fantastic Villian. Such a shame Post revelations ruined him. He was very clever, and part of the reason why the TH-cam arc was so enjoyable. But the anti cast was garbage, they just mirrored personalities to the main cast. They didnt even get karma for the deeds in "Deleted". The youtube remote was a creative plot device. 2:Genesis: Anime arc, but cranked to an 11. The lore was really interesting, it was taking good elements from episodes and slapping it to the lore. The only reason why it isnt 1 is because it had the WORST WOTFI by Far IMO. It felt so unsettling, and very controversial. The atmisohere was so good, but was ruined by the emotions 1:Waluigi Arc: Literally the definition of enjoyable. Waluigi was scary, and really good. It did a great job introducing a new and now among my favorites Tari. She was a hero here. Wario was great here. While the arc only really happened for 3 episodes, it is easily the best. It's fine except for a couple of issues. 1: Desti was a bland until she was forced to side with mario and his friends, her personality clashing with people like mario and saiko made her a better character and understand meggys values a lot more. and after meggy releases that she did all for this to try to save her they were friendly rivals instead of genuine rivals. She even bonede with meggy and her friends until she died for her and then messed up meggy so much it gave athe best character arc in smg4 history. While it would've been nice to see 1 or 2 more scenes with her and meggy she's still anything but bland. 2: smg4 a decent villain but what could've made it better was if smg4 and smg3 had more scenes together, both characters are important to the plot and motivations and they rlly wasted fleshing out smg3s character, And also smg4 was rlly a dick to him for no reason and out of character. Since this video dropped I have some things to say, there were 2 whole arcs by the time i'm typing this. Which means that they're rushing out arcs for no reason and their writing is getting sloppy, i'll briefly discuss my opinions about it because i'll probably make a video when the next arc finishes (prob about the scary tv)
It's Not Perfect arc: it's definitely not perfect lol, it's bad with character moments that don't make sense at all with the final movie being bad up until like the last 10 minuets of the vid when it starts to get good.
One Show Wren arc: VERY mediocre, it's balancing over if it's bad or tipping on mediocrity, same issues happen some characters say and do stuff that isn't in their character. All but the last episode is bad, unfunny and mediocre at best, the last episode while actually pretty solid, is extremely dark in tone. Which is hasn't earned at all because the rest of the arc is light hearted with like 1% being mysterious. It also once again shows that they can only write Meggy atp and puts her at the front of the line when she already has her own movie and arc, One shot wren is not bad as a 1 time villan but i assume were seeing him again, if he doesn't then oh well. But like i said as like a random episode it's actually good for the tone it's trying to pull off despite some little nitpicks here and there.

@WillPlay77 many things really it was rushed in some parts. The arc was focusing on two story's at the same time the splatfest story and the anime story at the same time. Really many things were not explained well or moments were rushed in the arc if you watch many reviews of the anime arc they will talk about the same thing on why the arc was bad though people say the main reason was meggy turning human and desti dying that made the arc bad.
Though in my opinion though they are right on my things on the anime arc it is still my favorite arc of smg4

It's gotta be perfect: This arc had REALLY slow buildup but the payoff was good. It's the first time we see Mr. Puzzles and the ending was sweet. 7/10
Western Spaghetti: I'd rather not call it an arc.. since it really isn't, but since it's considered one, that would mean it's really rushed. It had 2 episodes of buildup and the movie didnt leave much of an impact to meggy, her character development VANISHED. It is my favourite arc though, so the good parts are the darker directions this movie took. Once again, Mr. Puzzles is indirectly responsible for this. This movie genuinely made me almost cry. I'll take off a point because the 2 episodes weren't good but the movie just straight up redeemed this arc as a whole. 9.5/10
WOTFI 2023: I didn't think much of it. It's a lighthearted little game for the people voting. It is pretty unique and it doesn't HAVE to have a dark tone or character development. 6/10, enjoyable.
