I’m very happy to see the cops actually try to help the mentally ill instead of using excessive force I hope it will work

I wish the police in the uk were like this in the uk they start banging loudly on the door and then they come in full uniform and then they ask you all these scary questions and then they tell your parents and your school and they threaten to arrest you and this has happened to me a lot lately...

Thank you for treating individuals with mental illness and mental disorders like human beings. You don't know how much this means to me personally to see. The new training is very important and is a more caring and understanding approach.

It angers & saddens me that Law enforcement is left to deal with mentally ill people on a daily basis in the US. Maybe if the mental health system got it's act together, that wouldn't happen.

Yeah psychiatrist are a bunch of d and c students. It’s stuck in the 19th century. Doesn’t even have laboratory diagnostic testing, which means all of their diagnose is a description of symptoms.

The police agencies need to hire mental health and crisis workers, just like they have social workers. Together with the proper agency that’s specialized in this such as mental health professional staff. Like outside Contractors kinda

This is a step in the right direction. A friend of mine needed help for a similar situation during college and when the police and ambulance came, they searched the entire house and made us both feel like we’re being investigated for something, instead of victims and helping friend. They searched every nook & cranny asking if there’s drugs in the house!?! It was a well kept home we had no arrest records. Very ODD

This is good, many have been abused and aren't mentally ill ,they don't know how to respond to the trauma that happened to them. Think like a car accident and what you witnessed its like that depending on the damages incurred and this may include a loved one or numerous ones ! Life is not sweet for everyone. A good responder can save and change a life !

This may come off wrong, but i would give police officer information on how to help control people with self harm. I monitored adam lanza, nick cruz and everything. The basic principles of controlling self harm is food, temperature, and controlling their own situation. If you watch, nick Cruz goes to subway after the shooting. Which tells me that he was "very" delusional. When you do not eat, your mind controls you more. If the temperature drops below a 66 degrees Fahrenheit. I have to stay warm or else my mind will go into a toxic mindset. I enjoyed self harm because it always kepted me thinking. I feel like a vegetable today being normal now. I miss that controlling part.

40 hours are not enough, I still would not call police for wellness checks!

Just don't be like Toronto police, in Toronto the system is counter productive. if you have a mental illness and you are in the hospital the hospital records can not be released to anyone without your convent or a court order. You can even ask them to lie for you, but if you say anything to Toronto police they create a police record that potential employers or volunteer services can ask for, it is counter productive and does not make any sense. I understand if police want to keep records themselves so they can prepare if their are possible future incidents but to give those records out to those who ask is lunacy and what makes it even worse is that you can eventually clear criminal records but you can't clear a mental health record, that is for life.

mental illness is a HEALTH issue not a LAW ENFORCEMENT ISSUE, once told to leave a residence and the police do not leave they should not have the right to self defense even if being shot at.

Police officer interaction with the mentally ill is not going to work. I am proud to say that I self harmed and i enjoyed it. The only thing that cures mental illness is marijuana 2nd hand smoke. I was in a vehicle for 8 hours at work. Over the course of a year, i got better. My fear returned, ("self harm removes fear from the person") but i am not happy with living like this. I prefer to self harm and feel like i did beforehand because I felt happy. I had no regrets and i figured out how self harm works.

If you prescribed marijuana to someone with shozfrenia or shizoaffeive disorder you basically sentenced them to a life team of brainless death and a destruction of the willl to power.
