    This is a hidden gem. I bought this months ago and this thing is amazing. Sounds great and natural. Only thing is that i wish it has better internal components which has better chips and a noiseless switchers. When i connected the roland expression pedal to use it as a volume pedal, the overall volume decreased.

      None. I tried. After 37 years, lord I tried. My last "last pedals" were EH Canyon, Ravish Sitar and TC Ditto X4 looper....they all feed the Habit, just like my Zoom G3--which has same sounds as the G5, but the point really is appreciating each and every pedal for what it is--a tool, with it's own characteristics, which either you can use somewhere or not; but then I'm a tweaker, and constantly: experimental guitarist since 1976.
      Oh hell ENJOY IT ALL, you only live once or twice...
      Cheers

      Remarkable--very deep pedal, as the instructions state. I got one used, it's one of a kind. Will take some time to fully explore, but what complex tones! Try one; try to get one used (cheaper). Once I input my personal sound and place delay/looper after it...whoa: another world man.. Good luck

    The Best Sounding Multi-Effects Pedal played by The Best Most Awesome TH-cam Tyler.

  • @Clambelly
    @Clambelly 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Great professional review. Based on numerous TH-cam reviews, Nu-X Cerberus is definitely THE BEST sounding multi-effects board with the most user friendly interface. If I didn't already have dozens of analog pedals, this would be my first choice. For the money, Nu-X is way ahead of the competition. In fact, I don't think there is a multi-effects pedal that comes close with sound quality and simple analog interface. Thanks for the review.

      I agree..and no I dont work them. In fact I hope they build on the Cerberus platform. Its built like a tank, midi, built in boost (on a CC pedal)..tuner...totally authentic sound..at like 300-400 USD? Nothing else gets close. I keep hoping but...nothing yet, as of 5/2020.

  • @tjborekvideo

    I've had a Cerberus for about four months. What makes it win for playing live? (1) No tedious menus to navigate. (2) Analog overdrive and distortion. (3) Preset mode with 112 user preset memory slots. Such a great tool! There is room for improvement: (1) Software UI is a little odd. (2) Distortion suck out too much low end. A full Bass, Middle, Treble tone stack for Distortion would be awesome. (3) Red and green tuner sharp/flat lights are too small to see unless you're standing right over them. On the whole, I agree with Tyler. It's so cool and sounds great.

    • @fagyu7502
      @fagyu7502 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, have you had any solution for the distortion, mine sounds odd as well I've had it for one week and I still am tweaking my distortion and overdrive trying to find a good point where my guitar wouldn't be overly noisy, I found the distortion more noisy and less pinch harmonic friendly than my amp's dist, and the bass is weird as well it feels to me like if it scooped the mids, the bass seems to take the dynamics away of the palm muted notes on the low e string

    I own a lot of different amps, from Line6 Spider Valves to Marshall's and Fenders. I also own top end Line6 effect pedals. I kind of gave up on pedals and actually wish I had kept some of mine because the pricing on those is now astronomical. I kept the Line6 stuff and my Yamaha delays. But, I found NUX. I am the first guy to be very wary of EFX from China (cheeseball comes to mind), but these guys and a couple of others have impressed me. I own the NUX Time Force and the Roctary. First the Roctary. The most sought after Leslie simulator is the Roto-Vibe for guitarists, outside of using a Leslie 122. But they have become extremely pricey and are limited. The Roctary is amazing. It not only simulates the horn section of the Leslie but the bass section. And, when you overdrive a Leslie, you get that cool tube distortion. The Roctary allows you to simulate that overdrive. They put a lot of thought into that pedal and then, on top of it, throw in a polyphonic octave effect. I assume that the Roctary engine is the same one in the modulator section of the Cerebus pedal. (I love that name Cerebus, reminds me of Amon Duul II). The Time Force, another great pedal. Many different delay models, not just a delay, like almost all effects. It gives you tape loop, analog and a few others. It is not noisy but it likes to have batteries for lunch.
    Anyway, this pedal probably does a lot more than most are showing. I find it very versatile and like the patching. Most pedals, in one end, out the other. The ones touting Axe/FX forgot to mention the Kemper. There will always be someone who thinks theirs is the best because they spent a couple of grand to purchase it. But with music, money doesn't always equate to sound and quality. A lot of hit records prove that. Like with guitars. No one wants a Mexican Strat but they play just like an American one (I have a few Strats of both regions) and some Mex Strats sound better. I own an HSS Mex Strat with a locking tremolo. Nice guitar, not cheap either, in price and quality. And Music is Win, thanks for taking the time to demo this.

