Thank you Steely Dan for all the great music over the years. I was a big fan back in high school in 1973 driving around north van in my Volkswagen van with them loud on my 8 track. Also I have played drums since I was thirteen and I am sixty four now. Still love the music, and it is as fresh as ever! Rip Walter!
7 years ago I was watching Steely Dan play this song live, and it was amazing to say the least. Steely Dan is probably the most talented band out there.
RIP Rickey Lawson, Walter Becker and Cornelius Bumpus!! Steely Dan is so original in it's compostions, lyrics, chords, rhythm, and harmonies. Never another sound like theirs.
Shannon, My! You have distinctively good good knowledge & taste & you deserve credit when it's due! Thanks for acknowledging Ricky Lawson & Cornelius Bumpus, Incredible Musicians who left their indelible foot prints in Jazz & Rock
For one silly 1978 movie (I saw it) there was some damn good music that came out of it. Lots of name brand artists. For some reason I got the movie "FM" mixed up with the 1981 movie "Heavy Metal" (saw this one too) so I looked at their lineup and Wow! is it heavy with talent. No wonder I got confused!
@@rondohunter8966 Steely Dan contributed a great song to "Heavy Metal", too: "True Companion". unfortunately, it got butchered in the movie but it's available in its entirety elsewhere out there...
@@jwc3o2 Thanks for that info. I will look around for it. Been a big SD fan from way back, first album probably was Aja, but soon I had everything they put out. Take care and stay safe.

Back when there were music stores that carried actual vinyl as well as swag, I was looking at their collection when a couple of yout's saw a Steely Dan album, picked it up and looked at it saying "who the hell is Steely Dean?" I just looked at them like the Gramophone Record dog, turning my head sideways cause he just said the most idiotic thing, they just stared back. I looked at the clerk who heard it all and he just burst out laughing and went into the back to tell the other employees. The kids left not knowing what they did.

Twist: they were committed smartasses who decided amongst themselves to go into a record store and do this bit, knowing full well the importance of Steely Dan to vinyl nerds
@@jeremyhopkins577 If only that were so. Though I find myself doing that today when someone mentions a popular singing "star" of the moment I say, "What is that?" instead of Who is that. Pisses them off royally. Thanks for the comment, nice.
Walter was a solid guitar player, but also humble enough to let other great players add their spice to the mix.

A couple of BRILLIANT gents, in more ways than normal. Keep the dream notes going Donald, we love ya! R.I.P. Walter
I have loved steely dan since 72,this is my number 1
Bumpus and Lawson are part of this. Fagen and Becker surely knew how to put great musicians together !
th-cam.com/video/sgn7VfXH2GY/w-d-xo.html not bad either ???
Thanks for acknowledging these two greats! Big fans of both
Best live version on YT. Love it! Thank you.

One of my favorite groups of all time!.... 😎
Anybody who knows anything about SD knows that Donald is perfectionist, before everything else.
Such a talented group!
Great stuff, right up there with Stravinsky.
I love funked-up music, too.
RIP Walter Becker
A great man. Too bad the crap hit the fan after his passing. Such drama. Should have figured that out long before. That's what lawyers are for.
and Cornelius!
No static at all.......how else?

I feel for you if you have gone through life without knowing the Dan's music
They kept me sane throughout my early years of my first marriage. She's still living.
The guy bumkiss played with the doobie brothers, he got a great song called a step closer.

This is top shelf action
Becker just kills!
Is this gig on a dvd I can buy?
It was, good luck finding it now…
So... white guys no nothing about rhythm, blues and jazz... tell that to Steely Dan!!
We need to eliminate that stigma completely. Honestly, talent is talent, and it transcends race, or at least it should
soul doesn't care what colour you are!
true but>? the drummer and bassist are Black guys..moving the foundation of the rhythm.
They produce it and take all the money.
@@davidmapp6243the drummer who recorded with them was no other than the legendary Jeff Porcaro, who was white.
