I’m a bilingual baby with parents of 2 different nationalities and I can honestly say it’s the biggest gift in the world she’ll so appreciate all the hard work you guys put in with Spanish if you choose too! Definitely difficult but 100% worth it ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Heyy it’s amazing that you were raised that way. I’m working on my university tesis about that topic and I would love to interview you for my experiment, let me know if you would be interested! Thank you in advance! 🙏🏻
Note for Jess & Gabe: One of the best ways to do this when you yourrself have limited spanish knowledge is to have her watch kids shows exclusively (or almost exclusively) in Spanish! Whenever she starts with that type of thing, make that her time to learn spanish. Then hopefully you're giving yourself a few years to get better at spanish yourselves.
I had a baby boy a day before Jess had her daughter and my husband and I are planning to raise him implementing both of our languages! He is Colombian so Spanish from his side (I can also speak Spanish) and I'm Croatian so croatian from my side. Hope it goes well and little Santiago can handle it all, with English included hahah
Babies don't remember having their diapers changed or being fed, but moms DO remember how *they* were taken care of during those first months with a newborn (and beyond, let's be honest). Gabe, it sounds like you're already doing a good job of making sure Jess's most basic needs are met, but it can't be reiterated enough. Keep an eye on Jess, take mental notes, and flat-out ask her: Are you eating enough? Sleeping enough? Is she regularly showering, able to go to the bathroom ALONE...just simply getting enough brief moments to herself throughout the day to make sure her needs are met? Neither parent should ever lose these little freedoms and moments of sanity/alone time/recharging. Like you both said, teamwork is the utmost important part of both marriage AND parenting. If you love and take care of each other first, caring for your daughter will come more easily and naturally...as will bonding with your daughter, since freeing your partner from parenting duties affords more alone time with your child.
I just love how Gabe is expressing himself about all this, he's such an involved partner. That's a blessing to you both, love you so much guys, big up Jess.
I remember randomly scrolling through TH-cam and seeing a video of when Gabe suprised Jess in Australia when they were in long distance to now. I have seen them go together through this journey and now Makaiah being here is such a blessing even as a fan being a part of this means a lot 💗
I was thinking about this!! I’ve watched them since my freshman year of high school, which was 2014/2015… I remember watching them getting married and crying when watching, then going through their houses and residency for Jess. 🥺 Seen it all, man. I love them 💜
I love how Gabe said he didn't want to complain. Being a parent is so hard, and even though you love the baby with your whole heart, it's only human nature to complain sometimes. That doesn't make you selfish or negative, I think it can be healthy from time to time to express all your feelings, whether good OR bad. But that's so sweet that he doesn't want to take any second for granted. What a sweet couple, love you both
As someone who is now in my own long distance relationship from Aus to the US and having watched your content for years now it is so beautiful to see where your journey has taken you ♥
I love how aware you guys are working towards this marriage and this growing family. Many couples sleepwalk the entire time and wander off the purpose of being together. ❤️
Gabe is such a smart positive thinker… He knows he can’t do as much as Jess can for the baby but he helps her and the whole “trying to adjust to each other’s routines” thing… SO nice! Book made me cry… they’re perfect 🤍🤍
The dedication almost put me to tears and like someone else said you can tell Jess really loves you by the way she looks at you Gabe congrats on everything and ofcourse your beautiful baby girl🥰
I don't know why but I was smiling throughout the video. The fact that you both are parents to little makaia makes my heart all warm and gooyey. Love you guys
Her eye colour had a 50:50 chance of being brown or blue because Gabes father had green eyes, he has one Brown(dominant) and one green (recessive) gene. The scale is brown most dominant, then blue then green. So Gabe likely gave her his green gene and Jess her blue gene which blue dominates over green :)
I'm sorry but that's not true. Eye colour is not determined by a single gene and is not controlled by Mendellian Inheritance. If you do a quick Google you'll find this! That's a really simplified way to explain inheritance but it's not actually how it works in the real world with most traits. You were probably taught that as an example :) From the National Library of Medicine: Genes with reported roles in eye color include ASIP, IRF4, SLC24A4, SLC24A5, SLC45A2, TPCN2, TYR, and TYRP1. The effects of these genes likely combine with those of OCA2 and HERC2 to produce a continuum of eye colors in different people.