Puzzlevision: It was truly perfect, every single episode had little bits of hinting that they aren't themselves. Seeing Mr. Puzzles show up in Marios Mysteries (the 2nd or 3rd part of the arc i forgor) was soo awesome since he was responsible for every arc I have mentioned. 9/10

As someone who sees the Anime Arc as meh, you hit the nail on the head for me. While I'm in the camp of people who think Desti's death would be more impactful (for the audience) if she was a main character and made more appearances before this arc, Desti's death was still impactful. I never understand why people don't like Meggy being upset over Desti dying because "she knew Desti as a jerk," and to that, I say, "if you were in Meggy's position, you would be traumatized too." In addition, Meggy's character arc after this arc was great. You made me reconsider how I viewed Meggy's Destiny, even though I think Sunset Paradise did better at completing Meggy's character arc.
Honestly I feel like she was the main character for that arc and she appeared in splatoon 2(before the anime arc)

You know what I'm not a fan of? The relationship between Axol and Melony. Axol was already an adult when 1 of the masks that the Majora's Masks Masks sellsman touched her when she was still a water melon which is how she transformed into Melony. On top of that she acts and behaves like a child ontill stuff becomes super serious and is even given a child like voice. I know that Axol and Melony are fictional, but that doesn't prevent me from finding the relationship really weird.
Also when it comes to the animai arc, I really thought Peach was gonna be the final boss of that arc. I thought that after our heroes were able to convince her to lift the ban on animai, that she grew such an osession with it to the point that she authorized the mass-kidnapping of all of the inklings and Axol in order to saticefy her adiction, which is why I never gave Francis any mind.
Melony as a CHARCTER is decent ig because it’s not the way that she acts, I can see why you pretty freaked out but I’m pretty sure that every one in the main cast besides Mario, peach, and everyone in the main games is around upper teens 16-21. Melony acts like that because she wasn’t really a character because the mask just made her (basically birthing her) so it’s understandable why she acts like a baby most of the time, but then slowly starts to mature throughout arcs.
I also thought that peach was the final boss, which is why Francis is a solid twist villain.
I knew the Anime Arc is the BEST SMG4 arc! I thought I was the only one thinking about it because people hate the parts with Desti's death & Meggy changing to human.

1. The Genesis Arc (perfect arc, SMG4 & SMG3's character development hit peak at this point, the 10 year anniversary was a masterpiece & the WOTFI is just unbelievably great)
2. The Waluigi Arc (great arc, Tari's debut is great but the WOTFI is a masterpiece and the way SMG4 take the Waluigi not in smash thing to a whole story is just perfect)
3. The Anime Arc (funny ass arc, Desti's death was so unnecessary, i feel like this arc focuses more on Meggy then anime, Axol's debut was great, the fight between Saiko's gang and Desti's gang in The Splatfest Incident was amazing, Meggy's character writing was at it's best in this arc)

This one’s gonna be long.
1. The Waluigi Arc (2018) 8/10 (SMG4’s first and best Arc. It’s simple and based on meme which in turn, makes it work very well within the world of SMG4. Wotfi also fits surprisingly well in this arc. Waluigi is tired of being rejected from Smash, so he wants to make his own Smash instead, he brainwashes everyone and puts SMG4 and Mario against each other in a series of challenges. The challenges are pretty fun and the ending battle with Waluigi controlling Mario and Tari controlling SMG4 was pretty cool, although I felt like the rap battle was a downgrade from the previous year.)
2. The Rapper Bob Arc (2018) 6.5/10 (I do actually enjoy this arc but it’s a big downgrade from the previous arc. The big problem is that Bob is a lot more sympathetic than I think Luke and Kevin wanted. Most of the cast treats him like shit and then when he makes the diss track against them they’re so offended by it even though most of them had done far worse to him, except for Tari and Boopkins, but that’s because they’re just nice in general. I can’t blame Bob for getting pissed at Boopkins because he’s the reason why his concert failed. Bob even gave Boopkins the chance of viewing him from the crowd but Boopkins still didn’t care and tried to push his way through.
Bob lost all his fame and is homeless again, because the cast felt like that was the appropriate punishment for someone who’s only wrongdoing was lightly manipulating and humiliating them, even though again, most have done worse. He tries to make amends with them but they don’t accept it. It isn’t until Waluigi gives him a near death experience that Bob finally comes to the conclusion that his “friends” are the most important thing to him.
