Welcome to the Heavy Spoilers show I'm your host Paul and after Daemon said keep my wifes name out your f**king mouth we watched as a great banquet was held by the two families. After a food fight Viserys ended up going to bed where he mistakingly told Alicent Aegons prophecy. Just one problem, she believed that he was actually telling her their son Aegon was the true heir and that he wanted him on the throne.
S**ts about to go down and that takes us into episode 9. The trailer for the entry is now out and throughout this video we're gonna be going through it all frame by frame to talk about what happens in it, the clues for what's coming next and also some of the hidden details that you might have missed.

Ok so the upcoming episode will be called the Green Council and as you can probably guess this involves Alicent trying to place Aegon as the heir.
The phrase Green Council was coined by Grand Maester Munken in the book and the image that accompanies it shows the shady conspirators plotting together. Some on it were still loyal to Rhaenyra and this led to their downfall so the name Green Council is fitting because it shows how much Alicent forced everyone to bend to her will.
In the books the speech with her and Viserys never happened and instead she just did this because she wanted to seize power. However they've given her a reason to here and it makes even more sense as to why she'll stop at nothing to try and carry out her late husbands apparent final wishes.

The recasting of Aegon threw me off in this episode. I thought he was another youngest brother most of the episode and was like "where the hell is Aegon?" i think Ty Tennant already looked old enough to play the "adult" version...

I liked that Alicent was placed on Viserys decaying side. To me that represented the poison that the hightowers seem to be seeping into The Red Keep.
Also I feel like if a time comes when Rhaenyra needs/wants more dragon riders, Laenor will hear and will return. At that point, Rhaenys will know the truth and will be even more committed to Daemon and Rhaenyra.
Laenor can't return without fucking up the story. If he returns then Daemon and rhaenyras marriage is null and their children are bastards. SPOILER ALERT
one of their children becomes king after the dance, so this is unlikely to happen, in the book he is 100% dead.

Rhaenyra should never have left Kings landing. She and Damon should have stuck like Velcro to her fathers side. Then it would have been an easier transition.
Yeah but I think she just wanted to get her children out of King's Landing before any bloodshed happens with Alicent's children.
Then we wouldn’t have had all this beautiful magic to read and watch! These books are full of what ifs and he/she should have done this…usually life altering decisions
I think she was afraid of more confrontations about the boys being Strong’s as well since they are Strong’s and she’s lying.
It's tradition for the Heir Apparent to the Iron Throne to live at Dragonstone. When Daemon took over Dragonstone earlier in the season it was seen as a slight to Rhaenyra since Dragonstone was her seat by right as heir. So while trying to put herself in a place of political power, she left herself open to be usurped by leaving King's Landing.
Yeah given how close Viserys seemed to be to the end, she should have sent the children home and her and Daemon stayed. Jace was old enough to escort his younger siblings along with their household servants.
It's Rhaenys asking Alicent "Have you never imagined yourself on the Iron Throne?". We know this from the trailer for Season 1 HOTD.

It might be off topic, but I really need to get this off my chest. So, everybody is talking about how character Aemond and actor who plays him is amazing and stuff. But can I make an appreciation post for the phenomenal actor Rhys Ifans who portrays Otto Hightower. He's so versatile like Johnny Depp, because I never knew that Mycroft Holmes from Elementary, Xenophilius Lovegood from Harry Potter, Mad Hatter's dad from Alice Through the Looking Glass, seller from Madame Bovary, Curt Connors aka Lizard from the Amazing Spider-Man are played by the same person, like whaaat?!!! 🤯🤯I really like the recognition he gets, because he's truly talented.
Don't forget my man from Notting Hill. Guy knew how to handle traffic.

