Thank you! I watched another video from someone who is normally informative and his details were terrible. You details helped me immensely! Thanks again
Piece of garbage was so tight I had to lightly beat out the triangle piece into pieces. Got it fixed, but there’s no way I would’ve gotten that far had I not seen this first. Thank you
Lol! Exactly! I've owned 3 C5s. The only one to not have this issue was the 99 FRC. The one I still have, a 99 coupe, I've had since 2000. I just ignored the floppy dog ears for years. Finally it got to me. Once removed from the car I have 2 inches more or so of visibility out the windhsheild. I should have done this swap 10 years ago.
Good morning, thanks so much for this video. I am grateful. My sun visors are in bad shape. The cloth material is really deteriorating. You can see little pieces falling off as you rub your fingers across it. Your video is a huge help for me. Many, many thanks again. I am in my late 60's and didn't want to carry my 1999 to a place that would charge me an arm and a leg. My birthday was yesterday so this video is a great present. Take care my friend.
I finally figured out why I couldn't install the replacement visors. The wire lead was too short; only 1/2" long compared to almost 2" on my old visors. That prevented being able to get the connector far enough into the channel which didn't allow the triangular piece on the end of the visor arm to be inserted sufficiently. I called the company and they sent me replacements with longer wire leads. It was pretty simple after that.
Wish mine went so smooth, PIA to get the old drivers side removed, I finally got it and a PIA to get it back in, then the one's I ordered from Amazon didn't fit just right, the arm was too short to lock into the holder and will not snap into the holder, I have to get my dremel and remove some to get it to snap, I'll do the passenger side next weekend that's how long it took me.
Great stuff.. and thanks!! Might want to mention that the passenger side rotates opposite to the drivers side.. go figure. Otherwise.. everything is the same. two minute install.
Excellent and detailed instructions. Thank you. I removed the driver's side visor that had a broken "wing". Once our, I opened up the broken part , discarded the crappy cardboard, cut 2 new pieces of cardbroad but before I put it all back together, I inserted a thin piece of rigid plastic from a milk bottle between the pieces, glued it and reassembled the visor. Everything works and it looks as it should. The removal and reinstallation took only a few minutes.
Thank you. Your instructions are exact. However, I purchased new visors from TopFlight. The bezel that is connected to the visor was so tight/seized that it stripped the trimm bezel after installed. You couldn't move bezel piece with hand like you did. So I had to remove the new attached bezels and use my old ones because they moved freely, I then had to purchase one new trimm bezel and reinstall. All good now but disappointed with Topflights ill equipment. Anyone who cannot move bezel with your hand like in video think twice before installing because the trimm bezel is plastic and it will strip.
Thanks! Hi to the Mechanic at Scruf’s garage. Are you Scuuf? When your talking sun visor breakdown making dog ears? Seriously! I’m thinking what a perfect name for a dog, SCRUF! Your R&R c5 sun visor video you include every unseen detail taught in sequence making replacing em no problem.
Thx for vid. Mine didn’t have one on it at all so didn’t have a clue exactly how it went on and I didn’t rotate the clip (or know it needed rotated!). Went and did it right and it works great now!
thanks for sharing the secret. replacing both of mine (2004 convrt) got them from ecklers for $170.00 delivered. looking for an upholstery shop to dye them light oak to match the interior. good video
I need to do this to my C5. Thanks for the video, very helpful. Kinda new to this whole Corvette deal, and I agree, the visors are kinda pricey, as with most everything to do with a Vette. Even the steering wheel decals, fuel rail cover decals, etc, etc, are ridiculously priced!! Kinda missing my G8 GT now!!
Yea, welcome to the Corvette tax. It's crazy how expensive the sun visors are... and how crappy they are. Gotta pay to play I guess. Good luck on your upcoming C5 projects!
For the passenger side, is the rotation (for removal and insertion) in the same direction as the driver side, or is the rotation reversed? I want to ensure I don't force it in the wrong direction.
Great video. Thanks for posting. As others have said its relatively easy and doesn't take much time. Your instructions were spot on. I ordered mine from Eklers and was satisfied.
Well done! Thank you for posting. I don't need to replace my visors but I do need to drop the headliner in my FRC so I can route the cables for a dual dashcam system. Can you tell me if the passenger side screw driver slot needs to rotate in the opposite direction from the driver's side? Thanks, again.
@@ScrufsGarage Man....guess what....i just got in from replacing my visor...took my vette out for a quick run and......there is a small motor oil pool on my garage floor.....dammit..if it aint one thing it's another!!!!! Lol !!!! Next project!
geez, that stinks. Can you tell where the leak is coming from? Hopefully it's just something minor. I guess more "quality" time with the corvette is in your future, haha. Did the visor install go ok?
@@ScrufsGarage Visor install went perfect. Did not jack car up yet but i did quick visual underneath and i could see fresh oil( not alot)on the oil pan, none on the oil filter. I will jack her up in the next few days.
Hi watch the vid! It was help, except ran into a big problem! Put the screwdriver in as suggested! But pulling the mirror as suggested, the whole mounting also turned with it!!! Any suggestions to get around thins other then putting a channel locks to hold the bottoms stop it from turning also to get the viser out without marking up the base???
I watched your video on replacing sun visors several times and have spent more than two hours trying to get the drivers side visor on my 2001 installed, but no matter how I've tried I can't get everything in place. Most of the trouble I'm having centers around getting the plug into the cavity to the left of where the visor will mount. I've tried to get it in on the right side but no luck there either. And worst of all I've read many of the comments from viewers who managed to complete their replacement. Sure would appreciate any other suggestions you may have. Thank you,
I was able to replace the passenger side visor with no problem at all but the driver side won't come off at all, I've stripped the plastic where you put the screwdriver to get the clip off, it hasn't budged. Is that the only way to get it off?
Thanks, they are Corbeau FX1 seats (slimmer "Pro" version on the driver side). Overall the seats are comfortable (for a fixed back race seat), and the seats make a huge difference on the track. I installed mine with sliders. But the sliders cut down on headroom. I'm 5'10" and with my helmet on, I'm very close to the roof. Now as the seat goes back, it slopes down, so you gain a bit of headroom. But if you are 6'4", I think you'll probably want to eliminate the sliders and just hard mount the seats in place. I even cut the rear mounting pedestals off the seats to get the rear as low as possible (so that the seat leans back some). I did an installation video when I put the seats it, which I think will really help you. th-cam.com/video/FEBH4C9pIVU/w-d-xo.html
The seats are Corbeau FX1 seats. I've been very happy with them. Reasonably priced and comfortable for a fixed-back race seat. I did an installation video on them a couple of years ago. th-cam.com/video/FEBH4C9pIVU/w-d-xo.html

