Imagine a a ship in the distance fading in from the fog. A old ship thought to be lost at sea lost to the waves and you hear the singing of the ghostly crew and the captain and they arrive wanting to reclaim their lost honor and treasure that was wrongfully stolen from them. Chills. Literal chills.
A powerfull voice breaks the ominous silence "Man the ballistas, aim the canons and wait for my signal, that ship will bring nothing but pain if it touches land". As soon as the order is given, the full port becomes a mess of noisy steps, creaking gears, moving creates and battle formation standing. The tension is noticable and the fear is palpable as the ghostly vessel comes into range, "Fire!!" the awaited signal breaks the tension, soon followed by the sound of fired canonballs and iron bolts that rained on the menace.
I love these comments, the imagery... it... idk what its making me feel or see.

Anyone who dares steal their riches gets cursed.” The captain then looks at their gold and recognized the curse symbol, he then speaks "Well men, their are some fates even worse then death." Moments later the ship has sunk and they soon join the ranks of the cursed .Forever bound to the sea.
Through the ages, the human brain had an incredible defense mechanism to make sure the mind doesn't brake when subjected to overwhelming experiences, which is why we saw monsters in the oceans, gods in the mountains and demons in the people.
Or what about this. What if they were real and we drew/wrote what we saw.

I’m running a d&d campaign in a custom setting I made that is basically ww1 & ww2 if they had a baby that learned magic. And I even made custom guns and class options ex: barbarians get a trench gun along their normal starting equipment, the trench gun acts Sumatra to burning hands but with it does piercing damage and has a set dc of 15. And this song makes me want to have them fight a bunch of kraken cultists that have hijacked a battleship.

Listening to this song, I imagine a ship in the middle of the a storm at night. One of the crewmen yells and points to something in night after a lightning flash, and with the next flash, the rest of the crew can see it. All around are giants wadding waist deep in the water, completely oblivious. The captain pales as he realizes the giants are legendary pirates and sailors, their souls bound and damned to wander the oceans in their death as they had wandered in life.

Imagine an army slowly marching towards their enemies holding long spikes with their flags a top, hot fires burning behind the marching army
A ship bursts from the briney depths. Sea water spews from each crack and hole that forms the ancient hull. Masts tattered, coated in green agae that flows with the wind. Barnacles and coral cling tightly to every surface, as the crew emerges. Some are so bloated they look ready to pop, others are little more than bones with whisps of cyan light weaving them together. The decayed captain, coat drenched and strewn with sea life, barks orders as this floating wreck dredges itself toward your ship. A low chanting can be heard, barely audible amount the crashing waves and stinging rain. As it grows in pitch, so do the number of undead pirates, until the ghost ship is shining with blue light.
"Gentlemen, ready the guns, and drink one cup of rum, for it may be our last."
A villain kills the lead protagonist and leaves them. As the protagonist is found by his allies, multiple ships appear with hundreds of men singing this song paying tribute to their fallen comrade and looking for revenge on the villain. That would be sick with this song I think

Im a fantasy nerd and this is how i picture it in my head.
A group of adventurers are sailing out to where numerous pirate ships have all gone missing, its a enormus cave tucked into the side of a cliff facing the sea. A thick rolling low hanging fog floats over the water, they start heading into the cave deeper when a apperation of a man starts singing at the top of the crows nest, dressed in pirate attire with a lute; (the first singer), shortly after a larger bearded man appears at the helm of the ship slowly pacing around (the deep voiced man), slowly apperations of ships and sailors start to appear out of the mist, slowly they are surrounded by hordes of ships, some old and some newer, all sailing to the same place to meet the same fate.

While they’re monologuing about his immanent victory you use you’re last ounce of strenght left in you to destroy the artifact binding the Villains contract and consequently his soul.
You hear them scream out in desperation as in the background one begins hearing ominous chanting, somethings coming to claim it’s rightfully owned soul...
The villain is draged underneath the earth as the chanting becomes louder, until they dissapear and the singing stops.
Reminds me of Dr Facilier in The Princess and the Frog.

