  • Here's another tutorial I filmed a while ago for the botanical journal I made early November for a friend. I waited for her to receive before sharing any part of it.
In this video I made some botanical ephemera and fun secret journaling spots made with antiqpue book pages. These were inspired by Meditative Scrapbooking here on YT.

Oh! This mama bear would have been down that teachers throat! Poor Lulu, your a good mum! I know my children could be little stinkers, but I also new when they were right about a teacher, lol! My children would tell the teacher not to make me upset. Your just a better mum!😌

So sorry, Rach, for Lulu’s traumatic experience! I had a wise friend once tell me, we want our children to have the good character that hard times bring, we just don’t want them to have the hard times. I thought that was so true. I’m sure Lulu will be stronger in the end as she has the love and support of momma bear and Stephie. Wonderful pieces today! Thanks so much for sharing! ❤️

Give Lulu a big Texas hug. Is there an administrator or school board? I would be in his/her office or at the next meeting. Bullying is not tolerated in the US. Verbal abuse is as destructive as physical abuse. Always love the things you make.

Video is fab as always. I adore those little journaling folders. Thanks for your continued inspiration 💙Brenda x x

Rachel here in the states our Teachers would have a parent in their face if a teacher spoke to a student that way or lucky to still have a job. I don’t see how you didn’t step in and stop it. That’s abuse if you ask me but I’ve never been a part of another countries education system so I don’t understand in this day and age how any teacher can speak to a student like that. LuLu please sweet girl don’t let it change who you are. I’ve heard you speak on your mom’s videos and you speak better English than most Americans. That teacher obviously has some serious problems and should never verbally abuse any one. I’m sorry LuLu you had to go through that.

Lulu had head phones on so I couldn't hear it. One of the kids recorded a bit and they told the head teacher. They are watching her and have asked the kids to inform them if that behaviour repeats. In the public system it's very hard for them to fire teachers. Unfortunately she has a lot of power in that sense and can make Lulu's life miserable if I say something. Thank you so much!

Bless Lulu’s heart. She is very brave. I’m with you, my mama bear would have come out. I was that way with my children as well. They knew I had their back but if they weren’t being responsible I wasn’t too sympathetic about the real life consequences. I hope they do something about that angry teacher. Hugs for Lulu and you!

I haven't gotten through the whole video, but I'm sitting here fuming for Lulu. You let her know she has an American Mama who says she got this and I'm so proud of her for getting through that! She is going to be able to deal with anything life throws at her if she is becoming strong so young. I'd like to wring that womans neck. I was an art education major and I'm still fuming. Thank goodness Lulu had friends to back her up, I'm just thinking about the kids who dont have friends that would come into contact with this woman. Grrr. You guys are doing great teaching Lulu strength and I'll stop before I write a book. Lol! Hugs to you and Lulu!

I'm Mama Bear too. Also, I worked as a teacher for 30 years so I have very strong opinions about how students should be treated. I'm glad you were able to record this woman. She should not be working with children or young teens at all. Please tell Lulu for me that I'm so proud of her for being strong and answering the questions anyway. I love your art, Rachel. Tfs, 🌠🌟🌠

Poor lulu. Give her hugs from me. Remind her these struggles help to mold us into stronger better humans. Also try using your glossy accents ON TOP of your stamps or papers it dries and hardens and creates almost what embossing powder does without the mess of embossing powder. It can also be used to glue down things. But I think most of us “accent” the tops of things. For example if you had a wreath that you drew and it had berries on it. You could add the glossy accents to the berries to make them shinny and a different texture on your project.

Loved this video as always! It’s time for me to get busy now while I’m inspired from you. Everyone who works with children should have to take courses on how to be verbally responsible. If they can’t, than they should not be in that type of environment. It’s hard enough for children to grow up with so much happening and student bullying that occurs. Geez that teacher should not give any type of verbal testing.

I'm proud of you for keeping the "Mama Bear" in check. European school system is much different to American and Australian, teachers are in charge as they should be at any school, even though some of them abuse the power.

I didn't hear as Lulu had head phones on. I know it's hard to fire teachers in the public sysytem in Oz as well. My sister worked in it for a long time and said they had to gather all kinds of evidence against a teacher once and even then he wasn't fired but just moved to another school. It's the same here but the head teacher is watching her and says she is known for this type of behaviour. Other classes have complained as well so with more evidence they may discipline her. Thank you so much!

