you should definetly watch his original verion of "unravel" as well !
I recommend reacting to "【MV】six feet under / Mori Calliope (produced by TK)". This is, like the brackets say, produced by TK for a famous Vtuber(=virtual youtuber) called Mori Calliope. It is funny that you mentioned Chester Bennington here because that song especially gives me some Linkin Park Vibes.
another amazing song of TK is "TK from 凛として時雨 『Signal』"
a vtuber original song by Nana Asteria I can recommend is "Call Unto You/ Nana Asteria [Official MV]" and also Hayato Kagami with his song "Within" (【MV】加賀美ハヤト - WITHIN【にじさんじ】)
Now all that's left is to check out the original full version of this song.
+1
Yes please
Yeah I agree tooo
especially with the absolutely banger guitar
Agreed
TK is actually the original singer/songwriter of Unravel. He really has that “hopelessness” emotion to Unravel, while Ado has that frustrated emotion to it.
Chris analyzing japanese songs is my new favorite arc
same tbh
Yeah, I'm relatively new here and did not expect something like this, but I'm the completely opposite of disappointed!!
Yes!
Some added analysis coming from a Japanese person:
His use of consonants is genius. He replaced the w in theをin the phrase 「その仕組みを」(Sono Shikimi wo)for a f to add breathiness to the vowel. Also, at the section where he repeats the phrase 動けない (ugokenai) he adds a K before the U sound to separate the phrases clearly. Subtle usage of consonants helping his singing immensely. Well played.
Yess, I feel like he specifically wrote the lyrics with the registers in mind. Like you said, the "k" consonant was meant to help with closure for the head voice belt. He also chose very specific words so that the highest note in the song will be sung in a dark vowel. "Mitsukenaide", "Oboeteite", "Omoidashite", "Wasurenaide". The second vowel for all of these words is very dark, which would help him go into the falsetto register for the highest note in the song. Still, I had no idea how he could break in and out of falsetto that high and do it over and over again (that G#5 is repeated 11 times throughout the song). TK is a genius.
Omg thank you both!! This is so cool!!!
Ado's version is very very good but TK's voice is really the only one that can truly convey the emotions of this song. I love your breakdowns keep it up.
Personally i disagree since i think ado's version is so literal to the lyrics throughout. They both show the struggle in the words very differently. Personally i prefer ado's painful presentation but this sounds much more like a weeping kind of sadness. Both incredible
@@walker4044TK’S version definitely fit Kaneki’s feelings more to me, though I prefer Ado’s screaming version.
@@walker4044Ado nailed it, don't get me wrong. but TK embodies what Tokyo Ghoul was. and this song was made for Tokyo Ghoul so there we go.
@@CzarAice01 i agree 💯👍
@@walker4044you see kaneki's personality ain't just explosion
This song is made to capture how the main character of the anime Tokyo Ghoul is feeling and TK did such a great job conveying this. But Ado being young did such a wonderful work she has such a great potential
Oh I can't wait for this. TK is crazy, crazy talented. His voice is so interesting. Tokyo Ghoul for those who don't know is the anime associated with this song, dark, brooding and sad is a way to explain it without spoiling a thing.
You're looking at TK now ?
Well damn, things are about to get real good
I love how Chris looks and listens to a TK like he's his teacher from mus school and he's concerned about TK singing all the parts right
I like the original person because it shows that it is quietly despairing and Ad is desperately despairing.😊
TK and Ling Tosite Sigure genuinely have some of most underrated music out there, what makes all of it even more impressive is that TK can sing on top of playing the best guitar riffs I’ve ever heard. I highly recommend you check out Abnormalize and from Ling Tosite Sigure.
You did covers first? Well welcome to the master of the song. TK is something special.
Everytime i hear this it makes me want to watch tokyo ghoul i just wish tokyo ghoul met the potential it had. Tk's masterpiece
The _Psycho Pass_ OPEDs is also great...
Basically:
TK's Unravel: Pain and Sadness
Ado's Unravel: Anger and Hate
Both are Masterclass
No TK's from pain to anger to sadness to hate
Ado's only anger and hate
@@TheWilsonwu1000idk about that Ado’s voice sounds pretty sad and desperate especially in the live version
not hate, desperation
@@TheWilsonwu1000 ado's live version got me shed some tears so idk what ur talking about
@@yuno0807ado's voice sounds pretty sad? more like pretty bad...
