I work behind behind the scenes, helping the designers, wardrobe crew, and actors find comfortable, proper undergarments to support the clothes and costumes. It ain't easy to make so many people happy to achieve one mutually satisfying outcome, and then the audience, to boot!
amazing htat in this day of machine/factory made clothes they still take the time to hand make all of these costumes and be ready to fix anything at a moments notice. Not and easy task! Thanks from theater fans everywhere :)
@iheartwicked91 yes it is. believe it or not they don't actully destroy the costumes when an actor leaves the role. they send those costumes back to the costume shop in NY where they came from in case another person fits that costume.
This question is addressed to "OfficialWicked" When an actor reprises their role in another production, do they wear the same costumes they wore during their run in another production, or are they new ones?
It depends. In a show that’s run as long as Wicked, they have a back stock of costumes. (And Felicia Ricci mentions it in her book “Unnaturally Green”). I think it’s more likely addressed on a case by case basis. But I’d imagine maybe the most expensive costumes are made for a new lead and then when they leave the show, held in storage, and repaired, refurbished and altered for an understudy or standby.
Please dont release on DVD!! Musical theatre is the best when seen on stage!! Movies ruin the magic and creativity of seeing it live!! I would be very disapointed if it came out on DVD!!!
Jonathan Wiggins there will still be that option come 2019 but for those of us who will never be able to see it live that will be the only chance they ever get

is the Wardrobe dept (this video) all located in the Gershwin? the costumes are incredible! one of my favorite things about the musical!
Amazing. Just simply amazing.
PLEAAAAASE RELEASE IT ON DVD!
So interesting. Great Video.
There is currently no news on a WICKED movie.
@disneydanny2 But there are people like me who would buy the DVD and still go see the show! Nothing beats live! They should know that! lol
My Aunt Julie works in the costume department!
Freckella says one of the few people who can afford to see it live😒
@FaeTennant There's another video I think that mentions that. They have washing machines and such in the theater, I think.
@megamormonman3212 THAT'S WHAT I'M WAITING FOR AS WELL!!!!
@megamormonman3212 supposedly making a movie of it that is supposed to come out in 2014...

Cameron Corcoran I'm not from Wicked, but I imagine they would make new costumes, because the actor's body could have changed in between show runs