So, in the end, Bob gives up everything he had, his fame, his fortune, all for people who never really cared about him that much in the first place. It’s a dumb ending with a terrible message, and it kinda ruins the last two episodes, but there’s still a lot in the arc that is pretty enjoyable to watch.)
3. The Anime Arc (2019) 5.5/10 (Oh boy, this arc is pretty controversial and for good reasons, but I think that the first half of this arc is actually pretty fun. It’s a dumb premise, anime being banned, but the premise can make for some pretty funny scenarios and jokes. I especially really like the inclusion of Swagmaster and all the dumb shit that he does and how he reacts to things, like when he sang Baby Shark while on patrol. This arc introduces us to Axol and he isn’t a great character. Like Tari, Axol’s existence doesn’t ruin any episodes, but It doesn’t make them better either. The “ending” with “Mario Saves Anime” feels so damn rushed, it’s obvious Luke and Kevin wanted to get to the second half so badly, sadly though, it’s even worse.
The Splatfest/second half of the arc is pretty bad. It tries so hard to have this “deep” story and takes itself way too seriously. There are so many “emotional” moments placed throughout this arc and I’m gonna get it out of the way, but they do not work whatsoever. It feels like Luke and Kevin thought having characters cry are enough to make us feel emotional, but you need good writing if you want an emotional moment, which this arc painfully lacks. So instead of crying or feeling whatever they wanted out of me, I either laugh or cringe because of how bad the attempt was.
Desti’s death is an awful attempt of having a permanent death, after not seeing her since “If Mario Was In… Splatoon 2”, which was her debut, she’s still the same asshole and steals Meggy’s weapons so she can’t train and lose the Splatfest, Desti then proceeds to nearly kill Meggy and her friends for trying to get their weapons back, so why the hell would anyone care about her death? Now obviously, it’d probably be traumatizing to see someone get killed in front of you like that, but from an audiences perspective, what are we supposed to feel? Because not one part of me was saddened by her death. I was more confused, what purpose does Desti’s death have? Obviously, it was for Meggy’s “character growth”, but it still makes zero sense. Meggy only met Desti once before the Anime Arc, then all throughout the Anime Arc Desti was constantly being an ass to Meggy and her friends. When Desti got captured, she and Meggy only spent what was like a few hours together, there’s no reason for Meggy to be this upset out her death that she, “doesn’t know what to do.” as she puts it. It’s made to be such a huge deal when no one liked her in the first place.
None of this even mentions the fact this completely goes against the rules of the world of SMG4. SMG4 was just dumb cartoonish, comedy videos that you never had to take seriously, nothing was ever permanent, and many characters had constantly died and come back, so to have Desti’s death be permanent completely goes against the inconsistency and absurdity that the series was known for, not to mention that earlier we saw Mario use a grenade to launch himself and Desti died from a stab.
In the end do think there’s still enough good to just barley outweigh the bad, but Jesus Christ, the second half is awful.)
4. The TH-cam Arc (2020) 2/10 (It It doesn’t matter how bad the second half of the Anime Arc was, because the TH-cam Arc is almost all bad and barely anything good.
This arc is genuinely terrible. The pacing is very bad. It takes so goddamn long to get to the main plot, and most of the videos are just set-ups for said plot, they have very little entertainment value and are just boring to watch. When we do get to the main plot, not much happens. There’s barely any progression, it feels more like a series of events happening rather than an actual developing story. It doesn’t have huge stakes like the Waluigi Arc and it’s not as dark like the Anime Arc, it’s just dull.
Except for The Anime Arc, all other SMG4 arcs had filler, this Arc is no exception. The problem here is that they’re just borderline unfunny. At least I was able to enjoy the filler episodes from The Waluigi Arc and The Bob Arc, but these videos are unwatchable. The worst one, though, is “SMG4: Stupid Mario Arcade” the TH-cam remote is for TH-cam, as it says in its name, so why the hell does it transport Mario into video games? In fact, the rules of the remote are incredibly inconsistent which we’ll see later. The only enjoyable episodes of this Arc are Mario’s Spicy Day and Wotfi 2020. The inclusion of Wotfi in this arc isn’t done well like with in the Waluigi Arc, the remote magically comes alive? And it takes over Jub Jub and then makes SMG4 and his crew and SMG3 and his crew complete challenges to see who’s worthy for the remote? It feels so shoehorned in, like it was a last minute decision and they didn’t think it through.
