Great demo - perfect explanatory chat(no bs like other channels), clear sonic examples, and showing what you’re changing on the knobs as you’re doing it.

I couldn't afford a big muff 20 years ago, so I built my own. Definitely not an easy pedal build but hours of fun playing. The four stage transistors are the go with loads of saturation. Great for Tumbleweed type tones and splattered all over 90's grunge records.
That being said, the rufus does sound good.

Great demo. Covered lots of useful, practical ground. Thanks!

Picking up one of the Suhrs to use with an MS-3, just how you mention in the video.

While I still believe demos for fuzz should use famous fuzz licks for demonstrations that give listeners something to relate to as sort of a "control group" sound for how the fuzz they're hearing compares, I have to compliment you on two aspects of your presentation as compared to other demos I've seen. 1) You played on both the lower and higher strings to demonstrate the sounds in each area. For whatever reason, that's not done much, and for my money, while fuzz can certainly be used for leads (why not play Hendrix's "Fire" lead for a demo?), many of the classic fuzz parts were done on the lower strings. 2) You used the neck pickup for the demos, which is where fuzz boxes show their stuff, for the most part. So many demos use the bridge pickup for fuzz demos where fuzzes simply sound like overdrive or distortion rather than what their true effect is supposed to be. To get that "true" thick fuzz sound, you have to use the neck pickup, which you did. Thank you! Lastly, in my experience fuzz boxes work better with non-single coil pickups, which makes them more beefy. Again, for whatever reason, too many fuzz demos will use strats on the bridge pickup, which doesn't really give much of an idea what the box can actually do. Don't know what kind of single coils are in your demo guitar, but they managed to manifest the fuzz sounds very well. All in all, a very enjoyable and useful demonstration. Thanks Guys!

I have the Suhr and it’s great. My only complaint is that it has low voltage protection that automatically goes into bypass when the voltage drops below a certain level, so you cant do the flat-battery trick.

Love me some "Vanilla" all day long. The Flatiron is the Fuzzphobic's dream boat with a Rat flavor, figuratively speaking, of course.
