I like this review. This looks likely as a daypack I could bring overnight gear if caught out: I am of the opinion any dayhike could require better preparation for contingies.
Great review. I like the GG minimalist 24. Smaller than this for a day pack and you don’t need to open top flap to get at front pocket. That would drive me crazy. Also has an inner zip pocket.
I would give it an 8/10 for breathability. Its not going to be as breathable as the packs with a suspended mesh layer that keep the bag offset from your back, but it is fairly breathable. The pad is much thinner than my larger frameless packs, so I think that helps.
It is on the larger side for a day pack, but since the pack is light, I haven't found it be an issue. The extra space gives me some flexibility. I can hike with my wife and only take one pack! I also tend to carry a good bit of camera gear.
I have looked into the Kumo before. Both packs have shoulder strap pockets, but otherwise the designs are fairly different. SMD and GG both make great gear though!
It is not a hip belt, it is a waist belt. The difference is (as you pointed out) a hip belt is loading bearing and made to be worn on the hips A waist belt is not load bearing, it is just for load stabilizing and not to be worn on the hips but it should be worn higher on the waist.
Another great review; I appreciate the useful information that shows you clearly have used the pack and are thoughtful about what works (and doesn't).
Thanks!
For a great waterproof pack, take a look at the Mountain Hardware Scrambler 35.
They're "mitten clips" named for how they were typically sewn on to kids mittens to keep them from getting lost. Another excellent review.

Definitely a good thought when hiking in remote areas. Thanks for watching!
Great review! 34l for a daypack is a bit too large for me though
Thanks for watching!

One attractive pack - looks like it will last and a lot of details were well thought out.
How breathable is the back? Does it get really hot?

Design very similar (a copy?) to Gossamer Gear Kumo 36...