The Anti Cast has already been talked about many times, they’re not good characters. They’re just there to be an alternate to SMG4’s crew. Rob’s entire personality is corn. JubJub is Boopkin’s brother. Weegee Doll is Weegee Doll. Melony is just a watermelon with Meggy’s headgear. I’ve got nothing to say about Whimpu. I don’t have anything to say about Anti Shroomy, cause I don’t remember his debut episode. And, Belle is just more promotion for Meta Runner, like Tari. They’re all boring as hell.
Things get worse during the last few episodes. In “SMG4: Deleted.” The cast get deleted. And this what I mean by the rules of the TH-cam remote make no sense. It seems like SMG3 and his crew are changing the videos to where the Original cast didn’t appear, but in some instances, we do see them, like with Fishy Boopkins, although a black hole is created because of future Fishy Boopkins. Tari also appears, even if Belle stopped Mario from meeting her, how does that banish her from existence? She was still in the video. The worst video of the Arc might just be “SMG4: A Totally Normal S̷͍͖͉̙͚͎̑̃̿͑̆̇̚͠M̸͇͇̦̮̌̿Ğ̴̫̗̖͎͔̳4̶̞͇̰̎̀́̚ Episode” because it completely undoes everything that “SMG4: Deleted.” did, and in the worst way possible. All of a sudden, SMG3 no longer knows how to use the TH-cam remote, he tries to zap Mario with the remote? When he can just do what he did before and pause him, and the way Mario escapes being paused is because Susan still has enough power left to get him out, there’s just so many coincidences and ways out of situations. Mario is somehow able outrun the Oof Buttons, and he only gets caught because SMG3 handed the remote over to Weegee Doll to spam it, and it’s presented as SMG3 outsmarting Mario even though he could’ve done that all himself. Mario is able to take the remote from SMG3 even though WEEGEE DOLL FUCKING HAD IT, and everyone is able to get home, and all of this happened because the Anti Cast didn’t care to help because SMG3 started treating them like shit out of nowhere.
My mind is genuinely blown by how unbelievably poorly written this entire arc was.)
thx for sharing, but i have some things that i think got misunderstood.
Bob didn't make the diss track because he was treated like crap, he was treated bad because he treated the cast arguably worse. When he yelled at boopkins he reveals that all of the charitable stuff he did for him and his friends was for money, in the episode Saiko and Bob were brainstorming on how to get bigger. So Bob thought of trashing his friends for views, he is very wrong in this arc. Yes boopkins ruined his concert and they kinda bombed his house, but him manipulating his best friend and the entire cast for fame is obv wrong. Boopkins made a mistake and he went to apologize to Bob for ruining his concert, he then went to trash him, his friends, and manipulate him into thinking that his rap career is ruined because of his messed up concert.
The reason the crew made a disstrack back was to show that all you had is numbers and that he's very lonely without them, and to diss them is rlly stupid. And that's exactly what happened, after the diss he lost everything and he had no where to turn to. They did care about him despite them both being horrible like the entire cast is, but they acknowledge that he was their friend and what he did was wrong.
The anime arc review you gave is kind of more your personal opinion rather then getting stuff wrong, I think axol is fine in this arc he gets better later but he's alright. he added a new personality that balanced out the cast well. Idk how Mario Saves Anime was rushed. It took 2 episodes to actually break in the palace and the reason it went so well was because they had a plan that they surprisingly executed well. Personally the splatfest part is the best written part in any arc, i didn't cry because lmao im not crying over that but I think it's written well in which people feel invested in the cast. Despite of how good the walaugi arc is it's more of a fun arc then making you care about the characters, that's not a bad thing for that arc but it's respectable when luke and kevin tried a more serious tone. All the characters are written nicley with some emotional moments that made some fans legitmely cry in reaction videos, that's insane for smg4 back then.
