    I found out about eBird from my library's subscription to the Birds of the World database. Ever since we installed our bird feeder last year, we have been using Cornell's amazing resources to identify species I didn't know we had in my city. It's been a great eye-opener to the amazing world of nature in my own back yard. I'm now a part of eBird and recording my sightings and observations to benefit the whole birding community. A great resource for libraries and birders around the world!

    This is very nice. in Uganda we need this, because we have over 1000 species of birds

    Good idea! We are on a migration path. The fires or other problems send birds we don't normally see.

    I am sparking an old joy of birdwatching inspired by the unfortunate spread of conjunctivitis among goldfinches and possibly purple and house finches. My little feathered friend ate from my hand with one eye sealed and then she was back with both eyes sealed, then she came no more... I hope people regularly wash their feeders.

    I would love to find a group of those passionate about birds in New Zealand, but unfortunately all their online groups are dead and abandoned.
    This poses the question; can people with this app can form groups? It would be wonderful to share my hobby with people offline.

      You can basically see all sightings in the country, who the top 100 birders in the country or regions in the country, and other birder's profiles (which is optional). It's almost like a social media for birding. There aren't any groups though, but you don't really need one to find out what birds others have seen, especially if you set up "my alerts," which tells you what species have been seen by who and where in any region, daily.

    Was so excited to see this app, I immediately downloaded and tried to use it. For privacy reasons, I cannot allow location services on this app. Is there any particular reason you cannot simply accept reported input? Is the app crashing part of this functionality? :/

    • @Ethan-uo4fr
      @Ethan-uo4fr 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Well idk know why privacy would be an issue, it only asks that encase you want to use your "current location" as the place you went birding when submitting a checklist. It's all for scientific data and in no way will it use your location for anything other than that. So unless you work for the government at area 51, you can probably just let it use your location to solve this error you're describing. But idk why it's saying it's "mandatory" to use your location. It might be a glitch because I can't recall mine doing that. But you don't have to use the app, you could also use the website. Hope this helps
