Nice Mike!! Depends on how thick the sheet metal is you can staple it with a pneumatic stapler. RAWK!!

Unfortunately, I don’t have a pneumatic stapler, but stick around and you will see the solution. 😎😎

I only have one worry and that is the wood absorbing moisture and warping and delaminating and the staples rusting and working loose. I'm thinking that the wood should have been treated with something or maybe painted first to prevent moisture soaking in. You did mention he is taking the seat off and storing it out of the wet, so it may not be an issue. 🤞
I was also wondering what you would treat the vinyl with to prevent it from cracking when Summer rolls around. I'm guessing some sort of vinyl treatment. Since it is all weather, I'm guessing the manufacturer recommends something. Just thinking ahead so he doesn't have them bleaching in the sun and cracking right away. Something to put on the calendar for next May or June.
    Until next time.

The dozer has a cover over it so it’s never in direct sun or sees direct moisture. The vinyl is an outdoor rated vinyl, which means it has UV protection.
I would have used outdoor rated treated plywood if it was going to be exposed to the elements