I think you misunderstood how desti character arc played out, desti was a dick from the start by stealing her weapons and trying to hide it to win Splatfest. And for some reason you just skipped over the middle chunk of her character arc, after Meggy is kidnapped we see the reason why desti does what she does. She doesn't hate Meggy and she actually respects her, she just wants a rival that can go back and forth with her in the splatfest tournament, she goes far lengths to get her. She teams up with her friends who she hates, gets into a fight with some of her friends because they disagree of where meggy got taken. I even point out in the video when Desti gets kidnapped she tells Axol the reason why she wants to be Meggys rivial so bad is that she sees the determination Meggy has in order to become champion and believes that she will become one, it also gives her a challenge that also pushes her too and she respects that. And vise versa with Meggy's reasoning to like her in the end. And with her being more open and friendly to the crew and showing meggys she's willing to do all of this just for her yeah it makes perfect sense that all of them are shook that she died, specially sense shes the first character to die in an arc so it ads great shock value. Of course Meggy is shook the hardest not only is her biggest rival that she kinda connected with at the end, but she was dealing with her guilt that the crew did all of this for her, and desti died so that she can win a championship for both of them. That's why Meggy cares, and that's why the crew cared, she had impact.
Also Meggy and Desti clearly had history before mario met them they wouldn't be rival just like this if they didn't have history before, basically Desti changed into showing that she cares for her rival. And her death being weird in the smg4 universe is kinda understandable that goes for every arc but if it helps ppl with toon force in cartoons die permanently before it retconned later (the only example i can think of rn is tom and jerry) But yeah that's reaching and ig if it takes away the seriousness i understand.

Bob is an asshole, there’s no doubt about that, but so is everyone else in SMG4 to a degree, they’ve all done terrible shit to each other, the most Bob has done was be annoying, scam people, or give up his friends when it benefits him, Mario had done similar things like risking his friends lives just for a bit of spaghetti. Bob’s diss track is far more tamer than the other stuff he’s done to his so-called friends, they didn’t drop him for the other stuff he’s done, but the diss track was the thing that went to far for them? It’s just so stupid, and like I said, the final episode has a terrible message, your friends and family are the kost important thing to you, which would be fine, but almost nobody in the cast even liked Bob except for Boopkins, there’s been many episodes of them mistreating him and even Wotfi challenges relating to that. A lot of the ideas here weren’t executed very well.
Yeah, no, the Anime arc has terrible writing all over it, you cannot convince me that this actually good storytelling. In fact, I no idea how someone can watch this and genuinely take it seriously. When you have all this build up in a story your conclusion needs to be worth the build up, in this case“Mario Saves Anime” was not, it’s an incredibly anticlimactic end to what started this entire Arc. The ending should feel like this triumphant moment, or maybe I’m the idiot for thinking that because of the past 6 episodes showing how out of control the Mushroom Kingdom had gotten and how it had effected a few lives.
SMG4 and his friends get back from Japan and illegally enter the Mushroom Kingdom while also revealing that they have a plan to get anime unbanned, yet nobody from the A.S.S thought to be on high alert and be prepared for the forthcoming events? Axol opposes the idea of violence because it’s what got anime banned in the first place, yet there entire plan revolves around forcefully getting into the castle by beating up A.S.S members and using a goddamn bomb, and throughout all of this, nobody else is alerted about the break in attempt and zero backup comes in. Then to unban Anime, Boopkins sings a crappy song and Acol draws anime char so the Peach learns to like anime. It’s just so sloppy and like I said, incredibly anticlimactic.
