It has been raining incessantly in Hyderabad.On one such rainy Sunday, we stepped into the beautiful interiors of Saptaparni.
I present to you a ghazal with the series
"Sundays at Saptaparni" .
Dil Jalane ki baat karte ho, a ghazal written by Javed Quereshi and popularised by Farida Khanum ji.
My brother kept insisting that i learn and sing this.
Every time I sing it, the beauty of the irony in these lines strikes me -
"saari duniya ki ranjh o gham de kar
muskuraane ki baat karte ho "
You give me all the world's sorrow
yet you talk of smiling.
