First of all jfk and a few other pt boats were ordered to engage with 10 Japanese battle ship destroyers after the bad episode the pt boats were retreating back to base while Jack's boat keep in mind it was 1943 there were no sonar GPS and lights on board was struck on it's side in pitch darkness the rest is history he also lost a brother the next year fighting in Europe stop being a jealous and do something with your life