I did originally go over Desti and “The Anime Arc” in great detail, but it was way too long so I had to cut it down. Desti reveals that she never wanted Meggy to go missing but just wanted to beat her in the Splatfest, I mean, sure, but she stole all of Meggy’s weapons which would has given her the upper hand, so that doesn’t make much sense. In a moment in “The Inkling Disappearances”. Desti coldly calls all the Inklings “Pathetic wimps.” because of hiding due to the abductions, which shows more of how much of a dick she truly is, because fearing for your life is somehow cowardly and not at all normal behavior. Also, I don’t really play Splatoon except for a couple of times during the pandemic, but I don’t think Splatfest works the way this Arc is portraying it. Anyway, thank for pointing out the moment between Desti and Axol, because it’s awful and another showcase of bad writing. Desti gives a pep talk to Axol about not giving up, and she claims that Meggy gets to be her rival because she always gets up when she outs her down. It makes me laugh every time, because Desti barely even knows Meggy and the moment is treated as this uplifting speech that leads to hope of them breaking out. Desti does bond a bit with Saiko, which in nice I guess, and she does somewhat bond with Meggy in Anime Island, but non of that is enough to make the audience care about her, and that’s important. If you want people to care about a character dying, then give them a reason to make them care about her; it’s not that hard and it seems like Luke and Kevin realized that, but the relationship between Meggy and Desti never developed fully. Like I said, it would make sense for Meggy to be traumatized, but for this to affect her to the point of making her miserable and being the main plot for her own movie, is beyond stupid and already sets up this character growth for failure. The crew have an even less reason to care for Desti, for all they know, she was an asshole, the only person besides Meggy that she tried to make up with before her death was Saiko. The during the funeral scene, Swagmaster, Chris, Bowser, and Shroomy are present, why the hell would they care to show up? Is it to pay respects to her? They don’t even fucking know her.
Your last point is all speculation, you can’t base an argument around that because then everyone would have arguments to defend underdeveloped stories and plotholes.
I did watch the Meggy movie once during its premiere, I don’t remember anything about it, and I don’t care because I’m already through with all of this.
I missed the other arcs because I stopped watching SMG4 back in late 2020, so everything since then, I have not seen.

They considered each other best friends, so when boopkins came home one day extremely upset the entire episode was devoted to help him get better because the crew looks back for each other. Also because Bob dissing the rest of the crew unprovoked was a bit more personal, ik the crw and bob annoy each other but just to go out and diss his only friends and manipulate his best friend, like i said it's not that out of place for them to get upset (also forgot to mention Saiko also wanted to start a music carrer with bobs success so that's half the reason why they went the diss track route). Also Bob was friends with the crew, Bob wouldnt invite the ENTIRE crew in his new house if they weren't friends. Bob wouldn't have lived in peach's castle for a while if they weren't friends, bob wouldn't show up to bowsers castle and hang out if they weren't friends, and he wouldn't help mario on several occasions if they weren't friends, he wouldn't go out of his way to make Meggy, Tari, boopkins happy if they weren't friends, etc. He was part of the crew which is why he changed into the main cast instead of a gag character like he previous was. He isn't that close the entire crew because he annoys them a lot but he's still apart of it none of the less. Also while he was in the friend group (he wouldn't be fully into it until the anime arc imo) they also did it for Boopkins so he can cheer up, as nice as boopkins is the fact that he's friends with Bob is insane.
the anime arc, comparing good writing from any decent media is obv gonna put this arc down it's smg4. But it was the best writing in any SMG4 arc, realistically it's like 5 max 6 out of 10 but it's still pretty decent considering it's smg4. The Mario Saves Anime isn't still rushed, the anime ban only mattered to a certain part of the mushroom kingdom. And idk why you expected a heavy cl;imatic battle for the episode they built it up well, they needed to convince Peaach to unlift the ban because she was part of the crew, so they go to japan and find a manga artist to help them. They meet up with the other half of the crew and get meggys weapons back, in return they collab with swag, chris, and the Francis who they hate but are forced to join if they want anime unbanned. Also Axol wanted to solve this problem without violence, but 1: the only violence caused was from Francis's men who actually killed people, Meggy sniped soldiers with a splatter g*n with is non lethal, and the bomb was to trap potential soldiers guarding Peach. NOT kill them, don't act like the bomb actually killed people, the "back up" was outside which was why saiko and the others were out their to stall them while the other half of the crew snuck around. IT wasn't an easy job there was A LOT of soldiers, the only reason why it went so smooth was because they actually stuck to the plan and that entire crew used their skills to get to peach, because that was the point. The point was to CONVINCE peach to unban anime so with that song was supposed to be a joke and a way to convince Peach. I've watched reactions videos and they all found funny but you thinking it's unfunny is fine but it's not anticlimactic. The anime part of the arc wasn't this huge thing like you present it to be, that's why it was the 1st half of the arc.