@Hazel Allison The original answer isn't actually scientifically correct - eye colour is controlled by multiple genetics so it's not as simple as mendellian inheritance. My dad has brown eyes and my mum has hazel eyes, I have green and my sister has blue if that slightly answers your question.
I had to have a C-section bc my son wouldn’t dilate past 9 cm and I literally walked a mile 4 days after he was born. Lol postpartum was hard for me for about 4 months. I definitely had the baby blues but then I felt myself getting back to normal. And my son slept 8 hours for the first time around 3 months and by 4.5 months he was sleeping through the night mostly! He usually sleeps 10 hours now with minimal night wakings. We are very blessed!
Wow, never have I ever clicked on a video this fast in my life before 🤭😅 I just wanna know all about your post birth experience. Super interesting. Especially hearing Gabe's experience through this as well. Ok...now I'll start watching 👀 😆
I'll always be so happy to hear your journey, thoughts, changes, and life chapters. Congratulations again and I'm really glad that you both are safe and healthy.
My family gifted our grandparents Storyworth last Christmas and it was such a cool way to learn about their lives and history. Each week they would get a prompt (random, or a specific question we were curious about) and at the end of the year, all the stories are collected and printed into a physical book. 10/10 recommend if you’re interested in recording family histories!
We have close family friends whose grandparents live with them. Each time that they are all together at one time, they have dinner together and have a sit down to allow the kids to ask the grandparents questions about anything. Whether that be a part of their lives, something they learned from. Etc. and the grandparents have an opportunity to do the same with the kiddos. It was a really cool opportunity to be a part of and I hope to do the same with my family
Showering and eating breakfast is so huge in the early days of Post Partum. It's soo hard for moms to do but if makes a big difference if a partner or family member helps you do it. So glad you guys worked out that agreement ♥
it still hasn't sunk in that yall are parents, i still cant process it...so strange but so wonderful seeing that baby car seat at the back! love you guys sm❤️❤️
It was a shock for me too😂 Me and my husband read a lot and felt prepared, but when my first came into the world we forgot everything we had read... Just had to figure it out and learn on our own. We have three now and we're still learning something new about babies😅
Do you have any tips for having three? I am pregnant with my third baby and although we definitely prayed for this pregnancy I am still so scared on how we will manage with three. Everyone keeps talking about how it's way harder to have odd numbers and it's freaking me out.
omg make her bilingual if u can!!! lots of my friends parents speak different languages and didn’t teach them and now they’re so annoyed because it’s such a valuable skill! xx
You guys are doing the absolute best you can, be easy on yourselves, you don't need to know it all just enjoy this precious time in your life and let go of any worry, be patient everything is the way it should be God bless ♡
Pre ordered his book for delivery the day it drops and when I tell you on October 18 no one will see or hear from me until the book is finished ✋🏼 very proud of you Gab can't wait to read it

I just want to say, I downloaded the preview of your book…..and I’m in tears, specially since I’ve been struggling lately. So Thank you for this really… I can’t wait for the rest.
