Airbrushing using a silk screen to prevent underspray

have you tried using stencils made of pellon (the kind used in sewing)? pellon is absorbent and would likely prevent under spray. We use heavy pellon for stencils when airbrushing t shirts.

Have you tried this with the royal icing? How long do you think the silk will last before it would need replacing?
