Its amazing to me that so many still support Labour or Tories. Labour are making a right mess & the Tories practically destroyed Britain for 14 years.

Love the comment that Labour have not had the normal honeymoon period. Why would they have a honeymoon period when only 22% of voters bothered to turn out to vote for them. (33% of voters who turned out ). Reality is most people did not want labour unlike most other new governments, who tend to have much more support from the start. There was no well of hope to draw from amongst the electorate.

8-9 million people would vote Labour if the Labour candidate was kicking them in the pants as they did it. At least a lot of normal Tory voters abandoned the Tories, party politics is horrendous, old-fashioned, and hurts the country.
"Cut public spending still further" - In the last 40 years public spending has grown 6 times the size in real terms! The waste of our money on programs that don't work is actually criminal. It is not want of money that is the problem, it is spending it on things that no business in the private sector ever could.

It is an enormous step for a 200 year old national political party to take, to decide that they are doing so poorly that they are going to stand aside in some seats. There will also be enormous amounts of bad blood there at a local level. Most reform candidates will be ex Tory traitors who will be hated by local associations. It would be a strong tory leader who was able to impose such a harsh measure on local associations. I don't think Kemi is it. If they had that kind of strong leader then Farage wouldn't be doing so well in the first place. I think we are looking at an equivalent of the long protracted Labour / SDP split.