    KERBEROS (Cerberus) is a mythological creature from greek mythology. It is the gigantic, three-headed hound of Haides which guarded the gates of the underworld and prevented the escape of the shades of the dead.
    Kerberos was depicted as a three-headed dog with a serpent's tail, mane of snakes, and a lion's claws. According to some he had fifty heads although this count may have included the serpents of his mane.

    Really cool, sounds great, and I love where NUX is going with their equipment, but that's technically not a multi-effects pedal - it's 4 discrete pedals stuffed into one box. Multi-effects pedals are units like the Line-6 Helix, Digitech's RP series, Zoom, Headrush, Boss' ME/GT series, etc..

    • @kappachino2569
      @kappachino2569 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I like gear reviews if they are useful for informing my purchasing decisions. One key ingredient in this is that I like to know how things compare to appropriate competitors. I don't care the slightest bit if there's money involved, if it doesn't interfere with this. If a sponsorship means you can't A/B with another product, that's a deal breaker.

    This should read "Best Sounding Multi-Effects pedal" *For The Money* Because not all are created equal. Allow me to clarify. A Boss ME-80 is just dandy sounding for $300. Does it sound better than my Line 6 Helix? No. Of course not. But it is $1200 cheaper and that has a "quality" all it's own.

    • @joesatchton212
      @joesatchton212 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +SixStringLove Guy: Indeed. Excellent clarification. I have tried the NuX - it can and does sound pretty tasty and at the price point IMO needs serious consideration. But like you, I won't be trading in my AX-8 any time soon. :D
      I do think many of these smaller footprint combo units are quite nice - for many more casual situations, the tiny size and modern, generally high quality tones make for a compelling product.
      cheers and good point to note...

      Yep, full IR capabilities. You can load 3rd party IRs, and the stock NUX ones are excellent. Just put a preamp like a Joyo American Sound in the loop between Drive/Dist & Mod/Delay&Verb. It makes a big difference. I gigged with one of these straight to the mixer>PA for over a year & 1/2. Good tones, but I always used my own drive pedals. The ones on the Cerberus are very dark. Everything else is good!! You can go stereo to the mixer, IRs to L/R. The headphone out is also IR-loaded and stereo. Amazing stereo chorus, reverb, and delays.
      The software is very easy to use, just do the firmware upgrade for improved tones & features.

    Hello, That you turn down the volume so quickly when you play with the distortion is telling me that your distortion is very noisy. You should have shown the floor noise generated by the distortion, that is very important for all guitarists from live to the same as the delay time when changing from one preset to another. Thanks anyway, but without that data this pedalboard is useless to me.

    Not long after I went electric, I knew I needed 3-4 basic effects to emulate different styles. This would be perfect for that situation. However, if you play in a very controlled setting (i.e. church gig, theater pit band) a patch based multi-effects pedal/processor might be a more practical option for a similar expense. Am I right that this is not well suited to DI to a board?

      It actually is. It has an IRloader that is perfect for going into a board.

    Pedal has lots of function, but is lacking in clarity. Kind of a haze over everything IMO, and that haze isn't purple.

    Great video and your sound mike picked up everything perfectly. In this modern day and age why are we still seeing such primitive gear coming out that is old with new labels on them. Loud clicking noices on pedal buttons and same ole same ole effects we had almost 40 years ago that have hardly changed. Depressing.

      Maybe after all this time, these effects are still relevant ? Of course there are tons of boutique pedals out there with way more possibilities and options than this but also better build quality and way more expensive. As far as an affordable basic multi-effect pedal goes, this is not bad at all. A very creative tool imo

      Tell you what......Earlier this year, I bought a Boss Katana 100/212 and the damn thing sounds *Amazing* !!! I just recorded it for the first time and was *Shocked* by how Awesome it came out!!! You get access to over 50 Boss pedals, so it saves you from needing any other basic pedals....Plus, it just sounds GREAT!!! The only TC Helicon pedal I have is a Voicelive 2......that thing is Really just Insanely Excellent!! Got it bc it has *Studio Quality* vocal processing/effects and pitch correction, as well as multi-part vocal Harmonies that actually sound Natural and studio quality.....PLUS, it is made to also be used Live, which most studio quality effects are NOT made to do!!! Besides those two companies, I have a Digitech *Trio Plus* which is VERY impressive!!!

      Many years ago, Zoom stuff used to be a joke.....like even bad for cheap stuff. But now, people give their stuff good reviews, so maybe they make better quality gear now. I did buy a Zoom R24 (for mobile on-location recording) and I was surprised at how many features it has and how decent it is for such an affordable device. I am an engineer, but NOT a "gear snob" at all.....In fact, I LOVE cheap gear that is Good Quality and usable in the studio
