  • I have bought a single skin paraglider! This is the Niviuk Skin 3 in size 18.
    This mini wing / paraglider is my first experience with single skins and I am taking you along for the ride. See my thoughts and an honest review as I go through the first unboxing of the wing.
    I will soar this wing, and thermal with it when the weather permits, then I'll upload more of an in depth review on how it handles in flight.
    Thank you for watching, please like and subscribe and wait for the next video :)

    I love single skin gliders. I used to fly an air design UFO 21Meter. Responsive and stable. Poor penetration makes it a bad choice for ridge soaring but does very well thermalling in lighter conditions. One of my favorite.

      Not yet I've flown the ozone f-light and the skyman skin. Overall I really liked air designs UFO there best. I'm always excited to try more stuff eagerly.

    Nice points Dan. Yes lightweight, easy to launch in nil wind BUT slow, slow, slow. Great for hike and fly, fly downs but watch it for UK soaring. (Know you will!!)😄

    How does a single skin wing perform in strong wind and turbulent conditions? Is it as safe as a standard double skin glider?

    • @DansEscapades
      @DansEscapades  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Il answer the first one first... Single skin wings are very well known for being crap in head winds, they simply can't penetrate. Therefor being dangerous as you are asking to be blown back over a Ridge into rotor. So basically..... They are crap in high wind. They are 100% for nil / low wind days.
      The 2nd part of the question.
      I don't know if its safe as a standard paraglider. Single skins do recover faster, lots faster... So in that sense they are,but when you consider the conditions you fly them... Its very hard to say.
      On a single skin, you feel every single thing the wing is doing, and it can feel a little uncomfortable... But they fly very well and very stable.
      I hope this has helped 👍🏼
