Excellent presentation on Semmangudi Mama; Wonderful insights into his depth of music and the man by Sri Shriramkumar. That notwithstanding, I personally think the following points could have been also emphasized a bit more: 1. His Stellar and unmatched role in rendering to music and/or popularizing Maharaja Swathi Thirunal Compositions and his superlative repertoire of the Maharaja's kritis. (Bhavayami Raghuram - the Ramayana song of Sri Swathi Thirunal which was originally sung entirely in Saveri was set to tune as a Ragamalika of 7 Ragas by none other than Semmangudi Mama) 2. His Extensive (& emotive) treatment of Kharaharapriya Ragam - not done by even many other stalwarts - to this day, Semmangudi Mama's Kharaharapriya is the hallmark for the Ragam, IMHO. [Whenever I felt down, listening to his Kharaharapriya never failed to lift me up!] 3. His extensively bhava laden rendering of Subhapantuvarali Ragam - which is also unmatched and which has been emulated /imitated by others.
