@carito goitia. movies make an impact on us depending on which generational timeframe they are released. I had movies like 2001 a space odyssey, jaws, star wars, close encounters of the third kind, saturday night fever, enter the dragon....which had memorable music that enhanced the films they were made for. So, I loved the 80’s, as well as all the decades. It’s just a matter of perspective. Thanks for being a fan and for your comment

Thank you Tomasz. So many people have experienced the Snake and I was wondering what you were talking about. Depending on when you first viewed this, the special effects weren't up to todays standards, but it gave the movie an edginess and it still is watchable
Today's standards are cold, but the jet flight into Manhattan was stiff in Carpenter's version. Considering films like Marvel's Universe, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter wouldn't have been as popular with tech from the 80's. It's the lighting, camera work, and music that kept EFNY going
Instead of waiting for it, why not create your own version and make a small fortune? I can't think of any reasons why it wouldn't be a hit. Who wouldn't want to assume the Snake persona and do some damage?
As you will learn, there's no time like right now. Why limit yourself by saying you're a teen? It seems possible, my dreams mix with reality.

This guy is a legend, a good deep heart, you can just tell, we'll i can, and he's put his vision into sound and film, very interesting into a possible future
So simple yet so tonically rich..great composition! - John and Alan did a superb job putting this together. I was a young bloke when this movie came out, I remember clocking off early with a colleague to catch an afternoon session down at the Hoyts Movie Complex on George St Sydney back when it was released. Non Stop entertainment...great movie !!
I give John a lot of credit for a very good and memorable theme and sound track, all on top of writing and directing a great action flick. A lot of great keyboard driven sound tracks around this time. Remember we had Vangelis, Tangerine dream, would come along with Risky Business, Jan Hammer was doing his thing as well.
John did his thing with a techno sound. Tangerine Dream was a spillover from Yes, most notable for their music in Legend with a young Tom Cruise. Jan is synonymous with Miami Vice and played a lot in the shows popularity. I didn’t realize Vangelis had scored the films he did. I remember him from Chariots of Fire. Thank you for a trip down memory lane
I'm just hoping we never see a mash-up. Ripley wouldn't be good as a snake and I don't like the idea of an alien as A #1. Thank you for your comment and liking two great films. Best of the Holiday Season to you 🧑🏻🎄🎄⛄🍾🥂

He didn't, he has a paralyzed iris due to poison gas after his helmet cracked during a battle in WW3. He wears the patch due to extreme light sensitivity.
I love all the little details and worldbuilding that the novel adaptation added to this story: Shedding light on exactly what happened at Leningrad and why Snake is so bitter (also because his eye is in near-constant pain from the gas attack), and explaining that the rise in violent crime nationwide was a result of all the chemical weapons in the war turning civilian populations insane
Unfortunately there's nowhere in the world that is safe from it. Hopefully there will be a cure within a year and there will be enough of us standing to appreciate it. Otherwise I'll take my Corona with a wedge of lemon.
No one could ever replace the great Isaac Hayes, playing the Duke of New York, but i think, that Will SMith could play a quit creepy Duke of New York, in the reboot of this movie. He as been playing to many good guys for so long. If he is not, maybe Mike Tyson. For Snake, maybe the Kurt Russel´s son, or Karl Urban. =)
I agree that Idris Elba would make an excellent Duke. There are plenty of actors who could play the part such as Lawrence Fishburn, Common, Denzel, Forest Whitaker, to name a few. The catch is we know what happened to the Duke. So what rolls in to take it’s place?
Even by today's standards of computer generated images, the post apocalyptic city scapes, the larger than life characters and the great music keep this movie relavent. Although you were born after this movie was released, I'm glad you were able to appreciate the work of the cast and John Carpenter. Thank you for your comment
That's true and it's hard to picture another actor in that role. I guess this is a case for AI to step in and continue the man, the myth, the legend, the snake. Now if we could come up with a decent script....maybe another reason to use AI