With desti, when desti stole her weapons she knew that Meggy would get it back, because Desti said that every time she knocks meggy down she always comes back up. It would make no sense in her character to steal the weapons for the entire time, when Desti calls the inklings pathetic wimps is a dick move because it is. She's still a dick rn her character development hasn't start yet. When Desti gives Axol a pep talk about how Meggy always gets back up, she had enough time to come to that conclusion. In her first appearance she makes fun her and tries to steal Mario onto her team, she then gets into a stand off where they're equally matched before Mario leaves. Another example is when she stole her guns and threatens to disqualify her, she then fights to get her gun back, with all of that she shows that she is determined to win splatfest (it's kinda like how luffy always says he'll be king of pirates constantly) it gets some respect out of her. (not to mention that Meggy is taking be tortured by getting the blood sucked out of her for a while so that's another example). That gives meggy Desti's respect and gives her enough to say that. Her saying the speech to axol was also a way to inspire him to not quit and it worked for a little bit before she got put on a newspaper. Not only that she does spend time with Meggy before her death and i'lll admit that we should've seen more of her and megy but there was a scene showing they're playful rivalness and shows that meggy is growing respect for Desti, because even though that they were rvials she did all of this to save her. Which is a another point you missed, it makes a lot of sense that MEggy would be depersed after Meggy's death. Not only for the fact that she was changed to human and lost her inkling power, survivals guilt is a real life thing that causes people depression. Meggy felt that when her rivial died for her to win splatfest when Meggys feels like she didn't deserve it, all she wanted was her friends to live, she wanted to axol to kill her in order to charge Axol's pen ot stop Francis and Goku because she much rather die for her friends then vise versa.
The crew cared about her and she cared for them, in the scene with saiko she says herself that she cares for all of them and even jokes about it with Meggy the next episode, they all got closer before desti's death. The crew had no other thoughts about Desti besides mario because they never met her until the locker room scene, " for all they know, she was an asshole" no they don't? Saiko and Desti fought over suspicion that Axol was behind Meggy's disappearance, not because she was being a dick but it was a genuine suspicion with convincing evidence that even had Mario, Tari, and luigi (2 of them are the more logical of the group) on her side. They would have no reason to hate her because they never had a bad time with her. Another reason is the goal was to save meggy, that's it. Desti was a huge factor to saving meggy and she died for it, just like in actual war. So no shit that the crew and sawg respected her death, there's a reason it's called paying your "respects". Swagmaster, Chris, Bowser, and Shroomy pay respects because she died trying to save their friend, the fact you have a problem with that is bizzare
And the audience part, the audience cared about Desti so much that Luke and Kevin were spammed for days to bring desti back, there's video online of people almost crying and saluting to her in her funeral scene. Is it too much imo, yes, but don't say people cared you can go on the episode where desti dies or her funeral and you'll find many people upset and caring over her death. Since you didn't watch anything after the youtube arc heres another thing, there was a new arc where MEggy was being maniuplated by a villain that i forgot the name of, in this the villan was taunting Meggy byt bringing back Axol (who died in a later arc) and desti. When Desti showed up the chat went ballsitic matter fact I bet the comments are tlaking about how much they miss Desti just by her being in the episode for less than a minute. A lot of people clearly cared.

1: The plot isn’t all over the place, the challenge going into a worldwide ban is a series of unfortunate events that happens in plot, the splatoon event was setup before the anime arc started and in the background of the first half of this arc so it built up naturally. And if you noticed every arc in SMG4 has a villain so it’s not out of the ordinary to see a villain in this arc.
2: there’s little to no filler, every episodes just extends the main point of the ep longer just like every tv show does.

