Both ramial wood chips, and spent saprophytic mushroom compost, are very close to mulch hay in C:N ratio. The goal for field crops is 24:1. Layer the mulch rather than mechanically incorporate it to keep the best soil structure. Earthworms and fungi will reach up and pull the mulch down into the soil. This was a great talk!
