This is super helpful, thank you! I'm getting some piston slap on my YZ250 and I'm trying to figure out where it's coming from because the engine has a a full top and bottom rebuild. I didn't measure the piston to cylinder clearance because the cylinder and piston were brand new in a kit but hopefully my measurements will point me in the right direction. Thanks for the help!
No complaints, for what it’s worth Yamaha I believe says to run their stock cast piston no more than 20hrs… I’m sure it’s similar no matter what one you buy
@@fardeenkhanshab1108 next time I need to do one maybe I could yes. I have a video of the top end rebuild if that’s what you’re after? Next time I do a bottom end though I’ll try and film
Much appreciation brother, always bringing us helpful information done in a professional way. Thanks a lot for taking the time to share.
Thanks for the video. Put your piston in the cylinder and you will be able to get measurements perpendicular to the bore.
Your very thorough with your explanation and expertise in this subject, and appreciate u sharing your knowledge on line. thanks, regards john. Aust..
Excellent video, I've never done a top end and will definitely reference this in the future! Thank you!

i know this is old, but check your wrist pin. if you are able to get it to have any play by hand, imagine the racket it will make when running.
Excellent vid. Really appreciate this
I'm was waiting to see how you were going to get those two middle cylinder measurements with that dial caliper. 😉
Well said .05 to .08 Piston clearance
Nice to see a fellow Canadian on youtube. Thanks for the info!
What year is your yz?

Haven't had good luck with those vertex pistons, Kinda of a red flag where it tells you the hours you can run them 😢
