    Got to say this particular guided lesson is STILL one of the best ever produced by Open Studio. THIS is the “bobbing and bopping” over the changes” material, direction and swinging groove that we aspiring bob piano players need and consider to be the mother’s milk of fruitful shedding. Keep at it.

    I'm so glad I watched this video. I've had it for a month on my phone and frankly was a bit Leary of watching because I'm one of those fairly new to jazz and terrified by bebop. I'm studying the saxophone but also jazz piano as I find the piano helpful when learning the theory. I confess I have found a lot of your videos too advanced for me and had almost discounted them as helpful. This video lesson is great. I think you broke it down to a very understandable level and have renewed my hope of understanding and playing bebop. Thank you.

    3:17 - Be Bop Deploy! That's that third 'tactic' you play on the intro of that great episode! Thanks for the great channel, I'm a guitar player, can't usually do the guided practice sesh when it goes on the live stream but I can always go back, slow down when necessary and extract tons of great stuff, thanks for sharing!

    Hey Adam! This is the gift that keeps on giving! 🙏🏽 I noticed during a 1 measure “2-5”, the enclosure takes the place of the dominant chord… Is this typical? Is this sort of a way to capture some altered sounds over the dominant using your choice of enclosure heading to any chord tone of the 1 in the next measure? Seems to create lines that are sometimes in the diatonic dominant chord, then other times in an altered dominant sound…. Even though I’m not thinking of the dominant chord right then… “broken chord on the 2 minor then enclosure to the 1”

    So bebob is basically doing Ostinados approaching target chord note.

    • @camilovsky227
      @camilovsky227 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      "Enclosure is simply approaching a target note from above and below either diatonically or chromatically". According ro Brent Vaarstra from Learn jazz standards.
