Yoongi doesn’t smoke. He just was kind of saying screw you to those who were judging V about suppose smoking. Yoongi strongly believes in health. He drinks casually but isn’t a drunk and doesn’t smoke. He did these things for this MV to prove a point .

An ashtray was seen on his genius lab on 2018 and there were rumors of him smoking pre-debut. He also made a smoking hand signal on the song "Her" where the lyrics say that he quited smoking so I'm not sure about that. It can be fictional though like what you said
it's not fictional. he doesn't smoke. whether he smoked in the past, who knows and who cares. currently and for many years he hasn't smoked. and said himself why he used the smoking reference in haegeum. also, the ash tray could've been for a guest etc in his studio. doesn't mean it was his.