You should watch the live version of tk of unravel coz he plays guitar in it too and he knows how to shred too 😁
It's TK s song , he created it for the first opening of the anime Tokyo ghoul, please check out the original studio version also or some of his other live performances of unravel on stage where he even plays the guitar while singing.
Technicality aside, TK conveyed the emotions of that song perfectly. Tokyo ghoul was sad, sweet and violent so the way he sang unravel fits perfectly with the show. TK has such finesse with his performance that his voice transcends language barriers.
Because it's a song made for the sad anime of Tokyo Ghoul. I really remember the situation of that anime. The people in the band are also musical and I like them. I'm happy because I didn't think you would touch the first take♪😊
Chris, the official version is even more emotional to me, you here the guitar solos, the drums, everything expresses that crying voice
Ado is great, huge fan, but god TK just has her beat. Nothing beats him with this song, so impressed by him
You really would need to see the anime for the fullest context of this version of the song. When his accoustic version played in the anime, it brought me to dang tears.
I've read before that TK really tries to embody the feelings of the main character in the show when singing Unravel. Which is a lot of sadness, pain, loss of self & belonging, & loneliness. If you watch anime, I recommend watching Tokyo Ghoul.
The scream is actually an octave above what you demonstrated here :p
Cool to see you cover more Japanese artists
The absolute excitement from the analysis, I'd even say "giddy excitement".
TK is absolutely amazing at pertraying emotion in his voice and the words he uses.
Unrelated, the transition to talking about your program was smooth as hell.
Yessssssss I've been waiting for this reaction LOL didn't disappoint
This is my first time seeing this channel, but I've been watching TK for years. I absolutely adore the visual way your body follows the music, and how into it you seem to feel! You gained my subscription, and I will definitely be visiting your channel often!
I also recommend his performance of "copy light" he did on the first take!!
Great intersection dividing the voices and tones. Unravel is one of my favourite opening and song. So much dynamic going on, including the singing, thanks for differentiating it.
Wow i never expected this, great job as always, Chris.
great technical and stylistic analysis, as always from you, truly appreciated, especially with the Chester comparison being brought up in the discussion, gave me goosebumps....thank you very much sir and good luck on your future works ! 😊✌🎤🎧
Amazing video, you should definitely check out the full version of "Katharsis", also by TK!
TH-cam just suggested this to me and I am glad I found it and clicked here. Thank you for introducing him to me. Gotta check out more of his works
The original song is by tk and not ado but both of there versions are great
This is the first time i watch this channel and i love it already, i dream about having a room like his, it's so beautiful.
Also great production quality and work put into this video, i also love the fact that he seems passionate about music, i have always loved music and it's great to see other people enjoy it as much as i do or maybe even more.
kind of loving the christ liepe unravel arc!! thank you for covering Ado and unravel so much!!
If you ever plan to react to another first take video I highly recommend: 女王蜂 - 火炎 / THE FIRST TAKE (You can search Queen Bee - Fire)
The vocal range and technique is just amazing
Coming out soon!
I'm so freaking happy you did this analysis. This is the first thing I thought of when you discussed Ado.
Now you have to watch Tokyo Ghoul.
I love how this guy explains in a singing voice.
7:33
TK is so technical with his singing. This on top of playing wildly technical guitar at the same time. He’s a god
wonderful reaction!!!!! I love it .Thank you ! :)
Love your analysis!
For the people that don’t know just in case TK is the original composer of the song. All others are covers.
covers are way better.
@@MrPipol-nm3cdOnly Ado stood a chance, but then again Tk is the only one who can use such a raw emotion. Notice how ado can't break her voice section? Cause she can't do it like how tk do.
Chris your "click the link below" transitions get better and better. So smooth and conversational.
Wonderful analysis, it's clear you love music.
i've never seen a music react video that gives off such strong music teacher vibes.
and also tk is amazing.
I loved this analysis! It was so easy to understand even for me! Thank you for explaining so well and being passionate about talking about what you enjoy.