Yea, some such a simple item they can really test your patience, haha. Glad to you got it!
Watched your video and in less than 20 Minutes changed out both sun visors on my 2000 corvette convertible---THANKS for making it so easy !
Thanks, I just installed new amazon visors in my C5. It was a little tricky on the first one but the 2nd was much easier,
Helpful video in getting the old visors off. I decided to go with "Corvette Clips" visor eliminator plugs. Best decision I ever made for under $20.
There ya go! They can't break if they aren't there, haha!

For the passenger side, is the rotation (for removal and insertion) in the same direction as the driver side, or is the rotation reversed? I want to ensure I don't force it in the wrong direction.
It is opposite, so to the right to remove and left to install(tighten) for the passenger side, everything else is the same.
Thanks man just got new ones
Awesome, congrats! Thanks for watching.
Great video. Thanks for posting. As others have said its relatively easy and doesn't take much time. Your instructions were spot on. I ordered mine from Eklers and was satisfied.
I don't know why, but mine had to turn the opposite way. Clockwise to remove, and counterclockwise to install.

Nice vid as always. These sun visors certainly are flimsy.

For the passenger side is it the same rotation or the opposite? (Anti clockwise or clockwise)
Thanks for the video. You were right, it is not intuitive at all.
Thank you this video was helpful. How do you fix the electric seat panel when it keeps popping out of the seat??
You install racing seats with 6pt harnesses! Problem solved, haha!
I have a set of sunvisors from a C6 Corvette that my buddy wrecked, will those fit on my C5?
very helpful, thanks
Glad it was helpful. It's not "hard" but it definitely helps to see it done once. Then it make sense. Thanks for watching!
Thanks man was stuck
No problem 👍 Happy to help.
Nice seats, I am 6'4", did you get more headroom with the seats? Are they comfortable, what model number?

I got everything in but I can’t seem to twist it in place for that last part of getting it in, any tips or tricks for that would be a big help
Hmm, you lightly push up and then rotate the arm towards the windshield and it clicks in. Be gentle with it though, the plastic pieces can be fragile.
Scruf's Garage thank you I really appreciate it!
I like your car seats .awesome design ! where can I get 'em and how much you paid for ? ,if you don't mind
The seats are Corbeau FX1 seats. I've been very happy with them. Reasonably priced and comfortable for a fixed-back race seat. I did an installation video on them a couple of years ago. th-cam.com/video/FEBH4C9pIVU/w-d-xo.html
I appreciate your efforts, but some of the critical procedures didn't come across very well
Does anyone know if the C6 visors are the same? I mean is it the same method to remove/replace?
Anyone ever changed the bulbs for the mirror on the visors. Drivers side never worked and now passenger side doesn't work
If anyone who has replaced their visors is in south Florida and would like to lend a hand please let me know. Thanks,
Thanks much!