I understand the movie was created before you were born so you wouldn’t be motivated to see it. Why your brother and father would steer you to EFLA instead of EFNY has me scratching my head? EFNY has been on tv so many times during the years and now that you know about it, you will find yourself gravitating to it just for the multiple one liners that made it enjoyable. Also how close the actions of the Presidents of both Escapes resemble the last leader of the U.S.. The Thing is a better movie choice, but They Live was entertaining too. Have fun 👍🏼🤙🏼🤜🏼🤛🏻✌🏻
@@lenardodivinci I see I do draw myself to older movie tho plus I watch videos of reviews before I see them and it does help cause almost every reviews I watch on movies from like the 80s and stuff all claim them to be good. well I enjoyed this movie alot it was well written I did expected more action but that's okay I wasn't disappointed I loved the concept and everything, thanks 🤙🏼🤘🏼
@samuel rivera. That’s what viewers of movies today expect. More action, more stimulus, stories are secondary to the sensory overload. Also, the cost to do stunts back in the day cost more and could be very dangerous to the performers. CGI has changed the game. Not that it’s cheap, but getting people to fly, web sling, stretch their bodies, ect., ect...would be impossible or much harder with pre-computer technology. Our minds want that next fix. So to ask you to view older films where stories moved the action can be difficult. Of the stuff you’ve seen, I hope you get some entertainment. Thank you for your responses.
There are things about EFNY that could have been done better, but there was an edge in the music and film that lent to the darkness of a post apocalyptic world. The LA version felt thrown together to put money in somebody's pocket. Thank you for your comment and being a fan

You're Duke of New York, you're A-number 1!
Got to love the steak sauce and the guys from Hazzard. Have a great Xmas
Saw it on video in 82. Loved it then, love it now!
Me and brother loved this film and sound track, my brother passed away in 97 at the age of 28, he said carpenter's videos where the best, and i have to agree
That's a shame that your brother passed at such a young age. It's nice that you and he were able to share a great film like Escape From New York and you have that memory to remember him by. Thank you for your comment
I love the ending especially where Snake is tossing away that cassette tape..he doesn't understand what's on it but somehow he knows it's best to get rid of it.
And less idiots who storm government walls for dictators
👍🏼
IMO this is probably one of the best soundtracks ever 😎😎😎
You’re preaching to the choir.
Hey, you, me and Fresno Bob should listen to this every day
Yes I do and it wasn't pleasant.
You know what they did to Bob?
Lol!!! It's kinda bitter sweet to be out of the loop here, (my own way of doing Social media) but it's freakin hilarious
80's movies were the best ever!!...And sountracks real máster pieces
@carito goitia. movies make an impact on us depending on which generational timeframe they are released. I had movies like 2001 a space odyssey, jaws, star wars, close encounters of the third kind, saturday night fever, enter the dragon....which had memorable music that enhanced the films they were made for. So, I loved the 80’s, as well as all the decades. It’s just a matter of perspective. Thanks for being a fan and for your comment
@@lenardodivinci agree whit that , i love each and one of these films.... every one means a lot for the the fans of that golden decade.... until this days....films and music gave to us a great treasures to remember, i love that films that you have mentioned.....even a lot more as Rain man for example....a lust of gems!!.... thanks to you!

a great classic theme song from one of my favourite movies by John carpenter
A staple for anyone who loves movies from the 80’s
My favorite Carpenter movie and one of my favorite movies of all time!
You have great taste and you're less filling

Such great memories!!!
It would be interesting to hear the good memories part. Thanks for being a fan
@@lenardodivinci watching this All the time with my father. That's the great memories part
Thank you Tomasz. So many people have experienced the Snake and I was wondering what you were talking about. Depending on when you first viewed this, the special effects weren't up to todays standards, but it gave the movie an edginess and it still is watchable
@@lenardodivinci today's standards lack the originality my friend.
The darkness, The solitude.
We will never have another Snake Plisken!!!!
This should be a theme for Detroit
Downriverkid loool smh
Some of the film was filmed in Detroit, I understand...
There was supposed to be Escape From Cleveland and Escape from Earth, if I remember correctly. But Escape From Detroit would be awesome as well.
+Ian Steward What about a escape from Miami?
freedomvigilant1234 actually it was filmed st Louis Missouri they had to hire the national guard to protect them while they were filming
BEST MOVIE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!
We're glad to hear you're a fan. Thank you for your comment.
I'm still waiting for a Escape From New York stealth game.
Instead of waiting for it, why not create your own version and make a small fortune? I can't think of any reasons why it wouldn't be a hit. Who wouldn't want to assume the Snake persona and do some damage?
lenardodivinci I'm only a teen, the type of game I'd like to create would take years of work with a experienced team.
As you will learn, there's no time like right now. Why limit yourself by saying you're a teen? Most of you have a better working knowledge than most programmers of computers so DO instead of hoping someone will make it easy for you. Hopefully you'll find like minded individuals who can help you with your quest
I wish I had my teen years back, wish this is a dream, all of you guys are a preminission in a drem, not real, or yet, or some thing that could happen in a distnant 2016, but reality I am in a deep sleep and it's December 31, 1992 Shortly before the first unsuccecful attack on wold trade center, I am only 11, and me and grandma wil be watching the reports of truck bombs in the tower in garage, in few days. It seems possible, my dreams mix with reality.
"The Divison" - the "Survival" DLC.
A very well made movie. John Carpenter is a genuine genius.
No arguments from the peanut gallery:
Awesome theme, I love this movie. Thanks for uploading.
MiiMungus I'm glad you're a fan of EFNY and it's great soundtrack. It's Carpenter vision with great acting by a wonderful cast that brought it to life. I'm glad you enjoyed my extended cut of this song
So beautiful!
This guy is a legend, a good deep heart, you can just tell, we'll i can, and he's put his vision into sound and film, very interesting into a possible future
Instead of being incarcerated on Manhattan, picture being imprisoned in your homes with threat of a viral death. You’re the Duke, you’re A Number One!

