  • Formed in Chicago around the Beatles-era by Hotspot promoter/deejay Carl Bonafede who also managed The Buckinghams (KIND OF A DRAG). The DOE were together for 3 years and put out a few singles which got a lot of airplay for the mere fact that this was the first all-girl band that actually played instruments and sang

@@littledebs58 You need to talk to some record people and get them to put out a CD (and vinyl too) of your 60s stuff. Contact Ace records, Big Beat records, Cherry Red.... labels like that. I'm sure some of those labels would jump at the chance of putting out a Daughters Of Eve full length record. Do it!!!

The Daughters of Eve were not the first first all-girl band. They were preceded by many others, both in the U.S. and abroad, most notably Ginger and the Snaps, lead by Genya Ravan, which formed in 1962, and The Pleasure Seekers with Suzi Quatro, which formed in 1964. Both of these groups released singles in 1964, a year before the Daughters of Eve formed and two years before the Daughters' first single.

Wasn't Genya the lead singer in Goldie and the Gingerbreads? I think Ginger and the Snaps was a band led by a female vocalist and there were three men in it.

I like this cover. Nice band name, too. Maybe, way back in B.C., there actually were daughters of Eve. Otherwise, Cain and Abel must have been motherfuhqers, 'cuz otherwise, where did all the women in the world come from?
