- The Hill family enters the Not Like Mama kitchen to battle it out over their family’s treasured dish - Jollof Rice.
Alma and her mother, Sharon take on the West African delicacy, Jollof Rice. The approach can vary from country to country but Alma proudly considers her family’s Liberian Jollof to be the best. Will her version reign supreme over mama Sharon’s?
Not Like Mama is a brand new cooking competition series hosted by Tia Mowry and Terrell Grice where home cooks challenge family matriarchs and patriarchs to see who can recreate their family’s treasured recipe the best. It’s a culinary face-off where the stakes are personal. Will tradition prevail, or will a new rendition take the cake?

Mama should be proud because she taught her how to make it and she added her own twist to it
I would watch Alma’s cooking show in a heartbeat. She had so much presence and personality in front of the camera.
I love that Ms. Sharon said "They use meat, I don't use meat, I just use chicken." (and I know exactly what she meant)
Mama should be impressed and proud. Her baby learned it from her and will pass it on to her babies.
Mother was too stunned to speak! 😂😂😂 It’s ok! If it’s good and you taught her, you’re credited as well! ❤️
Mama was not looking to impressed at the end.
She was pissed!
😂😂😂😂
I was saying the same thing bless her heart.
Mama was vex
Tia and Terrell are magic together. Bring more of this back. I love food, LOVE Jolly, mouth was drooling the whole time. Congrats Alma.
Mama looks like she has that competitive spirit.😅 But I can tell she liked Alma's rice because she was slow to put that fork down. She didn't win, but I think the best chefs teach so well that it empowers you to innovate. I've had Nigerian, Senegalese and Ghanian Jollof rice, but it's looks like I've been missing out. I'd love recipes from both.😊
Not my Liberian brethren saying they're known for jollof when the rest of us don't even include them in the conversation 🤭. The jollof wars continue! 🤣
💯💯😂
Liberia has actually won several jollof festivals in the US. It’s true every one talks about Nigeria and Ghana but they’re not the best.
Forever!🇳🇬🇳🇬
I love Nigerian food but Liberian jellof rice swim circles around the rest of jellof rice it’s just the truth
Mama should be proud! She look a little perturbed though.
Soooo proud of Terrell🎉🎉🎉
Yasss…I see Tia and Terrell and I click! Done.
I saw the pic and immediately knew it was Liberian jollof rice! Love my people
Love to see my Liberian people representing 🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷
mama looked BIG mad lol...
Mama was not happy😂!!
when the food makes you wiggle, you KNOW it's good!
Not me stumbling on this video whilst eating Jollof Rice....Nigerian style, with my own unique tweak 😊
Normally we boil the meat in ginger, garlic, onion, hot pepper, salt, paprika and garlic powder , spices and herbs before frying or adding to jollof for that extra flavour. As a Ghanaian she tried in that little time.
I love the show why am I just finding out about it now!?
🎉This was awesome👏🏾 The host and guests all did a great job!
I was so excited when she said Liberian!
Love this amazing duo together ❤❤❤❤
I loveeee the series ❤❤❤
My heart is so full watching this.
This is the first episode of this show that I’ve watched… I will now be watching ALL OF THEM!

It’s the hate for me 😂 every country’s jollof is not the same dear and Liberia has won several jollof competitions soo we’re not new to this 🇱🇷
@@bossladyblueskeep dreaming
Abeg Liberian Jollof rice is the best
😂
Awesome congrats
Was it just me or I wasn’t feeling the mom’s energy? Tryna give the benefit of the doubt but when Tia tried to compliment her daughter and she just made it sound as if an expectation. It told me all I needed to know.
She’s just an African mom lol she means well
@@SDotColeintention doesn’t change outcome you know? I get it but at the same time she should be proud of her daughter and show that to her daughter.
@cjkn239 this is african mom resting face. Trust me she is proud lol
I know her!!! We went to college together!!!
I'm here for Terrell and Tia

I hope she doesn’t live with her Mother cause she is out of a home 😂
In The Gambia, it is called chebudien or ceebudjen(or Senegal's way), or benachin. My bad on spelling I actually had a Liberian version (made safe)😂😂😂 for a mixed crowd
That mama was HOT😂
Not yall in the comments acting like yall own the trademark on jollof rice 😂 😂😂 like no other African country cooks jollof rice 😂
Liberians literally win a majority of jollof competitions. Act like you know lol
Tia didn’t want to eat that chicken at 1st.
na rice an stew now...... it is what it is.
No be only me see am
Friendly competition between Nigeria and Ghana, not west African countries. Don’t put yourself there, no other country qualifies 😬
🤣🤣🤣
Asin they can’t compete
And unfortunately, Liberia is the best so ur can continue to be arguing among urself
@@cynthiavarney843 keep dreaming 🤣
@@cynthiavarney843 keep telling yourself things 😁
No need to precook the rice, should cook with the tomato base for the best result. 😅
My Nigerians shift to this corner 😂 because that ain’t it
She didn't washed her meat !! that trough me all the way off… lawwwwd but i am proud of her tho
She didn’t clean that chicken
I peep dat 😂😂
I'm sure for time sake some tasks were cut out
Love us666😈😈😈
Mother, you need to learn to be proud for your daughter. That is what we all want our kids to do better than us. Why are you looking like that i'm not congratulated her
That is not Jollof rice🤐🥴
This isn’t the authentic Nigerian Jollof.
Yeah cause they are Liberian. Smh
Right, tell em. Not everything is about Nigeria@@peachescole5340
Its not a west African delicacy. Its a stolen senegalese dish. From the jollof tribe
It is eaten ALL over west Africa. Of course with origins in Senegal/The Gambia- this we all know. So yes, it is a West African delicacy.
@@mutelarsorhougbe4606 Thanks for the intelligent answer! 🤎. I don't know why most people keep having that ignorant statement DUHHH from Senegal LOL. but it was never stolen lol it was just learned and cooked around the West. Heck in America is jambalaya and in Latin countries, it is tomato-rice. The moral is that Jollof has been made in different versions around the world@SajaRoukh. and to enlighten you some more NIGERIANS made it popular and well-recognized around the globe. Proud Nigerian LOL. Anyway, it is a well-known item and I have eaten different versions and respect each country.

What do they know about jollof and what good jollof taste like 😂 none of them are African
Is Liberia not in Africa or am I trippin?
@@leekeebooit is, I think he’s saying that because they’re Liberian-American so I guess in HIS eyes not African enough.