May I make a request? Queen Bee's 01 which was released last season might be interesting to hear as well
Man, I love the depth of your analysis. Would love to see your analysis of his song "copy light" on THE FIRST TAKE also.
Yes Chris! This is THE version that got me hooked on TK, credit to Jonathan and Michael of course ♥️
Would love you to do my first story at some point, I feel like you'd vibe with Reviver as a song
Uma experiência nova pra mim, Gostei!!!
Ado is releasing her aishite aishite aishite cover tommorow and i just need tj reccomend it in advance as im 100% sure it will be mind-blowing
Since you loved this one, you should absolutely check out TK's performance of his song Copy Light on The First Take. It's an amazing performance, and also one of the only times a singer started crying mid performance on The First Take. I would love to see you react to that video, it's my favorite song from TK
You should definitely check out the full version of "Katharsis" by TK. Its not quite as well known as "Unravel" but just as good
After ado's unravel, now welcome the final boss master, TK
Chris, you have gotta check out Kyo from Dir En Grey. Specifically, the song Diabolos. Kyo showcases everything from crooning like an angel, to screaming like a demon. Kyo has an INSANE vocal range. Please check it out.
One thing to note about Kyo is that he does not use healthy techniques for some of the stuff he does, and has had to tone down a lot of the extreme stuff more recently because he's damaged his voice.
That's not to take away from what he does, just to point out that sometimes vocal coaches make the assumption that someone has found a way to make stuff work safely when that's not necessarily true.
PLEASE DO THIS
@SM-by1od Only lack to say he should watch always his live performances, videos are disturbing and difficult to focus on the songs. Diabolos is a great song, although maybe something shorter as "Diferent Sense" would be more suitable for being analized.
@@Bobbias That was almost a decade ago. He changed he's approach to singning and it seems its working fine. Before 2012 he had several periods where he was not able to perform diagnosed with vocal cords damage but now it's been years without further complications. Taking into account he's very active being frontman on 3 bands already, if his techniques were not healthy he would have relapsed many times.
I cant remember what song it was, but i couldnt help but feel they learned English from the song Black Label by Lamb of God. Much like Black Label, the whole song was in "English", but equally incoherent. It was a long time ago, 2010 maybe.
@@panizal I wasn't saying everything he did was unhealthy, just that some of the techniques he used in his more extreme vocals in the earlier stuff did use unhealthy techniques.
Can't wait for you to react to more ado songs like those from film red!
Gracias!
Asphyxia by Co shu Nie is also pretty good especially the First Take version, both Unravel and Asphyxia are used in the Tokyo Ghoul series
TKさんのunravelを聴いていただきありがとうございます!🎉
感情の表し方、歌うときのイメージについての考察とてもわかりやすかったです!
Love your videos, love the japaneses singers. (I think the scream "unraveling the world" is one octave higher the pitch you did) sorry for my english 😅.
YEEEESSS, THIS VERSION
Please also explain the song "Red:birthmark" that TK provided to AiNA THE END.
AiNA THE END "Red:birthmark" - NHK WORLD-JAPAN Music Festival
TK is self taught and hasn't had any vocal coaching yet, he wants to but he hasn't gotten to it yet. And the reason he sings so high, is because the studio he used to do band practice in drowned out his vocals because he was more focused on the guitar. So to hear his own vocals, he would sing an octave higher which seemed to help. At first his voice would break a lot, but at some point it just stopped.
Now time to reaction to the original unravel from TK sir
Always love your reactions! Just tell us when you are ready to react to all Ado's songs for One Piece Film Red (all of them are so different and so cool) and we will share the list with the order of the songs you need to react
To continue into Japanese songs, I recommand you the band SiM, which mix metal and raggae.
The singer, Mah, is very funny and have a lot of versatility in his voice.
Exemple of songs :
- Blah Blah Blah
- The Rumbling
- FXXKFXXKFXXK
Also, There is a lot of great Japanese band that you can listen if you want to discover more of Japanese rock music : Coldrain, Paledusk, My first story, Hanabie, Dir En Gray, Crystal Lake, Knosis, Maximum the hormone…
and more :)
They are all very unique and very veeeeery good. Every band that I cited have great singer(s) !
