In the mid 90s I bought a CDI marked 1952 Tula that had a refurbished birch stock and refurbished bayonet, but a beautiful blued receiver. I think I paid less than $200😊
Yessss Misha and SKS’s 😮😲😮😀 What a Beautiful Rifle and Yes Sling That Baby Up and Keep It Misha
slight bayonet lug change from 1951 to 1952 were the ears itself. Early models have straight ears, later models have a slight angle. This can be difficult to find bayonet collars for early rifles 49-51. I might try to procure a non-refurbed Izzy. My 1950 Tula also has a ringed reciever take down pin. Great video.
Still have a mint unfired 1954 Izhevsk SKS in the original box with all the accessories in mint condition
I'll give ya three fiddy for it.
My son has Chinese Norinco military surplus SKS crome barrel 1979 make in very good condition.
Although the SKS is Russian invention but Chinese gives them more boot.
It is the bestcsemi automatic rifle evermade for intermediate cartridge.
Absolutely love all my sks(s) (all china) really fun rifles to shoot and i love how many differences the chinese ones have. I'm sure it would be a much longer video to cover even half of the norinco variations!
My 1943 SVT-40 was supposedky built on Tula tooling in Izhevsk after they shipped all the manufacturing to Izhevsk when Nazis got too close.
I have a 1954 Izhevsk with the in the white bolt, original birch stock numbered to the gun with no X's and fairly nice bluing. I got a early canvas 1954 marked AK sling with the leather around the metal loop clip for it. Its a great collectible gun.
Misha I know you just did an M44 video can you please do a deep dive long format Mosin video? Thanks in advance and thank you for all that you.
I just picked up a 1952, looks untouched. Has shiny bolt and shiny blade bayonet. Also has the square with slash through it on the receiver and stock. But I wonder if it was one that was just in good enough shape that they left it alone and put the marks on it. All numbers matching as well. CDI import
Great info as always, just picked one up with all matching serial #’s, original box, paperwork and accessories.. posted the video up on my channel .. 👍🏼🥃🇺🇸
🇬🇷 Greece had some before they joined Nato believe it or not. And they gave them back to Russia
My 1956 tula letter rifle is my favorite non ak I own
Used to get em at hobart lumber maybe 93 for 100 bucks with a spam can of ammo. The good old days…🤘
The stock on the sks on bottom is beautiful. Something about that dark red shellac or whatever it is makes a rifle stock look amazing.
Is it common for an izzy sks to have a lam stock mine has matching numbers on the laminated stock
The only sks to have run off fire and slam fires, are the ones they didn't clean the cosoline out of the bolt
Correct
Im thinking its a keeper definitely
To my knowledge Springfield M1A's still have free floating pins. They include an article about slam firing with new rifles.
So do ARs. And M1 Garands.
@@MaxWray111 that's why springfield armory inc says not to load the cartridge directly into the breach
I knew when he pulled out the Russian, we were gonna see some more variations lol, that why i stay tuned!
I have a 52 Tula # matching with import Mark under the bayonet my second Russian gun
Cool, they come with a mono pod
Chinese pike bayonets work as well on the prone position. A 30 round permanent mag is something I did for a guy. It's easy to work on.
Hello Mishaco, they told me you know more than everyone here on ak. Please what does an ak with 1984 and ZN stand for??
Runaway slam fires do absolutely happen with these sometimes, I saw it firsthand on a friend's Norinco. And no, the firing pin channel wasn't gunked up or dirty. The tapered firing pin had wallowed out the tapered hole in the bolt face to the point that they became mechanically locked together when the hammer fell on his second shot that day. Just bad geometry plus age and wear. One of those aftermarket spring-loaded pins solved the issue for him.
As I recall the SKS ban had a lot to do with a certain US manufacturer who was making a similar handy military style carbine here in the US and was losing a lot of business to to the SKS.
I have a Russian sks izmash Never looks to been shot . It has plum wood so I’m guessing it’s not factory idk . Never seen another. Thanks 🙏
I have a refurbed Izhevsk SKS. One of my favorite rifles
I can imagine that SKS was more suited for reservists who were used to work with Mosin rifles during WWII and so maybe Soviet leaders thought that AK47 will be used for newly trained troops, while SKS will be stored in case WWIII erupts for older guys. (Bayonet, no detachable magazine, strip feeding, traditional stock etc.)
When the 7.62x39 was designed by the Soviets in 1943, the design bureau was tasked to design a main battle rifle, a assault rifle similar to the STG44 which would act like a modern SAW, and a light machine gun. The SKS is the main battle rifle and the AK the assault rifle. Original intent to give majority of troops SKS to replace the bolt action Mosins, and 1-2 AKs per unit. By the time they got all of its issues worked out and the AKM in production, they realized it could perform all 3 functions so there wasn't any reason to produce anything else.
I'm eyeing a Tula at my lgs. It's pretty.
Congratulations on your Izzy
Nice shirt buddy : )
Another excellent video
👍😎
100% keeper!
awesome video as always!
Good looking rifle.
Score!
Always put a correct sling if you can. One of the joys of collecting I found was getting a sling, and a boyonet.