I would love to meet LuLu's Prof.... I could totally get down with her: Prof to Prof 🥊! But tell LuLu to hang in there, she may not appreciate the experience until much later in her educational journey!! I have students a bit older who are so severely shy to present their projects in front of the class and me, they become paralyzed; but we get there eventually. And you're probably tired of me commenting ... I could watch and listen to you craft all day long!! Always eventful and inspiring!🌻

I have glossy accents, but have never used as a gluing medium, wow, didn't know. I use it on top of things as a build up/like top, much like using acrylic to raise the item, like a super thick layered embossing in clear, but only have to drop it onto top of image to put a clear raised finish giving it texture! Use it all the time in card making, and recently on the oval shaped Tracie number tiny tags, as a raised clear topper, then punch through holes, and it's now a strong dangle! Great video , thanks for sharing. Oh, I was a music teacher for years, and never once yelled at my students, if I had, I would have been fired on the spot! Clearly this instructor as forgotten what it's like to be 15 and female and an artist with a gentle soul...grrrrrrrrrrrr ...love to Lulu, and stick to your guns!

My vote is to fire the teacher. Dealt with one such as that when my girls were in Senior High School. My Mother was in hospital dying of cancer and she had the audacity to say they should be in school instead of enjoying the last days with their Mimi.

As a retired world language teacher (Spanish,) what that teacher did is wrong on so many levels. Teens are generally very self-conscious and they have to be encouraged to try, even if it's not perfect, and not hounded to repeat innumerous times until it sounds like the teacher. Speaking so unkindly to students will certainly discourage further interaction and love for languages. She must obviously be intimidated by Lulu's abilities and feels threatened, but that is no excuse for chastising a student. Shame on her! Lovely pockets and some I had completely forgotten about. That's why making a sample pocket book is such a good idea and I'm working on it. TFS the inspiration and hugs and encouragement for Lulu!

These were adorable Rachel! So sorry Lulu was "harrassed" by this unprofessional teacher. No one can learn in an environment of intimidation. I had a male math teacher in the 6th grade that was just like this. I was very quiet and shy and he often made me cry. My mama bear confronted him. And you're right it only made it worse. I never told my mom again when a teacher upset me. Guess its all part of growing up and learning to deal with difficult people. Its sad though.

As a retired ESOL (English for Students Of other Languages) paraprofessional, it is upsetting to hear that a teacher would continue a line of questioning when the student is so obviously in distress. I must applaud Lulu her for her ability to summon the strength to continue with the Q &A. I am sorry that this behavior is allowed from an educator. I’ll say no more because it is very upsetting except to say to Lulu that I am truly sorry that she had this experience. Sending you a big hug from Florida sweetheart.

I always hear activities on the desk and follow along visually, but even with earbuds I can hear barely anything spoken. :( It seems others hear the audio fine. For me, your voice sounds very, very far away. I do have hearing loss. As I mentioned, I can hear activities at the desk with no problem. I miss so much of your conversation. Just a tip about the Glossy Accents. It is one of my favorite items. While it can be used as an adhesive, we use it more to give dimension. I use it a lot when I feel my page needs a little something but don't want to cover up the beautiful paper or add things that will add bulk. It is not glittery at all. Unfotunately i can't attach a picture here to show you. If you would like to see a picture, let me know what is best way to send to you. Also, when using it this way, Make sure to have pin as you should pop any air bubbles or they will harden in there. The thicker you apply it, the more dimension you will get.

Poor Lulu... we had a teacher like that at my girl's primary school. When I was doing my Diploma of Education and had to go into schools to practice, I saw her literally yell at a blind girl for walking too close to a table and knocking over Latin of paintbrushes. Appalling.
In the end, they got a new Principal that retired her.

Back to you!😁 These are lovely. It will encourage me to use my stamps.

That teacher must be mad; fancy abusing a child in a situation where she could so easily be recorded and observed by parents, other pupils or colleagues. The head of year should surely speak to her or amass enough evidence to take action against her. The head teacher should also be informed by the head of year. Let’s hope it stops and she doesn’t abuse other pupils. Chin up Lulu you’re better than her.

They did record a little of it and the head teacher has been informed. They are watching her, not sure if she knows that though. Thank you so much!

She is fine, she's quite resilient but does get a little anxious at times. Thank you so much!

What shameful behaviour by that teacher. Poor Lulu, dreadful experience to have to deal with.

As a former teacher I would say LuLu's instructor is a bully...and perhaps needs time off from teaching children. A big hug to LuLu for hanging in there and working with this trauma...this world can be cruel to us in our childhood.....words and actions HURT.

Unfortunately this teacher has lost all credibility or respect from Lulu, and she doesn’t deserve it. She has no business treating anyone like this let alone a young person. I know every country is different, but if that happened where I live, all hell would break loose. Parents would be in the headmasters office within minutes of what this teacher did.

The head teacher has been informed. She said other classes have complained so they are watching her. Thank you so much!