O my goodness, I was literally watching your guys old vlogs right when you posted this, you both show so much light in the darkness and I’m so happy that God has given you a little girl, I hope y’all stay safe and God bless! ❤

Ladies pregnancy pillows are really life changing idk why they made for pregnant women because while i am pregnant right now me and my husband each have one and have for years he is a roofer i had a brain malformation where i would wake up stiff all over my body and those were a game changer . Glad to see this new chapter of your life guys
Just a appreciation message to say thank you for hearing us with the doona seat and getting a new one while in Aus xx awesome work guys, car safety is so so important 🥰💗
You 2 are so sweet. Gabe is soooooo right about living in the right time. My cousin had her daughter 23 years ago. She was in labor for almost 24 hours and her daughter was not moving down the birth canal. They had to do an emergency c-section. The doctor told her and her husband that there was a time not too long ago that my cousin and her daughter would have died in child birth. Thank God for modern medicine!💗
Jess and Gabriel ❤ Congratulations on becoming parents! Your daughter is absolutely precious and beautiful. As you step into this new season of your lives, may the Lord bless you with unconditional happiness, laughter and magical moments. Thank you so much for sharing your new journey and your sweet girl with all of us. xx
been here since you guys were in a long distance relationship and it’s been amazing to follow along on your journey! Congrats again on becoming parents Makaiah is beautiful ❤️
It’s such a joy watching you become parents, especially being a long time subscriber 🥹💛 I just know you two are going to be the best and sweetest parents, Makaiah is so lucky 🥰 and congrats Gabe for your book, I can’t wait to read it!🙌🏻
So her name. I've read through the Bible several times, but have absolutely no recognition of Makaiah being in the Bible...!! So when you mentioned that it was biblical I kinda got really excited because I love biblical meanings. Her name is beautiful. Praying she will live into God's full destiny for her.
Gabe your Spanish is great!! Keep practicing it. If you find a movie watch it in Spanish. My daughter learned Spanish first too but after she started school she is struggling with it. But my son speaks both. She does understand it but I want her to speak it more. I preordered your book in audible so can’t wait to hear it! Love you guys!!! And so glad birth went well and baby Makaiah is here
Congratulations on your book Gabe😇. You and Jess are a true inspiration and power couple 💑 my favourite couple, now family on the internet. God bless you guys🙏🏼
Hearing Gabe talk about how difficult it is for him that Makaia wakes up once in the middle of the night, while my one year old didn’t sleep at all until he was 4 months old, still wakes up at least twice every night even now and until just a couple of months ago he would wake from 3-5 times… 😩 I understand how difficult it is when you used to be able to sleep a full night without waking up even once to feed a baby, but it still hurts so much when you see people who have something you have cried and prayed for so much not realise how good they have it 🥺 Having said that, I know that’s how life is and there are people who would cry and pray to have what I do, so I know we all need to count our blessings every day 🤲🏼 It’s just so incredibly hard and I pray for everyone out there who is struggling with parenthood - may God make it easy on all of us 🌷
Y'all... your sleep situation is so lucky! My almost one year old (birthday in 2 days 🥺❤️) has always gotten up more than once in the night (has only "slept through the night" one time ever two weeks ago 🤪)... I pray for you that Makaiah continues being a good sleeper, even through teething, big growth spurts, etc. Because sleep deprivation is no joke 🙃
We're raising our one year old in a three language household. She'll probably start speaking a bit later but the benefits she'll gain out of is amazing.
I’m a bilingual baby with parents of 2 different nationalities and I can honestly say it’s the biggest gift in the world she’ll so appreciate all the hard work you guys put in with Spanish if you choose too! Definitely difficult but 100% worth it ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I am 100% bilingual. Afrikaans & English. I am from South Africa🇿🇦, and here everyone has to speak at least two languages.

I pray for you that Makaiah continues being a good sleeper, even through teething, big growth spurts, etc. Because sleep deprivation is no joke 🙃
Am so proud of you guys , much love from Kenya 🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪
Hiya Mum & Dad! Hope you're both well 😊😊
Just got my 8 week old down to sleep, im meant to be sleeping but saw this. Couldn't wait until the morning ❤️
Aww that book dedication was so lovely. And yes, you have the audio book voice down.
I just read 1 Kings 22 with Micaiah the prophet this morning. Such a bold, amazing example!
best way to wake up is to a jess&gabe vlog
IM SO EXCITED FOR THE BOOK GABE!!! and it’s great to see how you and Gabe are doing so far? 🤍 Love you guys

Jess, you look so pretty! Your sweater really makes your eyes pop!
We're raising our one year old in a three language household. She'll probably start speaking a bit later but the benefits she'll gain out of is amazing.