One of my most favorite movies and the soundtrack is bad ass. A Number One!
One of my favorite movies 🎥 🍿(This is a native New Yorker)
For a movie that was shot on a budget, this movie has held up through the years. Thank you for being a fan and your comment. Happy Holidays
Thanks for being a long time fan and for sharing your experience with the Snake and Carpenter
Love all of the John Carpenter movies and all of his sound tracks.
We're all glad to hear you're a fan. Thank you for your comment
Aliens and Escape from New York are my two favourite films of all time.
I'm just hoping we never see a mash-up. Ripley wouldn't be good as a snake and I don't like the idea of an alien as A #1. Thank you for your comment and liking two great films. Best of the Holiday Season to you 🧑🏻🎄🎄⛄🍾🥂
Good that Lee Van Cleef got to make one last quality film with a decent budget that respected his legend.
He made a good villain in the good, the bad and the ugly

When it comes to some of the most legendary movie themes of all time, you can't beat this one!
Anyone who’s watched this movie, knows this soundtrack. I feel this was Carpenter’s best
He didn't lose his eye, he has a paralyzed iris due to poison gas after his helmet cracked during a battle in WW3. He wears the patch due to extreme light sensitivity. You're correct - it's in the novel adaptation of the film.
You're correct- the novel adaptation of the film.
Did not know the novel adaptation went into all this great backstory...it's now at the top of my reading list, thanks fellas!
Its a decoy hes fine. He is saving it for 2024
I saw this at the drive-in when it first came out. Loved it ever since.
the new "Escape from Corona" Theme 2020
Unfortunately there's nowhere in the world that is safe from it. Hopefully there will be a cure within a year and there will be enough of us standing to appreciate it. Otherwise I'll take my Corona with a wedge of lemon.
This movie is going to be real in our lifetime at this rate lol
Unfortunately it all starts at the top
@@lenardodivinci and so my Prophecy unfolds...
Flu you, the docs call it a virus, so shut up
This theme is just AMAZING......
It's stood the test of time. I'm glad you enjoyed the brilliance of John Carpenter
They don't write them like that anymore
The Duke is A # 1 !
MexxPowers You are so saucy
No one could ever replace the great Isaac Hayes, playing the Duke of New York, but i think, that Will SMith could play a quit creepy Duke of New York, in the reboot of this movie. He as been playing to many good guys for so long. If he is not, maybe Mike Tyson. For Snake, maybe the Kurt Russel´s son, or Karl Urban. =)
@@fernandoestebanzunigaandra8088 I think Idris Elba would play a better Duke than Will Smith
I agree that Idris Elba would make an excellent Duke. There are plenty of actors who could play the part such as Lawrence Fishburn, Common, Denzel, Forest Whitaker, to name a few. The catch is we know what happened to the Duke. So what rolls in to take it’s place?
this movie came out before i was born but man it is something about this movie and this theme that stays with me.
Even by today's standards of computer generated images, the post apocalyptic city scapes, the larger than life characters and the great music keep this movie relavent. Although you were born after this movie was released, I'm glad you were able to appreciate the work of the cast and John Carpenter. Thank you for your comment
A perfect theme for our present times
"The rules are simple; once you go in, you don't come out."
Sounds like my last doctor visit. Thanks for being a fan of the Snake
Snake Plissken is such an awesome character, it sucks we only got two movies with him.😞
That's true and it's hard to picture another actor in that role. I guess this is a case for AI to step in and continue the man, the myth, the legend, the snake. Now if we could come up with a decent script....maybe another reason to use AI
I just watched this movie again for the first time in a long while, and I forgot how GOOD it was.
John Carpenter has a sense of style with his directing and music that make his work timeless
plissken: we got you out, a lot of people died on the mission, I want to know what you have to say about that? president: well... the country appreciates your sacrifice,,, moments later , snake appears destroying the cassette tape...
A great flick, masterpiece by Carpenter! Great cast, all were well known classics.