Monarchy is the best, no need for long ass debate and lobbying in the senate and congress for power, if the king is wise and good = happiness :) it was good for those eras. Hence why in a democratic process, we still have a President, Prime Minister, Governor etc.
The Aemond scene with him watching Aegon being crowned is probably foreshadowing his go as Prince Regent
I think we’re going to get multiple Cargyll storylines, one introducing the twins where they have to fetch quest Aegon, and then another when they split, with one of them rescuing Rhaenys and bringing word to Rhaenyra about Viserys death
The book is NOT cannon. GRRM said this. The book is third plus accounts taken from journals years after the fact (essentially gossip). The show is presented as what ACTUALLY happened & we are getting front row seats.
Love GRRM for doing this. Shuts everyone up and finally let's us enjoy a show 😂

10:12 Princess Rhaenys said it on official trailer (timestamp 2 : 03) before this was aired. She whispered it to Alicent when they where by the window after Visery's death.
at the end of the trailer it is Rhaenys who tells Alicent if she has ever imagined herself on the iron throne

Even I figured that out pretty quickly. Viserys always saw Alicent and the children he helped conceive with her as outsiders. They were both forced into this loveless marriage. I don't think Alicent ever loved Viserys and only acted as a broodmare and caretaker. This is why their children got messed up in the head growing up while Daemyra's children are far more behaved and their parents weren't always there either.
With all that said, how can Alicent confuse what Viserys was telling her at the end? Isn't she aware Viserys is drinking the milk of the poppy and can't think straight? That's why she made decisions on the throne for him. Isn't she aware Rhaenyra also has a son named Aegon? Alicent wants to disown her Aegon. Now she believes her rapist boy that she and Viserys thinks is a total F up is going to unite the Seven Kingdoms? 🤣
Aegon the horny, drunk, rapist will unite the Seven Kingdoms? That Aegon? Alicent, you are truly dumb. Your kids got it from you. With Paddy Considine exiting the show, Matt Smith, Emma D'Arcy, and Olivia Cook will carry the show the rest of the way. Alicent looking like the dumbest character of the three.
Yeah..I want to sympathize with her but she took his words and ran with it because of confirmation bias. She knows there are like 20 Aegons in their family and V has called her by Aemma before, so I can only imagine how many times in the ten year time jump he's shown that confusion, yet she still takes it as law. All because she wants it to be true, so her suffering would have meaning so she reaches for a story that clearly doesn't make any sense.

First off the true heir should be aegon II by tradition and culture because he is viserys oldest son,not rhaenyra. King viserys said so himself, “even the king isn’t above tradition” when he was trying to marry rhaenyra in one of the first episodes, now he is using his power as king to go against tradition. Second, this is exactly how viserys became king in the first place, the previous king only had a woman heir, and the courts and the realm denied her (rhaenys) and viserys accepted the throne, so why shouldn’t the realm deny rhaenyra. So at this point the king is 2x the hypocrite. Third, rhaenyra is a whore and birthed 3 bastards, she knows it, and she still plays the victim, her bastards shouldn’t have rights to anything, and she failed her duty to give birth to a proper heir with laenor. Now, it was shown that alicent didn’t enjoy having sex with the king, but regardless, she performed her duty and gave the king 3 legitimate children, which is something rhaenyras thottie ass couldn’t do. People always talk shit about alicent, but she has 10 times the honor and sense of duty compared to rhaenyra. As a bonus, Aegon II has a fucking chad brother, with dragon sized balls, aka Aemond on his side, while rhaenyras bastards are a bunch of virgins 😂. Long story short, team green all the way!
@5:40 "no one can know who he is or what he seeks" could be when Otto sends one of the Kings guard to Dragonstone to eliminate Rhaenyra. There's 2 of the Kings guard who are twins. Ser Arryk and Ser Erryk Cargyll(one of them alerted alicent about Aegon and the servant girl and she got them mixed up), one supports Aegons claim the other Rhaenyra's they run into each other on Dragonstone and fight to their deaths.
Love your breakdowns! Especially since you know the source material. Too many TH-camrs hold a grudge from GoT and didn't read any of the history or Fire and Blood. Keep up the great work!
It's not Alicent whispering to Aegon.. It's Rhaenys to Alicent
Steffon Darklyn appears in this episode and he is the one stealing the crown and leaving to Rhaenyra. I do not remember any other knights that was mention though to join him (it was some naimeless few), but since the both twin knights are in the capital, one of those should leave as well. Although, I won't mind if clash between brothers happens earlier since they are not really established characters anyway.

