    Thanks for the helpful video! The filter on our washer has some kind of ratchet system to loosen and tighten the filter. I’m still not sure whether we need to push the filter in or pull the filter cap out to tighten it! The first time I cleaned out the filter and reinstalled the filter cap my washer leaked all over the floor. I reseated the the filter cap and let’s see what happens...

      I believe you have to push the filter in to tighten or loosen it, my unit doesn’t have this child resistant filter type but others have noted this. Thank you for watching and please consider giving the video a thumbs up if you haven’t already! Thank you!

    I've been draining that hose for a long time now...must be at least a gallon so far. Definitely way more than 5 cups' worth! Is this a problem?

      I would keep going it should stop soon. Let us know if it stops

      I had the same experience, but I ran into the SC code during a wash cycle so there was dirty soapy water to dump and not just wants retained after a cycle. Ideally we don't wait for a problem to do it, like I did. :(

    Damn man not all hero’s wear capes.
    My washer just started leaking and this was the fix thank god I didn’t have to get a new washer. (We hadn’t cleaned this part since we got it, 3 years)
    Also I had to push down for my child safety lock and I swear that thing is not meant to be usable by humans.

      I like your sense of humor and I appreciate the compliment! Glad you found the video helpful. Many people have trouble with the safety lock so don’t be too hard on yourself! Thanks again!

      I can’t seem to open the filter cap. It just keeps rotating. My model is wf50k7500aw.

    • @5MinuteFixit
      @5MinuteFixit  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you push down and turn? Many people have said that theirs was very hard to open.

    • @nehav860
      @nehav860 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Finally I was able to open it as per the suggestion, I had used all my strength phew! I cleaned the filter and after putting it back, there is a leak happening from the filter.
      So frustrating!

      @@nehav860 I have the same type of child-proof filter. How did you stop the leak after inserting the filter back in?

  • @pmzer

    omg i can't get the filter to screw back in. I did everything right. My filer is childproof. It's also old lady proof for putting it back in. Am I just not strong enough?

      @5MinuteFixit  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh no! just reading this comment now, were you able to get it back on? I hope!

    • @TheFaeleena
      @TheFaeleena ปีที่แล้ว

      I had problems with this too. There's a little notch to get it started and push in and start twisting. Hope you got it sorted and hope this comment helps someone in the future.

    Can't get the filter cap off it's not childproof it's bullshit

    • @5MinuteFixit
      @5MinuteFixit  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you have any luck? You might want to try a pair of pliers but be careful not to break the filter housing or tabs. Thank you for watching!

      Mine has a childproof drain plug and tried using channel lock pliers and can’t get it off. It just clicks like a medicine bottle

    • @MissUnScripted
      @MissUnScripted 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For anyone looking for answers to this I had the same issue and it actually is a child lock. I got a large pair of pliers and pushed VERY VERY HARD and then started twisting it counter clockwise. You know it’s working & enough pressure when you no longer hear the clicking when you turn it.

    • @5MinuteFixit
      @5MinuteFixit  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jcherrax I would say run the washer empty with no detergent at the hottest setting, sanitize cycle if you have it. If it’s not clean after that then they might be worth a try.

      Some of these have a child resistant filter that you have to push and turn to open it can be very difficult. Hopefully this helps! Thank you for watching!