Best Soundtrack ever.
It still stands up to present day music scores. Long live Carpenter and the Snake
Along with Top Gun.
That drone at the beginning plays at the start of the film and can be heard off and on throughout. I think it helps add to the dreamlike/hypnotic atmosphere of the film.
Thanks for your comment. Planetofthegapes would have made a much different movie with charlton heston
Man wish we could go back in time and get that Cleveland sequel (prequel) we never got
I'm sure John Carpenter's kicking himself for not using Cleveland in his initial Escape From series.
couple of arp synths and drum set in the bedroom is all that was needed and its glorious
Better Soundtrack of 80's😎👍
2:20 gets Me everytime!!! Great track
This music track make me crazy....I love it

God that awesome electronic beeping that starts at 0:46 sounds so behind me I sometimes think its my phone. I blame my earphones
it goes to show you dont need a massive orchestra to create an epic theme. Great score, great film.
'The name's Plissken' 🐍🎥🤘
Is that Plissken, Snake Plissken? Next, you'll want your martini's stirred not shaken. By the way, I heard you were dead
My dad loved this song and so do I. He died recently and now I love the song more. It's 2017 and I can't get over this song
A lot of us feel the same way. I'm sorry about your father's passing. I lost my mother a few years ago and it's never easy to lose someone you're close to and especially a family member. It's nice to have Carpenter and Snake as a memory you and your Dad both shared. Maybe Cabby and your Dad are driving around listening to Bandstand Boogie.
More real today than in 1982 !
A sad but true statement. Would we be better off to let the Duke have the President and cancel the peace talks?
John Carpenter is by far one of the best composers.
Watching this movie as a kid used to scare me because I thought this was how the future was going to look 😂😂😂 this song used to give me a real futuristic feeling
The scary part Christopher is that a few politicians think this scenario would be preferable to everyone trying to better the country for everyone. Thanks for being a fan and separating the movie from reality
Have you been to Portland, Oregon lately?
@@justinchristoph3725that's the fun part. President's plane in the movie gets taken down by reds. In reality, Portland becomes a wasteland by the reds controlling the city. In a twist of irony, movie NYC becomes a prison as a form of necessity of a police state while real life Portland is a glorified mental ward and open air prison by red activists.
I finally got to watch this movie for the first time this year in 2021 and man instantly when this track hit in the beginning I automatically was vibing with the movie and at the end it was awesome love the ending great movie John carpenter always does great scores 👏🏼🤙🏼
I’m glad you got to appreciate the genius of John Carpenter. I don’t know how it took you this long to get to see EFNY, but welcome aboard. If you haven’t viewed much of Carpenter’s work, I recommend you taking the time. Thank you for your comment
@@lenardodivinci ah thanks man and idk why it took me this long, and when I asked my brother's and my dad if they'd seen this movie they were like not the first one but EFLA and im like how can you see the second one and not the first one lol and they told me about the basketball scene in the second one and they showed me a clip of it which was interesting but after seeing that it still took me years to see this one which I bought yesterday. Also im 21 I was born in 99 im only drawn to these movies because my dad brought us up on classic movies and alot from the 80s and 90s but there was alot that we missed all these years other classic movies. there are alot of other classics that I still haven't seen and yes I do love carpenters work he's really good with his music too I've been meaning to watch They Live and The Thing which I heard were also classic movies of carpenter. Thanks for the comment 👍🏼
You're the Duke of New York A#1
He seems like a decent governor
Idk though I'm not a big fan of politics or politicians
No.2 eas embarrassing. This has no reflection on No.2. This film was amazingly made. So dark and perfection.
There are things about EFNY that could have been done better, but there was an edge in the music and film that lent to the darkness of a post apocalyptic world. The LA version felt thrown together to put money in somebody's pocket. Thank you for your comment and being a fan