Thank you for your videos !
You’re aware that this IS TKs song right? This song makes me cry every time. The tones just trigger me idk why. I know the words and without the lyrics I still cry. Songs like this make me want to learn a foreign language.
IDK, but your scream singing was pretty awesome too. If more metal singers sounded like that I would probably be more into metal.
Love this song sooo much
omggg thank you l love so much TK
can see 10 seconds in how much music means to u. instant subscribe
As a TK fan, I can confidently say that Ado's live performance of unravel corresponded closely with the live version of "Sainou Live (2020)" or "egomaniac feedback tour (2021)". Both of them were amazing performances, highly recommended to take a look. (He can also play the guitar and sing so well simultaneously...)
this is one of my favourite japanese tracks, simply for the masterfully emotive and technical vocals
Chris, Ado recently release an album of her covering songs. check those out, especially the "Aishite Aishite".
When you unraveled it sounded like broken leg Morty at first. Hahaha loved it
You should definitely check out TK’s live performance of Unravel !
Hi Chris! Long time subscriber speaking from another account. Really great analysis bringing new ways to enjoy music as always! I've been listening to a rock band called Palaye Royale and the vocalist Remington Leith has a very unique voice that I would love for you to give your perspective on it. Other people have reacted to his voice but I think your analysis would be such a cool thing to watch. I think "Oblivion" is a good representation of his unique voice in a moderate but strong voice. Also the acoustic version of "Dy.ing in a hot tub" shows the power of his singing. I think you'd maybe like it and give it a listen. Great video btw!
Wait till he finally give LiSA a listen to, she does one of these too and it may bring a tear to your eye.
This version of this song always gives me chill
The first take version of TK's unravel is definitely my favourite
You have to check out katharsis, it’s by the same guy for the same anime but I feel like the emotion in the song evolved even more in that one, trust, you’ll love it
Love this song
There is another song by TK called "Copy Light", I personally like this one more than Unravel. Hope you check it out!
15:57 この息遣いが好き
Omg this is literally early Christmas
I’d love to see you react to more Ado! Some recommendations are:
Rabuka (cover)
Bocca della verita (cover)
Otome Kaibou (cover, she was about 16 if I remember right)
Buriki no Dance (cover)
Kura Kura
And all her songs as Uta from the One Piece film!!
this song hits so deep
some amazing songs from TK are signal from 91 days or abnormalize from psycho-pass, you should check them out too!
There's so many Japanese artists that I want you to react! I'm just waiting for Yoasobi and Eve to slip in your channel
Just an FYI, Ado's cover is off the original version. This first take version is completely different from his original.
Good to know! So many of you asked for the reaction of "the first take" version... seemed like that's where people wanted me to land first, but I'll definitely check out the original!
I just wanted to say, I'm in no way a singer or even remotely musically inclined, I just like good music. Your reactions and in-depth detailing of the specific skill used in each part of the songs you react to has been giving me an entire new level of appreciation for songs that I already loved. I thank you for that
so good reaction! i love it! you can react to the original TK version? like live version
Watch also TK's Copylight in The First Take. Great analysis btw.
Great Reaction! I would like to see you react to the TK's Unravel the studio/anime version
今回のバージョンは、原作やアニメを知ってる人なら胸が締め付けられる。原曲はアップテンポで激しく表現されてる。
TK is the original artist of Unravel, Ado is just a cover ( A really good cover)
its funny cause as tokyo ghoul fans or of the band and song, the original track is what we are used to and its a very different take than the first take version with its acoustics and a gentler TK. then the first take came and we were like wow. and then ados performance came with the studio and live version and went, very good take and although its not the first female cover of the song, its very much "ados' version that we hear on stage. the funny part is he is going thru this process backwards
Great analysis, as a person with 0 knowledge of singing or vocal techniques it was really interesting :) Please check out Katharsis by TK, it's an amazing song
i never really knew the lyrics but they fit the context of the first season perfectly
Man Id love to hear Chris react from stuff from DGD on Jackpot Juicer or one of their singles.
❤️🔥 ❤️🔥 ❤️🔥
Please listen to the full original version. That is the definitive masterpiece.