They already introduced the Cargyll twins in episode 8. You can see the twins sparring in the courtyard when Luce & Jace watch Armond and Criston sparring. Arryk Cargyll is also the one who informs Alicent of Aegons rape of the servant girl

I know SeanTankTop, Jody's Corner, and Akasan have always been skeptics of this Daemon character but there is a reason why he is GRRM's favorite Targaryen and he's written a lot of them.
Years before HOT D was aired, I would read how popular Daemon was among book readers. Came from both genders. A lot of females read this stuff and aren't into Twilight and Harry Potter or at least not anymore for some. I'd read how Daemon was such a BADASS Targaryen and how they couldn't wait to see him in TV form.
Matt Smith crushed this role the moment we first see him in Ep 1. Daemon pulls the most gravity in EVERY scene. It's like even if he's leaning in the background, you want to know what he's doing? What's he thinking? How he's reacting? If he doesn't appear for 30 minutes into the episode, you start to ask, Where's Daemon? Where's Daemon? This is pure charisma, people.
Listen, I thought Ewan Mitchell would steal scenes in this episode but I didn't see it at all. Aemond looks cool but it's not the level of charisma that Daemon carries. Matt Smith still pulls the most eyes and ears to him. We all hang onto his every word and Daemon is a man of very few words. But when he says something, it can hit you as hard and as fast as Dark Sister did through Vaemond's neck.
Daemon is THE ONE. This is why in every comment section, guys and gals will say, I love Daemon! I love Matt Smith! I will defend all of Daemon's crimes! It's insanity. But he's a character who hasn't let me down. Without Daemon, I'm not sure I would continue to watch this show. GRRM and the book readers were right all along. We are starting to get it. Daemon truly is the main reason to watch. The GOAT.

Can see the tongue attached to the neck while Daemon wipes off Dark Sister and then directly looks at Aemond. You can even see Aemond flinch the moment Daemon played Fruit Ninja with Vaemond's head.
I know not everyone likes Daemon and that's fine. People want to be a contrarian or like the boy scouts. And Daemon is written as a grey character so he's going to be divisive. But even the haters have to admit Daemon still pulls the most attention over any other character in this show. He has "IT". He has je ne sais quo.

Daemon should have been recast. Aemond the older cast fellow has more charisma, style, coolness, bad azz, not to be messed with effect... He carries a scene with subtle movements, looks and expressions... Daemon's character actor is ok but not like this kid... he's a natural!!

The Cargill twins story is likely Otto/the Greens ordering Erryk (the twin who sided with the Greens) on his mission to dragonstone as in the books.

In GOT there was only the mad king, who had already died, Danny, her 2 brothers, who died, the 2 old azz targaryens, the 3 eyed raven and the nights watch old dude and of course Jon Snow.... by the end of that show, it was Jon Snow the only targerayn alive....Soooooo. after the dragon fight, this story is done..

Why hasn't Sunfyre been mentioned yet? How often does Aegon ride him? How deep is their bond? I feel it's weird there hasn't been any mention of him. Did we see him briefly during Laena's funeral? (There were 5 dragons perched around the cliff, but it was too brief to make out which ones they were. I'd assume Vhagar, Caraxes, Syrax, Melys, and Seasmoke?)
Sunfyre has been mentioned in the episode 6 when Jacaerys was taming Vermax and Yes it has been shown at Laena's funeral. The golden dragon with pink membrane was Sunfyre.
in the books sunfyre and aegon are really close so yeah a bit strange we dont see their bond

@Ana arias his egg never hatched non of her kids dragon egg hatched. He had to pick out sunfyre as a baby dragon. It's another way for them to show you he's not the one and not the heir

Viserys' final words makes me thinks he didn't just blindly refuse to accept Rhaenyras' children were bastards. He may have known all along but believed the prophecy was more important and that it needed to be specifically her on the throne. Whether they're bastards or not, her children still have Targaryen blood so it doesn't put the prophecy in jeopardy.

It's annoying that the unreliable nature of septons and maesters, basically hightower stooges, retelling dance of dragons to make the greens more sympathetic is repeated in the show.
Witness Aegon the conqueror’s crown, will be worn by Aemond as well!!!

Even the better lit shots look more like Winterfell than King's Landing, which was sunny, tropical, green and flowering.
Not only is this unrelentingly tedious and cynical, but I couldn't make out 1/3 of the scenes.
By this point in GOT, I was completely invested in characters and plots.
This feels more like homework than entertainment, and I can't even see the bloody thing.
