It is good that Carnatik music is also introduced through Raag Abhogi. Very well done keeping the objective and Hindustani music parampara. These series are really very interesting and retain and enrich our Sanskritic music for which we music lovers are very grateful to you.
The Raag Ranjan series is one of THE best programs made. Dr.Date is very objective, always on track and the artists are superb. My respect for our music is boundless especially in the company of such musicians and teachers. Very grateful for the opportunity, many many pranams.
There are so many ragas that are common in shastriya sangeet and carnatic music.. for example hansadhwani abhogi kirwani etc.. so we must cherish the both classical traditions
Abhogi is a perfect raga to have been imported from carnatic considering that this raga basically uses glides even in its carnatic form. Although most ragas on carnatic use oscillations(khampita gamaka) , the creator of this raga saint Shri thyagaraja created three ragas abhogi, sriranjani and jayamanohari which had very close notes but with different microtone usage. Sriranjani has the notes s,r,g,m,d,n,S whereas abhogi has the nishad missing. And shriranjani is based totally on oscillations between the nishad to dhaivat. Hence to give a distinct flavour to abhigi i guess he used the jharu (slide) especially between the d to m(avaroh) and d to g(aaroh) to create a unique raag.
GmRS is being used subtly in this gayaki.. Will we use it in Raga Abhogi, this particular Abhogi Kanada phrase 🙏🙏🙏please enlighten? Venkatesh Prasad ji' s rendition makes a clear distinction between Abhogi and, Abhogi Kanada but i found elsewhere that GmRS is used extensively for plain Abhogi Raga
One of the best Hindustani classical educative program and great presentation also.
Swar rom rom se bahar ata hai, keval kanth se nahi. Bahut sundar

What a wonderful raag Abhogi is! Shri Bhatt illustrates so beautifully. DSRG, MGRS show the raaga elegantly. Lovely midnight mood.

Beautiful presentation of the raag by the entire team.
It's very difficult to sing this Abhogi raag without touching the other raag similar to this like Bhageswari I think.. Master sahab ko dhanyavaad..
Devine Rag. Good narration
Raag abhogi is a carnatic raga and borrowed into hindustani system

This raga feel is very similar to the raga Bageshri.
Sorry...That is different.
There is no NISHAD in Abhogi....I too felt the same
Kalavati matches a lot with abhogi, isn't it?
Very very nice.
@@geetagutti3170 Yes, if u take the madhyam of Abhogi as Shadj and sing, then the scale becomes that of Kalavati raag.
Thoda sa Gorakh kalyan

YOUR SHOW HAS GOOD CONTENT BUT YOUR PRESENTATION LOOKS SO ARTIFICIAL THAT I TURN IT OFF .