By the way, they were level 11 and they shouldn't have been following the map in the first place, but they did and encountered the CR 28 Ageless Hafgufa

@@justluxx2066 basically they were to _run_ . Their ship moved faster than the beast, as the beast swam at a very slow pace but was classified as the largest size, being around 100 feet from tail to horned head, so yeah, very, very scary battle. The Hafgufa made the boat go through difficult terrain.
At the very least they survived. They soon had most of their gang killed off by an Ancient Leshen, which compared to the elder god of the sea they had encountered a month prior ingame, was a fucking joke

Beneath the Sea, shrouded by fog and Dense mists a ghost ship comes out, it's ghostly capatin and crew cursed the Sea and in return was cursed by It, they sing waiting for their freedom, they Sing for their souls cursed to Wander the seas for all eternity
the captain of the small cruiser gazed at the wave crest as it began to peak like the mountains of his home in Tennessee. Thunder illuminating the furious waters around his vessel. Slowly, yet stoically he leaned into the microphone of the ship so all sailors heard his low yet rumbling voice above the groaning and whaling of the ships steel hull. "yo ho all hands hoist the colors high" he sang. Withing moments his fellow seaman began to sing along line by line, all in understanding of there impending doom. The flag was raised, guns loaded, and the men prepared to depart into the unknown realm of Davey Jones.

The ship had been sailing through the sunless fog for days now. No end in sight, anywhere. Just fog, cold, wet air, and murky ocean beneath thee great ship. The crew's morale was down, and without their hard work, the ship would never make it out in time.
The captain stood at the top deck, leaning over the fence, watching the endless fog roll by slowly as he began a slow, deep chant that he was taught as a young boy. One of the crewmates, who happened to be near, also picked up the chant. Then another. And another. And another, until the whole crew was chanting the ancient, powerful lyrics. They began performing their daily tasks as usual but to the strong, powerful rhythm of the song.
Before long, the captain could see a little light peeking through the fog. He began chanting louder, and with him so did the crew. As the words increased in power and volume, the ship chugged along, faster, and by the end of the chant, the ship's prow broke into the light and the crew was free from the blinding white of the fog.
The craw: the light hah the light I can see the light hahah were free at least hahah I can see the light again and the blue sky I miss the blue sky thank you god were free

I like to think the beast is singing the song and when it gets to the "yo, ho" part, more of them slowly appear one by one adding to the chorus until there's ten of them singing the song and razing the land below their feet!

I got legitimate goosebumbs while listening to this. I thought I'd never find a song that could evoke this feeling in me.
Far past the coastline, a rowboat ebbs with the waves. After cresting the last wave the men on board see a ginormous pirate, singing an old working song. Each step he takes creating waves higher than the last, as he finishes the last verse, a chorus joins in, revealing many more pirates, along with their old mates, slowly rising in size.
Imagine a ship with no one on it, in the fog and it suddenly turns to your way and the fog get thicker then it disappeared

Listening to this and thinking about literally anything is legit terrifying
Imagine you’re a guard watching the horizon at dawn, there for the sole purpose to alert everyone of anything ship passing by. Now imagine seeing a few sails coming over the horizon, those few sails turning into hundreds of sails covering the horizon, the closer they got the louder the chant became. After alerting the rest of the men at the outpost and getting them ready for battle. Explosions coming from the ships, cannon balls falling from the sky endlessly. An all out war, a Slaughter.

This is literally so awesome, one of my favorite songs, thank you so much for this. It paints such a vivid picture of a broken crew singing and working in unison as they sail for the final time straight into a storm, better to let the sea take what is hers then let the crown have his revenge. 0:01-0:40 a haggard captain looks over his ship as they sail into the storm. He and some of the crew are singing this verse. 0:41, an incredible choir of voices echoes through everything, coming from the sea, the sky, the ship itself, reflected in the strain of the wood and rhythmed by the flapping of the sails. These voices continue the song, and soon the crew joins in the chorus that beckons them to their final rest. As the waves rise, so do the voices. And as the ship sinks, the crew joins the song for eternity.
Had to play this as my fiance and I were going to our hotel room in Biloxi as a storm was coming in on off the gulf of Mexico at night. It was worth it lol
Whenever I listen to this I image a cannon battle in a Stormy night but the ship does not receive any blows they're shooting at something but first all you can see is a silhouette of a monstrous anomaly and as the storm on the dark night shoots off another crack of lightning it is visible as you are standing completely still in the Crows nest watching this sea monster move closer then it swings and shatters the ship and let's out a spine tightening yell all you can do now is except the fact that this is it and as you fall to the deep black water we're so many have been claimed you recap all the good things that have happened in life and close your eyes

As a us NAVY submariner, anytime I hear this I get goosebumps.
Standing as lookout in the sail as we head out on deployment and you see the nastiness of the ocean ahead. Leaving Pearl Harbor is beautiful. You look around and say goodbye to Hawai’i for 6 months. All around is water, it’s beautiful, but dangerous. Everything is an unknown.
You take those last fresh air breaths, finish the cigars, button the boat up and submerge.
And we go do what we are trained to do.