I absolutely despise the Revelations "arc." The build up to the movie was so sudden and out of pocket that it was just forced, by the time it came out Meggy was used so much seeing her as a main focus again was annoying. and Niles, oh boy. The Revelations arc completely ruins the Genesis arc and Zer0 as a whole. In Genesis, Zer0 was portrayed as an SMG who lost his universe and wanted to bring peace and became corrupt in his ways. A villain you could hate, but also understand. Now, *Niles* is just this selfish bitch who wanted everything to be perfect for his friend. WHAT. Also, I feel like Axol was underutilized here. Before being possessed, we saw Zer0 trying to get a body to use for his plan, and when he got Axol I saw it as them both merging. I didn't expect Axol to come back to life, but considering we got a sneak peak at SMG0's appearance through the body combination of Axol, I feel like he should've played a bigger role into defeating Zer0 than just saying hi to Melony and telling her he'll wait for her.
Also I despise the Lawsuit arc. Its just a rehash of the TH-cam arc but worse.

7:Revelations: This arc was very pointless. All it does it milks Melonys Character, the Finale is great but it feels like a waste of time. It should just end with the Genesis, the sacrifce was meaningless, and I dont even want to talk about Niles I hate that bastard so much.
6:Lawsuit:This arc was boring, weak, and predictable. Another WOTFI Ending does not help.
5:Rapper Bob: While this is the most lighthearted arc, all it just does is Improves Bobs character. The Arc wasnt as bad as the other 2, but its kinda boring.
4:Anime Arc: This is were we get into the good arcs. This arc is a 2 in one. The first Arc was about the anime ban. This first 7 had nothing special, the last 4 episodes are great. Desti had a bland personality, Axol was great and was a creative addition to the crew. The last 5 episodes were it gets dark. Meggy gets kidnapped and gains a lot development. This arc was not as aburpt as the Genesis but my only downside was the emotion, as it could have been handled better.
3:TH-cam Arc:I dont get why so many people hate this arc, this arc was pretty good. SMG3 was peak villian. I honeslty sided him. He was fantastic Villian. Such a shame Post revelations ruined him. He was very clever, and part of the reason why the TH-cam arc was so enjoyable. But the anti cast was garbage, they just mirrored personalities to the main cast. They didnt even get karma for the deeds in "Deleted". The youtube remote was a creative plot device.
2:Genesis: Anime arc, but cranked to an 11. The lore was really interesting, it was taking good elements from episodes and slapping it to the lore. The only reason why it isnt 1 is because it had the WORST WOTFI by Far IMO. It felt so unsettling, and very controversial. The atmisohere was so good, but was ruined by the emotions
1:Waluigi Arc: Literally the definition of enjoyable. Waluigi was scary, and really good. It did a great job introducing a new and now among my favorites Tari. She was a hero here. Wario was great here. While the arc only really happened for 3 episodes, it is easily the best. It takes elements from other episodes making it so fun to watch

It's fine except for a couple of issues.
1: Desti was a bland until she was forced to side with mario and his friends, her personality clashing with people like mario and saiko made her a better character and understand meggys values a lot more. and after meggy releases that she did all for this to try to save her they were friendly rivals instead of genuine rivals. She even bonede with meggy and her friends until she died for her and then messed up meggy so much it gave athe best character arc in smg4 history. While it would've been nice to see 1 or 2 more scenes with her and meggy she's still anything but bland.
2: smg4 a decent villain but what could've made it better was if smg4 and smg3 had more scenes together, both characters are important to the plot and motivations and they rlly wasted fleshing out smg3s character, And also smg4 was rlly a dick to him for no reason and out of character. Everything else in that arc was trash.

the first one I still really dont like desti prior to the "Splatfest Incident" mainly because she was a jerk to meggy and just acts like she is superior to her, she did get better but I still find her bland mainly because she acts like of she is better then everyone and is just a copy of modern Meggys character.

SMG4 was being a total jerk and gets rewarded. This is why I sided SMG3. I agree most of the youtube arc sucked, but SMG3 was amazing here and was the best arc villian IMO and part of the reason this arc is 3rd.
